I just wish they'd offered more advise on integrating 5e Shadar Kai with the previous lore, in 4e Shadar Kai we're a big deal in the FR setting, and even appear in 5e novels.

I would suggest that Prince Riven made a deal with the Raven Queen, in exchange for Shadar Kai souls being reincarnated into the bodies of new born babies born to human parents with a link to the Shadowfell, such as to Shadovar parents, Riven would open a door way into the FR shadowfell, so the Raven Queen could spread her influence in FR.
I guess it was more accurate to say they merged the two. I meant that they got rid of the human part

They got rid of them being human, but kept the basic concept of the Raven Queen, and some other stuff from 4e. Plus they added new twists for 5e.

Especially when you can just teleport them someplace else, and if they don't take the hint, the second place will be Carceni.

    So its weird.
Not really. After all, the DMG doesn't say the celestial elves have to stay in Aborea, and who wants to hang out with those pesky eladrin anyway? There are CN Drow in neighboring Ysgard, so a little migration solves that problem, not to mention you could migrate the high and/or wood elves to Alfheim. And obviously the Avarial take up music and green body paint and head over to Mt. Celestia (good career options for them there). Sea elves cover the novierre eladrin role, so they can stay. So the only weird ones are the SK's, and since they have an affinity for raven-themed deities, Ysgard migration handles that too.

What about the ones who don't migrate?

Don't forget that Arborea isn't just another place for elves to hang around in, it is CG central, which means as long as you are acting CG, no one is going to freak out or make a big deal about it. They may even automatically mind zap any mortals who enter the realm so that they see all elves as eladrin to "prevent misunderstandings" (of course, the tourism board leaves out this little detail). Thus, with one little bit of hidden truth, everything fits and previous lore wasn't so much wrong as incomplete.
