Baldor is the leading weapons and armorer that his clan has known in the last 10 generations. A fact that his father points out to all that meet him. He left his father's house but 10 years ago to further his study, but remains in contact with him constantly. His father and sister and her kids are the only family that he has, so it's not hard to keep them abrest of his many travels. Sure there are others that are said to be better, but they are not from his clan. He spends most of his time searching for the secrets of enchantments, and for better ways to excel in his craft. He has traveled through out his world looking for secrets, and has been demanded by the most prestiges individuals of the land for his skills. Now he is beginning to search other realms for knowledge, thinking that there is not much more he can find in this one. His greatest goal is to find the secrets of crating the legendary Dwarven Throwers: a secret that had been lost for ages. He has been working on that weapon since the begining and carries with him the fruits of his labor as his primary means of protection.

Baldor may be an expert on arcane matters because of his craft, but he is still a dwarf! That means he will fight you with fist and mail, not wand and spell! Anyone to accuse him of being a mage or sorceror will soon find themselves facing his warhammer! He never cast spells, other then those that help his craft, and only during use in his craft, or furthering his exploration for secrets. Baldor has a weakness for fine ale, and a good tale. He's been known to spend a good amount on a storyteller who promised to tell him a tale he had not heard before.

Though very influential in his community, his clothing would not show it, though the quality of his arms and armor show his skill with making those items to those who know to look. His armor is some of the finest in the land, though it's not ornate, or showy. That goes with all things that he makes. They are pieces of art, but only to those who use them, not those who do not know their use.

Character History :

Karthak Rohat was born in the City of Rookroost in the World of Greyhawk. The large walled city of Rookroost is home to more than 17,000 of the worst sort of men, humanoids and worse to ever tread the lands of the Flanaess. Thieves, assassins, evil-hearted mercenaries and even half-fiends reputedly fight each other for control of this dark den of humanity, with a well-placed stab in the back often winning the throne for whoever dares to sit there.

Karthak grew up with his father Talidar, a ruthless mercenary and hunter of men. Like his father, Karthak grew up to be a mercenary but specialized in hunting down the walking dead. Though his father favored agility and grace, Krathak used his power and strength against his enemies. During one of their, “journeys,” Karthaks and his father were lured into a trap by small band of Gypsies that were working for an unknown enemy. Talidar was killed but Karthak managed to escape.

Throughout the years Karthak killed more than his share of ghouls, zombies, and the like. But in the back of his mind was always the thought of the Gypsy that killed his father. Growing in strength and wisdom throughout the years, he was able hunt down the Gypsies that killed his father. As he closed on the leader of the group, the strange looking man began chanting. In a rage, Karthak rushed forward swinging his might ax. Just as the blade was about to crash into its target, the chanting man throw a handful of powder and herbs in the face of Karthak. Instantly he was blinded and he fell to the ground, but not before he heard the sickening sound of his ax hitting its target. As Karthak fell to his knees, he felt the splash of blood across his face and the powder burned his eyes.

Wiping his face and eyes clean, Karthak stood using his axe as a crutch. Whatever the Gypsy threw at him, made him very weak. Looking down at the body in front of him, he realized it no longer had a head. Some fifteen feet away was the head of the Gypsy. Across its face was a very eerie yet satisfied smile.

That night while sleeping in his tent, a dream came to him. In his dream, he sat at a table that appeared in the center of his tent. Across from him sat a Gypsy fortuneteller. The old woman’s skin was cracked and weather-beaten. Her eyes were dark and cold and she was dressed in lavish clothes and gaudy jewelry. She began to speak to Karthak , revealing her old rotten teeth.
“You have angered my master,” she hissed in a raspy voice. “You shall pay for what you have done.” Krathak tried to speak but only guttural sounds spewed forth from his mouth. He began coughing up blood, almost as if his throat had been cut. “Silence,” the old woman barked out. “Your future does not look so bright.” she says as a crystal ball appeared in the center of the table. Looking into the crystal ball, Karthak only saw a swirling mist. As he looked back up at the gypsy, he realized they were no longer in his tent. Only him, the gypsy, and the table with the crystal ball remained. Around him was a swirling gray mist that blocked out all natural light. Only the faint whisper of wind could be heard until the old woman began laughing quietly. Her laugh slowly grew louder as Karthak tried to get away, to wake himself up. Her laughter, almost turning into a deafening scream, the old woman springs up from the table with a black dagger in hand. Jumping across the table she aims for Karthaks heart. Closing his eyes, preparing himself for the dagger to strike, he lets out a blood curdling scream.

Sitting up quickly he finds that his dream has passed. Drenched in sweat, Karthak stands and dons his armor. Grabbing his pack and his axe, he flips open the door of his tent, only to see that it is surrounded by an eerie mist. The only light he can see is the glow from the mist that must be coming from the moon.

Look/Traits: 18 years old, 6'10", 390 lbs. Ivar is of course, quite ugly, being a half-orc. He has small, black, piggish eyes and swarthy skin. He's quite massive and muscular. He's very used to getting his way, and will often try to intimidate people into giving in to him. Ivar also tends to be prone to violence if they refuse him, unless he's reasonably sure the other party can defeat him or if they're trusted.
Background: Ivar was born on the outskirts of the city of Greyhawk shortly after an orcish raid on that city. His mother was low-class, and this combined with his being an orc half-breed left practically no prospects for Ivar other than simple street thivery. At a young age (6), Ivar left home and began life as a street urchin, using his massive size and threatening appearance to get what he wanted. He soon fell afoul of members of Greyhawk's thieves' guild, who refused to be intimidated by either Ivar's size or his appearance. Ivar grew to respect these thieves, and by the age of 10 was already inducted into the guild. Once in the guild, he capitalized on his innate intimidation to make a name for himself as an enforcer and "collector" for the guild. Of late, Ivar's been trying to get close to his mother again after his (fully-human) brother was born last year.

Background: The Whiteshield family’s past and future revolves around the Knights of Solamnia. Over that time their men and even some of their women have found and sacrificed themselves for the glories cause and Drevan is no different. His quest for knighthood long complete he still strives to be a shining example to others, and an inspiration to the squires of the order.

Drevan was never a man of many words and the tragic loss of his half-elven wife and their young baby has made him gloomy and even more withdrawn. This loss would destroy a weaker man or at least make him question why, but Drevan though devastated by the loss of wife and son has only redoubled his efforts to the only thing he has left; his honor and his knighthood.

Though Drevan has no immediate family the Whiteshield family is still quite large, he has two brothers and two sisters, and an assortment of nieces and nephews.

Background: Aesa Frostdancer is a member of a nomadic tribe of people called the Icefolk. They live in the cold desolate wastelands of Icereach. How or why she left her tribe and family behind is unknown but most would suggest it was a wanting to explore the world not known to her, as she’s always been curious of the world around her, but her teaming with Drevan has even the most skilled observer wondering as they almost exact opposites. While Drevan is gruff and moody, Aesa is charming and even-tempered. Aesa possession an almost elflike grace and a gorgeous mezzo-soprano singing voice which allows her to be a bard of some skill. Aesa is Drevan’s biggest fan as she sees him as being capable a catalyst of great epics and her chance for being a legendary bard, but their relationship extends past that to best friend and confidents during hard times and as .

Tall and handsome, Horatio cuts a striking figure. As befits his occupation as a diplomat, both in his hair and his clothes, he is the image of the current fashion amongst the well-heeled youth of the City of Greyhawk.

Background: Horatio and Osric were both born in the City of Greyhawk to the owners of the White Eagle, a large tavern in the merchant's quarter. The boys' early childhood introduced them both to the paths they were to follow later in life. Horatio would sit for hours at the back of the common room, listening to bards singing epic songs of adventure, love, and betrayal. Osric was less taken with ballads and tales, much preferring the excitement of the boxing and wrestling matches held in the small arena in the inn's yard.

This arena would also change the brothers' lives forever. Shortly after Horatio's seventh birthday, the boys were orphaned when their parents, along with three of the tavern's guests, after an argument with one of the wrestler's agents ended in the tavern being set on fire.

The brothers were placed into the wardship of the Temple of Kord, under the watchful eye of William Wainwright, a cleric of Kord and friend of the Lackland family. Osric's strength, skill at arms, and innate faith made him an obvious candidate for priesthood, but Horatio seemed less suited to the life of a follower of Kord. He worked as a kitchen servant for the first year of his wardship with the temple, quickly becoming envious of his brother's far more exciting schooling. It was only at the midwinter feast that Horatio's true calling showed itself.

The bard performing was singing "Arduwin's Battle", an epic hearkening back to a hero of the Temple's early years, when he collapsed, somewhat the worse for alcohol. Horatio picked up the verse without a pause, his own singing spectacularly outmatching that of the inebriated bard.

After that night, his routine changed dramatically from one of domestic drudgery to lessons in history, the arts, etiquette, and magic. Horatio proved a quick study in these fields, and at the age of twelve was apprenticed to Yondwin Keeper, loremaster and chief diplomat of the Temple.

Horatio's has been granted more responsible duties by his master, and now acts as a negotiator for both the temple and the City's nobility. Osric, unsurprisingly, took well to his role as a cleric, and has joined the ranks of the Temple's warrior-priests, earning himself a reputation for both bravery and common sense. The brothers often work together, Osric acting as an escort for Horatio when he works outside of the relative safety of the City.
