The Balestar Rises is a campaign in a homebrewed Points of Light setting. World building is one of my favorite things to do as a DM, but I tend to spend more time on it than on actually putting games together, so this campaign is an effort at reversing that. The adventures begin along the western coast of a large landmass.

Draas is nearly back! He'll still be a gnome, but instead of bardish arts, he'll be a mage. Actually, it's quite a small transition at first level, and the merchant character concept still stands. I'm working on his re-roll this weekend and hope to be play-ready early next week, with DM's approval.
Sorry I dropped in a hole, all! Life got....hectic!
(I posted this to the googlegroup, but thought I'd post here too, just to make it official)
I'm working on getting Brom converted. He's going to stay basically the same (same background & basic character traits) but changing his class from Fighter to Ranger. Can't wait to see what everybody does with their characters!
*wave* I am here, just constantly thrown off course with other things. Working on converting Laurn this week. Test character block below, will be back to edit it later.

Reason: updating character sheet
Greatness! Now we just need GP and we have everybody.
Cool, so that's what the character sheet looks like when the tags are fixed (the sheet is posted a couple posts up). The only to note is that the very first sblock tag... {sblock=Exter] needs to read... {sblock=Laurn] to make his name show up in the block title.
If this confuses you, never fear, I can help. Also, I have a handy dandy excel sheet that's helpful crunching a good portion of the numbers (courtesy of Milo (and other EN Worlders)).
Okay, since we're 90% here, I'll go ahead and set a deadline for characters to be submitted (hopefully you're all subscribed and will see this bump).
Character 4e Conversion deadline is: Tuesday, September 30th
That's 1 month from now. Follow Milo Taproot's (Laurn's player) lead and copy/paste the character sheet text from the Rules post above and fill it in appropriately.
If you have any questions, or want to discuss how you're building your character, by all means, post it here.
I'm here! I still haven't even begun character conversion yet. Actually, it's been long enough that I probably need to re-read Wyte's backstory to get up-to-speed - oof!
But Sept 30th is plenty of time, so no worries. I am eager to get this game back on!

Spellbook
Wyte is the son of a modestly successful cloth merchant. His privileged upbringing afforded him the opportunity to indulge in his many youthful curiosities, and he has been schooled to varying degrees in archery, history, and the distillation of spirits.
It was when he showed an aptitude for magic, however, that he finally developed any real sense of calling. While he proved himself more than capable of performing the spells he had been taught, he took a particular interest in the underlying logic of spellcraft, and the creative potential it offered.
Despite having found a passion, Wyte still became frustrated with the limitations of formal training. In part it was the quality of instruction his family could afford; how could he achieve his full potential with only a few weekly sessions with a tutor? So he set out traveling, perhaps to find a worthwhile apprenticeship, but at least to test his skills against the world at large. The great innovators of magic had almost always begun as adventurers, after all.
Demeanor
Wyte carries himself with just a touch of arrogance, and a little bit selfish. It's not that he's incapable of respecting or caring about the people around him, it's just that he always respects and cares for himself a little more. He is honest and straightforward in conversation, usually easy-going, and very even-tempered.
Appearance
Wyte is a young man of average height and a just barely athletic build. He is modestly handsome, although the heavy bags under his eyes make him seem somewhat more aged than he is. He has a well-kept look, with his traveling attire showing little wear, although his close-cut hair tends to look windswept even on a still day.
Katybear wrote to let me know that she doesn't have time to keep up with a game, she's dropping. I'm feeling a similar time and attention crunch and it seems others are as well.
As such, I'm officially shutting this game down.
I accomplished my chief pbp DMing goal: Get a thread through the first combat - so this has been a success by my lights.
