You've been running games in Mittendien for a while. I know you've run adventures out of Marzen, Tillich, Solenberg, and Swartzburg. Anywhere else?

Either you or the current CM of Mittendien have much more on northeastern Mittendien? I'm looking to possibly run a campaign in the area again and I want to know if anything else has been established. Towns along the lake, etc.

Thanks.

Hi Northman, yeah my campaigns have been all over the place. But I've been pretty good about eventually posting NPCs and locations in the AREA forums. I don't think we've placed anything that is not in those forums.

Marzen, Tillich, Dumeldein, and Solinburg are the towns I remember going into. Habitation is generally sparse in NE Mittendein between the lake and the eastern wild borders.

Dumeldein, the capital and largest city. There's a city and environs thread open in the Mittendien section of the area forums.

While I've got you on the phone...

I'm looking at running a campaign that starts in the Waldern Forest, about 125 miles east of Dumbledien. Do you have anything mapped out about that area?

What I'm looking to put there is a single, independant town settled by a fighter-cleric of Adenan. Its a walled town cut out of the forest without any supporting villages, and just one partially mantained road connecting it to the exsisting roads of the kingdom. It would be a town of less than 1000 people.

Also, while I'm at it. I've never placed the head of the Church of Adenan. I've left it blank on the Church of Adenan sheet because I could never find a good place. After reading Dumbledien, I think that would be the perfect city for it. It would be the site of the head temple (big and impressive) where the Grand Knight and his staff would reside. It would be the center of the religion (which is very structured) and means there would probably be a high cleric/paladin repersentation in the city, which could be another reason it has seen peace for so long. Though the greater numbers of paladins and clerics might not be that noticable...depends.

What cha think?

As for the small town, I don't really have anything out there, so feel free. Write it up and drop it in the AREA forums, and I'll add it to my map. Which, I will get a new edition of up within three weeks.

The massive temple, though, I don't think really fits into Dumeldein. (Dumeldein. No 'b', and the last vowel is an 'i'. ;) ) I envisioned the center of town as having the three temples on pretty much equal footing with each other, all overshadowed by the Kaiser's castle. If you want a place in Mittendien, though, you could place it on the southern edge of Solinburg. I haven't worked out any of the socioeconomic power flows for that region, yet, and it is the next largest city. It may be a port city, but it's also the place where most of the Kingdom's northern garrisons will be stationed.

Speaking of the northern garrisons, after hearing news of the frost giant invasion in Thoradur, the Kaiser will strongly fortify this side of the river, and press to drive them out as the weather turns warmer. Some support may be available to come across the lake, too. I don't know what you have planned, but you can take that into account.

Solinberg sounds good. Let me think about that.

As for sending troops into Thoradur. Remembering the tensions between the kingdoms in the past, such an invasion may be seen as helpful, but might also be seen as an opportunist grab at dwarf land. You know paranoid mountain dwarves. :)

My plans are to have the frost giants not overextend themselves but to take a long term hold on eastern Falinus. They've got backup coming and Mittendien and the dwarves of Thoradur are going to find out that they can't just push them back. The giants are here to stay.

A new frost giant kingdom is being carved out of dwarven lands.

Oh, and as a twist, the frost giants are going to offer free passage out of their newly taken lands, all humans. They will escort them to Mittendien unharmed. They hope that will help appease the humans not to attack. Remember that it was only 15 years ago that the Orc Horde invaded, both kingdoms are still feeling the effects, though Thoradur obviously more than Mittendien.

Anyway, those are the ideas at present.
