Rodrigo looked at the Heart of Utabo, clearly impressed "I've heard tales of it but... what *is* the heart of Utabo, exactly?"

He turned to Wulf "I don't know, but a sky-ship would be tremendously useful..."

Upon noticing that Weed had left, he stroked his chin, pensive "Could it be returning to its master? Master Delrak, do you think you could track it?"

Dellrak turned his attention from studying the ruins. He didn’t like the look of them, of those skulls. “Aye, I’ll look around f’r the wee bloom,” he said. He started to move around the campsite in an expanding spiral, looking for tracks.

OOC: Coyote Code isn’t working again. Sigh.

Legend
The vegepygmy rarely left much in the way of tracks, but a small scuff-mark on the archway indicated that Weed had not waited for the others, but had entered the ruins by itself some time before. Certainly it had gone looking for its friend.

Answering Rodrigo, Kasqa said, "It is said to be the living heart of the God Ubtao, torn from his chest in battle with his enemies. Ubtao lives, but is weakened by his missing heart. Here it is!"

"I do not mean to offend, but it looks like a rock to me. I have heard of floating rocks such as this - wizards call it a 'Mote'."

"Perhaps." said Kasqa dejectedly.

Harb had ignored the conversation until the mention of a weakened, possibly dying God. Then he looked to study the floating debris.

"Intriguing, I should like to study this one day, should the opportunity arise."

But their mission came first. He did not fear much for little weed. The Vegepygmy was more than just adept at hiding itself and would likely turn up at a most fortuitous time. Still, Harb set off to scouting, expecting the others to follow in their own ways.

FitzTheRuke

Legend
As the Sticks set out, leaving Wulf, Kasqa, and Tarri behind, Harb led the way through the archway and up a set of damp stone stairs. Piles of sun-bleached skulls stood on either side of the stairs, some of which had collapsed and cascaded down the stairs. Rainwater poured from the sides and trickled down the stairs.

The old city stood on the plateau at the top: Most of the structures had been wood and thatch, and now they were just crumbling compost heaps demolished by rain, wind, and time. A few stone foundations and overgrown ramps poked up through the debris, indicating this had once been far more than just a simple village.

The only structure still intact was a lone hut about a thousand yards southwest of the archway gate, at the edge of a boulder field. The hut was made from thatch and animal hides stretched over the rib cage of an immense reptile. Animal skulls, wind chimes, and totems of feathers and shells rattled in the breeze, and smoke drifted from a hole in the top of the hut.

Harb took cover and waved to his allies behind him to do the same as a creature shuffled slowly around the hut. It was hunched over in an animal-like posture, but it appeared to be a human woman: impossibly old, crippled by arthritis, and blinded by cataracts. Her dark face and bald pate was outlined with streaks of yellow clay-paint that suggested the shape of a skull. Or perhaps it was her shrivelled flesh that created that illusion, and her face was just painted yellow.

Rodrigo grimaced. Whatever this thing was... it might be wiser to avoid it. He signaled to harp with a wide half-circle, indicating he thought they should go around it, if possible.

Chrysagon tried to stay hidden as best he could, following his stealthy companions. But he was ready to confront this woman if by any chance they where spotted.
"Maybe she know where the Pterafolk nest is..."

Miss Imogen lurched forward when she saw Weed run ahead, but stopped herself. She could do nothing for him, and his impetuousness was understandable. He knew they were going after its friend, and nothing would stop it. She saw Rodrigo's instructions to circle round. She followed, being sure to keep some distance between herself and the others. She could operate effectively at range, and she wanted to keep a clear eye out for potential dangers.
