    Appearance: Tibard is a near-middle-aged dwarf. His hair and beard are long and well groomed, both black with streaks of grey. His face is stern and has more frown than smile lines. Despite his age his eyes sparkle with devotion verging on fanaticism. The only thing keeping him from looking like a Dwarf's Dwarf is his slight frame, which is due to constant self-sacrifice and fasting in service to Hyrag.

    Background: Tibard found Hyrag at a young age and never looked back. The same satisfaction his peers got from fighting and adventuring, he got from fasting and other self-sacrifice. He was zealous in his prosletyzing, spending hours preaching to the public. He also drew large crowds every week to his firey sermons. And so he did for 135 years of his life. Lately, though, he's had dreams and premonitions. He honestly believes that Hyrag talks to him, and he thinks now He's telling him to go out and put his knowledge and skills to more active use. Not that he's going to give up on converting the faithless.

    Appearance:
    Burns on the left side of his face which he does not remember how they got there. His hair is unkempt, as though it does not concern how it looks. His armor looks brand new, while the crossbow he carries show the signs of ages. His hood is normally up, and his expression is hard to pin down.

    Background: Abandoned as a child in front of a monastery, Lune has grown up with a huge distrust of people in general. This has caused him to be an excellent judge of character, able to tell who is lying to him from those who tell the truth. He often served as a go between in fights at the monastery, but otherwise he stayed in the library studying all day. He learned about Russana, and started praying to her every day for guidance and wisdom. He keeps a diary of his travels since leaving the monastery.

    Background: Quarion grew up in a large city, he was found amongst a poor human family. He and his adopted brother grew up being thieves and stealing from the nobles. Quarion stole from the church and was caught by a paladin of Azwan. This paladin spoke to Quarions parents and offered to take Quarion onto the path of good. He accepted and trained with his mentor. One day his mentor ventured off to battle an army of undead. Quarion joined the battle without his mentors consent and was injured, the scar on his face was caused by an undead attack, his mentor to protect Quarion sacraficed himself. Quarion has since then grew and trained on his own.

    Brief Background

    Most Elves, especially the Gray Elves, have the extraordinary privilege of being pretty much born with fair countenances, voices like nightingales, commanding intellects, and long-lived lives, in which these great spirits generally proceed to further develop these regal bearings to even greater heights.

    Not so in the case of Jamilee Valhaeris, a lateborn daughter of the House Valhaeris, who even as a child was as plain-looking as a peasant's daughter, and explicitly not the kind of pure-hearted, common but fair peasant girl the heroes in the stories tend to have romantic interludes with. She was her father Soheil's great disappointment, and his greater disappointment when she grew up. Like most ruthlessly pragmatic nobles who find themselves gifted with a daughter, he'd intended to marry her off to an allied house or treaty partner as soon as possible; and, Nature being what it is, ugly brides aren't in much demand.

    You might object, and say that Jamilee is getting a raw deal here. Surely physical beauty isn't everything, and surely her personality must've counted for something. You'd be right to ask, except that she didn't exactly have a beautiful personality either. "Headstrong" and "impetuous" do not even begin to cover it; pretty much as soon as she caught wind of her father's lacking love for her, and learned to speak, she made it her mission in life to do and say pretty much the opposite of whatever she was told to do. Her family want her to be a refined young lady; so she'd get into scraps at every opportunity. Growing up, she was taught the rudiments of magic; she took every opportunity to shirk her lessons and loaf about the House's smithies instead.

    When she came of age, she made a beeline for one of the toughest, most common, dirty and violent vocations Rivenblight has on offer, and joined the City Watch. Her father instantly disowned her. At the time, she didn't care one whit. For three decades, she was as content as she could be; she learned how to fight for keeps, expanded greatly on the smithing tricks and skills she picked up in her youth, and most importantly, fell in with a splinter sect of Gliranites calling themselves the Path of Razors - mostly made up of disillusioned youth and a few slightly psychopathic souls, partially influenced by Arrhim's Tractatus of Peace; they believe that even if Arrhim's going way overboard with his philosophy of the strong's necessary dominion over the weak, he has correctly hit upon the idea that the "strength" it refers to is never a bad thing to have, and acquiring it is a worthy life goal in and of itself.

    Ironically, these teachings roused her interest in studying magic again, the very thing she absolutely detested doing in her youth. Indulging that interest had to wait for a while, because absolutely no one in her home town would tutor her; either they weren't going to do so to begin with, or they were now reluctant to teach someone who had very obviously and very definitely fallen out of favor with one of the major families in the city. Her mounting frustration over this, limited prospects in the Watch, and a near-death incident while on duty which involved a slashed throat and a fall down several dozen yards of sheer cliff finally made her quit, and use her severance pay to finance a trip to Orussus; she reckoned that many humans, while not the most lofty creatures about, still have the drive to them that the Path predicts would lead them to great heights, discover deeply arcane secrets, and not leastly lead them to ignore such trivialities as a prospective apprentice's light purse and poor political status.

    Rooting about the underside of Orussus, she more or less stumbled across a necromancer named Marcus Venn. She found the bald, short, stocky, man somewhat distasteful, but undeniably talented in the Art, less crazed than most stories make necromancers out to be, and willing to give her a lot of leeway. He, on his part, found her eager to learn, roughly as antisocial and untalkative as himself, and therefore a perfect fit for someone to spend more than a few hours with; most importantly, she was not so squeamish as to refuse to do the more exhausting, grisly, unclean, or otherwise undesireable chores involved with the job, like scrubbing floors(*), donating the occasional pint of blood, or grave-robbing.

    Their bargain has held up. So far.

    (*: You might think this is not a particularly unpleasant duty, but just try to imagine what kind of litter a death-obsessed pseudo-scholar might leave around his workbench.)

    Appearance: Jamilee is a bit small even for a Grey Elf, with an average build. She wears loose, flowing silks in off-white and grey over a simple but well-made chain shirt. Her good taste and appearance seem to end just about there, because pale silvery hair is perpetually greasy and tangled, usually done up in a messy braid; her face and the visible skin on her forearms is impressively scarred, to the point where one of her ears is just about gone, and she seems to be snarling all of the time - a particularly nasty scar over the corner of her mouth keeps it pulled up.

    Personality sketch: Jamilee's aloofness, sarcastic and haughty demeanor, cutting remarks, grating voice, as well as her gung-ho attitude towards all things martial doesn't win her friends very easily, although once you're past that, she can be as fiercely loyal as she is generally fierce.

    Kalli's has long blonde hair and is clean-shaven, his face proudly showing hard won battle scars. He wears scale mail with the edges of tattoos showing from under a loose fitting red shirt. If he were to remove his shirt, you would see a large bear tattoo covering his back.

    Background:
    Kalli was always going to be a miner. His parents both worked in silver mines, and expected him to follow in the family profession. From a young age, Kalli was going with his parents to work on an occasional basis while he learnt the skills of the trade.

    This taught Kalli one of his early lessons about adult life: working is incredibly dull. While Kalli liked the pay that he earned from the mines, he found the days tedious and he soon found himself looking for more interest from the mines. To that end, he tried making friends from the other miners, before finding how different their outlooks were. After the third brawl in a week, the foreman told his parents that enough was enough, and that Kalli should find his place elsewhere.

    Stories of this fierce, frustrated and tempramental dwarf reached the ear of the warrior Brann Kerr, a warrior, who offered to teach him skills more suited to his temprament. His parents were distraught at this idea, sure that he would die at the hands of orcs or worse. But the idea captivated Kalli, and he insisted that he should be allowed to learn from Brann and learn to fight and defend his people.
    Kalli learnt fast, often getting into scrapes and scraps with other students. While he never mastered the finer skills that many of the dwarf warriors were taught, he made up for that in raw feriocity and determination in the heat of battle.

    Kalli was told that he needed to learn defense and how to protect himself from his foes, that he wasn't ready for a real fight. Stubborn as ever, this spurred Kalli into action. He tired of training and his practice fights had given him of a bloodlust which would not be sated in the practice grounds. Deciding that the time had come to stand on his own two feet, he set out to make his fortune and prove to both his parents and his mentor that he could not only survive in battle, but triumph.

    Of slightly below average height and possessing a lithe body shape, Erlon Marrick is built more for agility than for strength. With a rather ordinary face, he fades into most crowds. Well, crowds that contain other humans, anyway.

    Background:
    Erlon Marrick isn't a disgraced prince banished from his kingdom. He doesn't come from a broken home in the slums. He was not tragically orphaned and left to raise himself on the streets. His family is still quite alive, and quite ordinary, too. His mother and father love each other very much, and Erlon has two elder brothers and a younger sister.

    Erlon's beginnings as a thief, you see, are not rooted in tarnished reputation and wounded pride, not rooted in pain and agony, nor are they rooted in hunger and necessity. Erlon's career as a thief started when he realized that he likes nice things, and that he couldn't afford nice things.

    It started with small luxuries. But as Erlon's skills increased, he found that he could get away with taking more and more for himself. One of the first things he discovered was that people drinking alcohol are easier to pickpocket. And so Erlon often finds himself in the Red Dragon Inn, one of his favorite spots, knowing he had a greater chance to find something worthwhile there than out in the streets.

    Appearance: A life of difficulty and martial training have shaped Petra into an deceitfully strong warrior. While she is lithe and feminine as any northern female tends to be, every inch is tailored and sharp from drills and repetition. The small scars on her face, neck, and body seem to melt away on her pale skin. She can punch as hard as any Sergeant, swing as fast as any other leatherneck, but she can fool everyone with the grace and reserve of a woman ... if she cared for that. In the two years since she retired from the Marines, she has let her blonde hair grow long, keeping it in a simple braid that she often tucks into her tunic. By habit, she has maintained strict discipline with the utmost fitness. She tends to wear plain clothes and armor, as she was taught to always favor function over form. But the ease in which she dons her armor, the tightness of the fit, and the fluid grace in which she moves seems to suggest she was born wearing armor.

    Appearance: Aside from his flaming red hair and beard, and his deep green eyes, Kaleva is basically the dwarf stereotype. He face is nearly entirely hidden behind his thick bushy beard. He is almost always found worshipping Chenet' in the forge, and his strong, stocky nature is thus revealed.

    Background: Kaleva has felt the inspiration of Chenet' from an early age. He mother was metal smith of renown, and he eagerly followed her example. Whenever he creates something he feels the divine presence of Chennet'. As a cleric of Chenet' he is always exhorting others to build and create so that they too may feel of this power.
