Ruma: Dawn of Empire
Core Rulebook
By Azure Keep

Citizen! The burgeoning Ruman Empire needs your help bringing civilization to the savages.

Ruma: Dawn of Empire is a tabletop roleplaying game set in an alternate Roman Empire where myth and magic are real. The Empire has just begun to push its borders into neighboring lands, only to be met by savage barbarians, murderous beasts, magical forests, and strange horrors. Ruman generals and senators have formed small cohorts of specialized troops to discover and counter these threats. You and your friends are members of such a cohort.

The game is powered by the Apocalypse Engine, created by D. Vincent Baker & Meguey Baker for their game Apocalypse World. The engine also runs many other awesome games, such as Dungeon World by Sage LaTorra and Adam Koebel, The City of Judas by Davide Pignedoli, and Legacy: Life Among the Ruins by James Iles. Ruma: Dawn of Empire owes a great deal to these games, and many others.

Inspiration for Ruma can be found in movies such as 300, Ben Hur, Centurion, Clash of the Titans, The Eagle, Gladiator, and Immortals; TV shows like Rome and Spartacus; and novel series like The Oath of Empire by Thomas Harlan and The Videssos Cycle by Harry Turtledove.

Viscid
Delta Green Scenario
By Arc Dream Publishing

Even Death Has a Half-Life

Two days ago, a newspaper delivery driver found retired geneticist Tibalt Grieves dead outside his suburban home. Police found Grieves’ girlfriend dead in the house. A detective discovered a hidden lab, outfitted with bio-hazard scrubbers. A CDC specialist found unidentifiable samples—samples that indicated that something had gotten loose. When the sun rose, Grieves’ body began to smolder and disintegrate.

It was another five hours before Delta Green got involved.

In Viscid, the Agents must keep a lid on a story that threatens to spin out into the public in all its unnatural detail. They must delve into the secrets of strange and lethal forces acting in secrecy all around them. They must follow a trail of carnage to a horrifying communion.

As far as Delta Green is concerned, staying alive is the last of their priorities.

Lost Hall of Tyr
5th Edition / Swords & Wizardry Scenario
By Gaming Ballistics LLC

The Hall of Judgment: Here Tyr himself guided human and dwarf in the ways of honor, law, retribution, and justice in war and life. It has been lost for centuries, hidden by the power of Asgard from those without permission to enter.

Until now . . .

The Tiwstakn, the fabled keys that unfog the mind and guide the body when seeking the Hall, have been found. The clerics of Tyr in the city of Isfjall, have offered the PCs a substantial reward if they have the will to rediscover the hall, and return the holy books from within.

They are, of course, not the only ones looking…

Lost Hall of Tyr is an adventure scenario for Fifth Edition or Swords and Wizardry, targeted at characters who are established but are not yet the movers and shakers of the world. It is geared towards 4-8 characters of level 4-7, with 28-32 total levels recommended.

The module is set in a Norse-inspired culture and land, and uses the mythology and legends of the Asgardians, and the nordic/viking culture, as a basis. It includes advice on how to drop it into any campaign and setting, so long as the journey and quest takes the party into the mountains and wilderness, in search of an object or goal that is valuable because of its history and contents, but not powerful by itself.

Misspent Youth 1.2
Core Rulebook
By Robert Bohl Games

Misspent Youth is a tabletop RPG about friendship, standing up to bullies, and changing the world. The game is for 4 to 6 people, one of whom plays The Authority, the force that's making the world a :):):):):):) place to live. The others all play Youthful Offenders (YOs), the only ones who can redeem the future from this pack of :):):):):):):)s trying to :):):):) it up.

Ever wanted to play The Hunger Games (but focused on friends), Clockwork Orange (but with heroic droogies), Hackers (but less goofy), Mad Max: Fury Road (but, again, with teenagers), or Avatar: The Last Airbender (but sci-fi)? This is the game for you.

Here's how Misspent Youth works: First you create the evil Authority as a group, then you create your characters together. At the start of each episode, you ask questions about the friendship between the characters, then you make up some villains for The Authority to employ in :):):):)ing up your lives. Each episode has a seven-scene structure which, in every complete session, gives you a story with a beginning, middle, and end.

When it comes to the place in each scene where The Authority tries to stomp you in the face with its massive, :):):):)-off boot, you have a Struggle. In a Struggle, you attempt to achieve your group's hope without letting The Authority get her objective. As you throw dice in a craps-like system, you can win it all for your side or :):):):) up your hopes for all your friends. But not to worry, if you roll a loss, you can sell out one of your convictions! You describe doing something so vile, heinous, and Authority-like that your friends are horrified with you. You win it for your side but now you're permanently more like The Authority!

Once the first YO has sold out every conviction, that's the last episode of the series. In each episode, you have the chance to change the world to make it a better place to live. If the last episode of the series ends and you haven't changed the world enough, a catastrophe that the group authors at the start of the game comes to pass, and it's your clique's fault for failing to stop it. But if you beat The Authority, you can fix the world.

Altiplano
2-5 players, ages 12+, 60-120+ minutes
By dlp Games

Altiplano, a bag-building game along the lines of Orléans set in the South American highlands of the Andes — the Altiplano — is not a simple game, presenting players with new challenges time and again. There are various ways to reach the goal, so the game remains appealing to try out new options and strategies, but success or failure also depends on whether your opponents let you do as you like or thwart the strategy you are pursuing. The competition for the individual types of goods is considerable — as is the fun in snatching a coveted extension card from under another player's nose!

Aside from building up an effective production, you must deliver the right goods at the right time, develop the road in good time, and store your goods cleverly enough to fill the most valuable rows with them. Often, a good warehouseperson is more relevant in the end than the best producer.

At the start of the game, players have access only to certain resources and goods. This is due to the different role tiles that each player receives and that provide everybody with different starting materials. At the market, however, a player can acquire additional production sites that give new options. The numerous goods — such as fish, alpaca, cacao, silver, or corn — all have their own characteristics and places where they can be used. Whereas silver makes you rich, fish can be exchanged for other goods, and the alpaca gives you wool that you can then make into cloth.

By Mayfair Games

Nusfjord is a tranquil fishing village in the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway. Fifty years ago, business was blooming when the codfish would come for spawning. Today, Nusfjord is more of a museum than a village, with less than a hundred people living there. Imagine how beautiful this place must be given that you must pay a fee to even look at the houses. Cruise ships used to pass by this long and now mostly abandoned island world.

In the time period in which the game Nusfjord is set, things looked quite different. Sailing ships dominate the fjord. The rocks around Nusfjord are covered in trees. As the owner of a major fishing company in Nusfjord on the Lofoten archipelago, your goal is to develop the harbor and the surrounding landscape, and to succeed you must enlarge your fleet, clear the forest, erect new buildings, and satisfy the local elders. Others do this as well, of course, so the competition is steep.

Trans Atlantic
2-4 players, ages 13+, 90+ minutes
By Rio Grande Games

From the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 to the beginning of WWI in 1914, there was an amazing development of bigger, faster, and more modern steamships. Whereas in 1870 there are still many clippers around and the good old paddle steamer "Scotia" sails the North Atlantic, sea trade is dominated by the end of the game by huge vessels like "Mauretania"(Cunard), "Olympic"(White Star), or "Imperator"(Hapag).

2 to 4 players lead their own shipping companies, which transport freight, mail, and passengers around the globe. They purchase new steamships from the market, each of them historical with their individual technical data (tons, knots etc.). Competition is tough especially in the North Atlantic, where winning the "Blue Riband" is not only a matter of prestige, but may also be a profitable investment. In order to let a shipping company flourish, purchasing the best steamships is not enough, if one fails to acquire enough coal bunkers and trade posts as well.

The game is driven by cards: on each turn play one card, and execute the related action. As new cards enter the game, build your individual deck of cards with new or improved possibilities. The task is to manage your merchant fleet most efficiently. It's a maritime strategy game with low luck, lots of interactive choices, and tough decisions.
