Colors of Magic

I am designing my own world, and I am placing colors for each school of magic. What are your opinions on what are good choices for colors for each school of magic?

If you are doing "3E Sterotype" necromancy, black is fine.

If you are doing it like some people on the board do (such as myself), where necromancy can be good or bad depending on the user, I would choose grey.

I am a big fan of different orders of magic, and I thought that I might try out having every school have an alignment as well as a color. Any suggestions on these?

Black as a mixture of all colors melds nicely with the study of life and death which in its self is the root of all things.

Thing is, black isn't a mixture of all colors - that would be white. Sure, black is a mixture of all pigments, but pigments are subtractive - so you have no reflected light, not all of it.

I havea lot of 8-fold designations in my game.

1. Red . . . Fire . . . Sword . . . Evocation
2. Orange . . . Active . . . Arrow . . . Conjuration
3. Yellow . . . Air . . . Bow . . . Divination
4. Green . . . Life . . . Quarterstaff . . . Enchantment
5. Blue . . . Water . . . Hand . . . Transmutation
6. Indigo . . . Passive . . . Shield . . . Illusion
7. Violet . . . Death . . . Axe . . . Necromancy
8. Black . . . Earth . . . Mace . . . Abjuration

In mythic Races, there are a race called the Pevishan, who are touched at birth by the arcane. They are born into 'families' of magick (represented by schools).

There behavior is affected by the family they were born into (like a zodiac):

Abjuration: Silver
Conjuration: Gold
Divination: White
Enchantment: Blue
Evocation: Red
Illusion: Purple
Necromancy: Gray and Black
Transmutation: Green

Here's my variation on the theme above for wizards:

Red: Evocation
Yellow: Enchantment
Blue: Divination
Orange: Conjuration
Green: Transmutation
Violet: Abjuration
White: Illusion
Black: Necromancy
Grey: All/Universal

For the wu jen:

Red: Fire
Blue: Water
Green: Wood
Black: Earth
White: Metal
