I use Auctioneer add-on, but it's not "important".

The Wowhead add on contributes to their stats, and also gives map coordinates, so I'd suggest that one. Wowhead.com is a great website and very useful.

Professions kind of drag for me lately, so I'd probably suggest a Gatherer. Just get Mining and Skinning and auction everything you get. In the general course of events, gray items are vendor trash, white items might have some use. Other than gray items, Auction everything you're not using.

Otherwise it's just a matter of finding a class/ playstyle that agrees with you.

1. Quest helper. Far and away the best addon for levelling in the game.

2. Auctioneer.

3. Atlas Loot. Enhanced

4. Pally power (if you arep laying a Paladin)

5 . XPearl - some like it - some do not.

I use several, and try to use them through Ace, so its a one click update (essentially).

Atlas Loot
Auctioneer
Bank Items (I'm an altaholic)
EQCompare
Gatherer
Lightheaded
Recipe Book
TomTom

I also use Omen, Deadly Boss Mods, and CT Raid, when I am raiding.

There is a couple that I use only in certain circumstances, like Ogri'lazy, when I am doing the Simon says daily.

Steel_Wind how does Quest Helper compare to Lightheaded?

And I will have to check out Pally Power, I just rerolled a pallie.

Thanks

Some sort of threat meter.

You don't actually need it levelling, but it's profoundly helpful doing instances and raids. The big one now is Omen.

I like using Gatherer for my, um, gathering needs. It's great if other people in your guild have it, they'll fill out your data points pretty quickly.

Wondering what the Dungeon Tiles are like? Take a look here (up to DU5 Sinister Woods).

Heh, yes too late indeed. Darn work-friends will do that.

I've got Questhelper. That addon alone tripled my quest finishing speed.

I have the Atlas toolbar as well.

And Auctioneer. The original was actually written by one of my coworkers. Back then he used it to never have to farm for gold. He'd just spend some spare time buying/selling.

I'll investigate the threat add-ons for sure.

Thanks

Honestly, I don't think the quest mods or map mods are necessary at all. Just read the quest info! 99 percent of the time, that's all you need. If not, WoWhead is a quick alt-tab away.

Threat meters and DPS meters are nice if you're raiding. If you're not, don't bother.

If you're on an RP server, like any self-respecting ENWorlder would be , I'd get flagRSP2, RPHelper BC and possibly Eloquence (although you'll want to read the comments on Curse Gaming to fix the bug -- it's just fixing a single typo in the LUA file).

As far as general tips, don't be in a rush. The level cap is about to be raised to 80 and, frankly, you can get to 70 without doing half the quests, which is a shame, since the quests are the best part of the game.

Do all the quests in your racial homeland. There actually is a story in each of these regions, and it'd be a shame to miss out on it. The Tauren, undead, dwarves, human, draenei and blood elves have particularly strong storylines, but everyone but gnomes and trolls have good ones.

Do as many instances as you can, as early as you can.

Turn off General. Just doing this will add years to your life and make the game much more enjoyable.

PvP at least a little. The Horde/Alliance are dirty villains and most are deserving only of death!

Once you reach the Outland levels, try and get Shatar, Honor Hold/Thrallmar, Cenarion Expedition, Lower City and Keepers of Time at least to Honored, as fast as you can. This gives you the heroic keys for the level 70 versions of dungeons and gets you a starting set of PvP armor you can buy -- going with non-PvP gear is a rookie mistake that you will regret.

If you're using Auctioneer, don't bother being a farmer. Do at least one item-creating profession and probably the associated gathering skill. Pick one that suits your character and is fun for you. For me, mining and making my hunter's guns, scopes and goggles are as fun as any dungeon or raid.

Raid at least a little. Many servers, especially the RP ones, have a raiding alliance system where you can participate in raids without your guild. At lot of the most interesting content can only be seen this way.

Oh, and play a shortie. The world is much better as a shortie.

Auctioneer and Questhelper are musts. You will make so much more money with Auctioneer than without -- I can't stress that enough. Makes a huge difference.

I also recommend Omen for groups/instances.

Also, don't neglect the "Looking For Group" button, found along the bottom toolbar. Especially at lower levels, maybe 1-45, I always clicked it on as soon as I logged on. Pick whatever instance is appropriate for your level (it'll only lists ones in your range, but you can also check on wowhead.com, which is a really good resources site). It's good exp, and will seriously help you get good equipment, which makes all the difference in your game experience.

I recommend skinning for a basic gathering tradeskill -- there's no running out of your way to grab it, it's always there when you kill a skinnable creature.
