Finished Lord of Chaos in the great Wheel of Time read. If the last book dragged, this one was a massive improvement. The slow pace was used to ratchet up the tension and increase complications until it all exploded at the end of the book.

Taking a quick break from the Wheel of Time with Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves.

IIrc, I stopped reading the 'Wheel of Time' after finishing 'The Dragon Reborn'. At first I thought you were referring to this book, because in this book nothing relevant happens for the entire book until the last chapter...

No, that was the last one, Fires of Heaven, that nothing really happened until the last chapter!

I have a feeling there are going to be multiple books that have vast swathes of padding in the middle. But I am committed to reading the whole of the series.
