Sesto looked intently at the large amphibian trying to work out its intentions. He then leaned over to Loklafd without taking his eyes away from the creature and said: I think the toad might have been here before the the dragon. It might not like being under its influence. I suggest we tell him our true intentions of ridding this place of undead dragons. How do you think that will go down?

OOC: Insight check [roll0] or animal handling [roll1], if it's more appropriate.

Kalorn's eyes widened for a moment - Lorenn! He had momentarily forgotten about the scout, so focused had he been on his familiar. Too used to working alone...

He muttered, using the link from the message spell

"Talking with Frog-minion of the dragon. May be friendly. Don't attack unless needed".

Legend
The toad eyed the newcomers with an intelligence as they gabbed in a language it didn't understand.

Loklafd finally said to the creature, "We are looking for McCaath the Crimson" and he described her.

Sesto observed the toad's reaction, and he came to the conclusion that the creature understood that they were outsiders, but did not care. It was curious for its own amusement, and it answered Loklafd, who translated:

"She is usually to be found working in a cavern that is on the second left when moving clockwise around the central corridor."

He indicated the direction that Lorenn had gone, conferred with the toad again and added, "Yes, there are also two rights. So the fourth side-tunnel in that direction. He says that the Kobolds, and moreover the Trolls, will be greatly offended if they find us poking around."

OOC: we haven't had a long rest since the fight with the wights right?

Kalorn blinked. Trolls? ugh. Still, this creature was being remarkably cooperative.

"Could this creature get McCaath the Crimson to come to us?"

OOC: Sorry, been highly distracted by life lately. Also, the app has stopped pushing alerts again...

Mord studied the creature for a long moment. He was no stranger to wide assortment of intelligent beings that had visited his once-home city, but never had he seen one such as this. And a frog, in the icy depths such as this was quite an odd experience for him.

"You may inform it, (him or her?) that we intend to do just a bit more than 'poking around.' If it gas any interest which might be served by assisting us, we would be willing to make a deal."

"Remember, all we are here for is McCaath - if we can make contact and sneak out... that's all we need"

Kalorn narrowed his eyes and tried reaching Lorenn through the message again

"Obtained information on McCaaths' location. Fourth tunnel off the main tunnel, in the clockwise direction. Beware of Troll"

Legend
Loklafd realised that he had not asked the Toad anything about itself, and so he did, and he informed the others, "He is called Oorapp of the Ice-Toads. He says he served the Dragon Arauthator in life, but that the Ice-Toads are unsure if their oath is still valid, now that the dragon has become a Dracolich. He says that his Queen, Marfulb, has yet to decide. She is in a cavern that is two rights counter-clockwise, through the Ice-Toad's home."

OOC: To be clear, on the Map: 1: Where most of the party is - Storage under the Shaman's Hut. 2: The Town Hall's way down. An Ice Hunter was here when Eko scouted. 4: Kobold Lair. 7: Kobolds and Frozen Giants. 9: Where McCaath is? 13: Ice-Toad Lair. 14: Ice-Toad Queen's Lair.
