I didn't get banned for this yet so here we are. So if I wanted to choke slam a monster(let's assume a monstrous humanoid here), which edition would I have the best luck in?
To quote the great wiki, "A chokeslam is a type of body slam in professional wrestling, in which a wrestler grasps an opponent's neck, lifts them up, and slams them to the mat." This is a combat maneuver and we all love debating those!
In the 0-2E days, it would be up to a DM's judgement or maybe some negotiations. Which means it depends on the table, which can means sometimes you're out of luck.
In 3E world, there are no direct rules (that I know of) about chokeslamming. I think the grapple rules would have to factor in somehow?
4E would just make a choke slam power and be done with it. How fine you are with this depends on how realistic you want D&D to be and how much work you are willing to put it to make it realistic.
In 5E, I guess we're back to DM's judgement. Except now a DM can go on the internet to get some opinions on it to better figure how to do it and here we are!!
