Courier tablet

Microsoft Courier tablet prototype reminds us of Codex - Ars Technica

That might make me give up my books.

Looks certainly interesting.

I wonder how well it can be used for "standard tasks",e.g. Word Processing? Does it run a Windows under the hood and can use all the standard software (albeit with either an USB or touch keyboard?)

It needs the words "DON'T PANIC" stenciled onto it's cover.

I am sure it is running runs Windows 7, the GUI they are showing is a refined version of InkSeine, which I used until I got OneNote working the way I wanted for D&D games.

InkSeine from Microsoft Research

And I am betting that you can turn it sideways and use a touch keyboard, and I am sure it will have a USB port.

What will REALLY make me give up my lappy and books would be a 8x11 version of that.
