Total $370.00

Not a bad price all things considered.

I appreciate the advice.
Uhm. You would probably have to factor in the cost of a new power supply into that as well. You will want a 650 watt p/s to run either the GTX 260 or a Radeon 4870 video card. My guess is that you probably do not have one.

There are some very nice games that are PS3 only, such as Little Big Planet and Uncharted : Drake's Fortune, but the 360 does definitely have the edge on originals and they have proven willing to back up large enough trucks filled with cash to developers, in order to lock in exclusivity on additional downloadable content. Fallout 3 is one of the games where they have done this.

OTOH, history does show that these things tend to be exclusive only for a while and do eventually show up for the other platforms. The trend is definitely away from content being exclusive for one platform over another. Though you may well still be looking at a yr+ delay.

I think I've only had Fallout 3 (ps3) lock up on me once in the many, many hours I've played it. So I wouldn't worry about that very much.

You are correct. I built my PC from scratch, but I included a 450 Watt Antec EarthWatts.

Antec True Power Trio TP3-650 650W $99.99

Any size or clearance issues I need to worry about? My case has the power supply mounted on the bottom of the case.

Size is a tight fit but it will fit a standard ATX cases. If your hard drive is mounted *right across* from your PCI slot - this might prove to be a problem - depends on how much your drive sticks out the back. I expect that if you have the room, moving the drive will easily solve this if you need to do so.

The 4870 is a double width card and will take up two slots on the back of your case. I expect this wil not prove to be a problem, but, just sayin.

As for the power supply, I'd grab this OCZ. They have a rebate deal going right now. If you do get the OCZ - be sure to print out the rebate form PRONTO as those things change all the time and can be a bitch to find and print out after the rebate ends. I have this PS and it has been a trooper. My luck with Antec supplies has been mostly bad. YMMV.

A 650 power supply occupies the same room as a 450. Mounting on the bottom will not be a problem. (I put one in day-before-yesterday on a bottom mounted case. Zero probs)

Valkyria Chronicles is also PS3 only - and a very, very, cool game too.

Take alternate WW2 Europe, add in a LOT of X-Com/Jagged Aliance turn based gameplay, a dash of Final Fantasy JRPG angst, some Real Time shooter elements here and there - and back it all up with the the most original pastel inspired art direction I have ever seen in a game, anywhere.

Sound like a wierd combo? It is. But it works brilliantly.

If you have a PS3 - Valkyria Chronicles is definitely worth checking out.

Download the video from here: http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_6965_en.html (Gameplay is shown after about 3 mins in).

There is also a free demo on the PSNetwork. I gave it a shot, and while the art is great and it seems like a good story the gameplay just isn't my style. It is worth looking at though.

Sounds and looks a lot like Operation Darkness on the 360. I enjoyed the demo, but it got bombed in reviews.

So far Valkyria is racking up terrific reviews and horrible sales, which is shame because it's really something new, both in terms of gameplay and graphical presentation --it goes past cell-shading into "hey, Studio Ghibli animated this game".

What's even more unfortunate, because VC ultimately ends up being more evidence that game designers/publishers shouldn't take risks. Just churn out more sequels in established genres.

Well, I went a little crazy.

I was looking online links to PS3 information. I found a ebay seller with a used PS3 for $300. I bid and got it.

I hope everything turns out okay.
