Energy weapon is what type of energy?

If there are energy weapons in a world does the DMG say what type of energy they are?
Fire, Electricity, Acid(not), cold(not), Sonic(not).
Would it be half fire and half electricity.
I don’t have my DMG in front of me right now.

If you're talking about the brilliant energy weapon special ability, then the answer is "none of those". The effect is to ignore armor bonuses, not do any energy damage. The flavor text describes the weapon as being "transformed into light".

No like an energy pistol/rifle.

With the 3.0 DMG the answer is still "none of those", it doesn't specify an energy type for any "futuristic weapon". You may want to look at d20 Modern or some other d20 offshoot system.

Lasers would likely do fire damage, because they're based on burning.

You might want to check out DragonStar, which has all sorts of energy weapons.
