I started watching this Netflix documentary on He-Man. So far, it’s pretty good, essentially an expanded version of the one episode of The Toys That Made Us.
Early on they are talking about how they started to work on toys for Conan the Barbarian, only to discover that it was a hard R film (a claim that some dispute, I might mention). The show then cuts to a photo of an internal memo outlining possible options on what to do with all the design work they’d already done. One of which was come up with their own IP (naturally, what they ended up doing).
But one of the other options was pursuing licensing to produce Dungeons and Dragons toys! Oh what could’ve been.
