D&D 3E/3.5 I need your opinions and input on a 3.5 conversion of a wemic.

I have a problematic player who only wants to play a Wemic. When he gets to play one he does well, but if not he is less than enthusiastic.

I have mapped out a conversion according to 3.5 monster manual but that means a wemic done this way would begin play as a level nine character.

I need other opinions on downgrading a wemic. I would be OK with a character level of three but two would be better.

Any help or opinions would be welcomed as long as it is about the topic. Please do not post any comments as to the player being childish, etc.

The stats for a 3.5 Wemic are in Races of Faerun (actually, they're the same as in 3.0). If you're starting the characters at 1st level, you might want to use RoF and Savage Species to create a Wemic "class", where the character gains all of the Wemic's abilities over 8 levels (the equivalent character level of a standard "unclassed" Wemic according to RoF). That way the player can start off as a Wemic (with no levels in a character class), and after he gets to 8th level as a Wemic, he can start taking levels in a character class.

Here's an idea:

Large Size (-1 to hit, -1 AC, -4 Hide)
Face/Reach: 10'/5'
Darvision 60'
Proficiencies: Simple weapons and shields
Languages: Sylvan, Common
Class skills: Hide, Jump, Listen, Move Silently, Spot, Survival

(the Ability and Skill bonuses stack, the Natural Armor bonuses don't)
