Hi all,

Posted everything last night. I'm ready whenever our illustrious (and very busy) DM is.

Good luck with the move.

Most people think water helps....... but it reactivates the OC. So, for anyone that is going to get sprayed; think Baby Shampoo. It's nice cuz it helps get the pepper outta your eyes.

Wait, maybe I shouldn't be giving tips.

Baby shampoo is rarely accessible when being pepper sprayed. That's the catch.

On a lighter note, it looks like we are ready to go as soon as I can get the IC thread ready. It may be as early as Sunday or as late as a week from Saturday, so keep your eyes glued to this thread. This is where I will link to the IC when it is ready. I'm looking forward to running this. A lot of colorful characters so far.

Patience my friends. You must learn patience. Our (soon to be) Dm is a very busy person. I'm sure the holiday only added to the delay. I'm hoping we start early next week.

Point of clarity: I'm enthusiastic, not impatient, and I totally agree that Airwalkrr could just be busy and the holiday's got to him and that there is nothing to worry about.

Patience, please. I haven't forgotten about this campaign. I am simply getting back to my campaigns in the order in which they were last received in my inbox. I update posts based on email updates.

What I need from everyone right now is to know if you are still on board. I am going to have the IC thread up possibly within 3 days time so you will have at least that long to reply. If it takes you longer, worry not, I can always let you shanty on screen a bit late. I will give all the original players at least one week from today to reply before extending offers to alts.

Also, if you believe I have forgotten anything, let me know. I believe that is it. I will post a link to the IC when it is ready to go.

One final note. I want to see if this group would mind serving as guinea pigs for a variant hit point rule I have been considering. I consider it a hybrid of 4th and 3rd edition system hit point calculation. PCs will use it, NPCs and monsters will use the standard 3.5 method. Here is how it works. Each class has a new, fixed Hit Die value, so effectively there is no need for the term Hit Dice for PCs any more (in such cases where it is necessary, substitute the term character level). Instead each class gains a fixed number of hit points per level equal to half of the maximum value of the previous Hit Die (for example, a fighter would earn 5 hit points per level). A character also earns a number of hit points per level equal to his Constitution modifier. At 1st-level, a character gains (X + Con modifier) x 4 hit points where X is the number of hit points per level normally granted by that class per level. This system mirrors the skill point system very closely.

As an extended example, a 1st-level human fighter with 14 Constitution would begin play with 28 hit points. (5 + 2) x 4 = 28. At 2nd level, he would gain 7 hit points for a total of 35. And so on. The system makes for less lethal lower-level adventuring while also creating a bit more of a trade-off for some characters who choose skills over fighting ability. Please let me know if you would like to use this system or not. I realize some players like the lethality of low-level play.

Interesting idea. I'm willing to give it a try. I'm still interested in the game. I've never played a shifter before and can't wait to try it out.

Well I am definetly still onboard...

As to the variant system, I am not sure it would seem to cause large disparities that make it even less desirable to play low level casters.

Wizard 14 Con
(2+2)x4=16

Fighter
(5+2)x4=28

Standard rules would give us 6 and 12. So we have a difference of 12 hp as opposed to 6. A net gain for both, but one that disproportionatly favors melee classes. Whereas something like gaining your con in addition to your max hit die is a less biased boost imo giving us 16 and 24.

That being said I certainly would not mind trying it out, it can only help us as a group - just playing devils advocate.

Gus is eager to find adventures to write about.

I'm fine with the new HP system. I've been a ginea pig for much worse things. (don't ask )

and sorry if I came on kinda strong. Nothing intended by it.

Yep I'm still down for playing.

I don't think I really have an opinion about the HP system, but I'll think about it some more.

I'm still interested, as well as good with whatever options, as I've used the 4e HP system before and the seemingly disproportionate HP spread really isn't that bad.

Just to clarify, the hp variant isn't intended to introduce more parity into the hp system, rather the opposite. It is intended to give more hp to everyone, but proportionately more to those who specialize in melee combat.

As a bit of background, one of the problems with 3.5 is that there is an incentive for players to take a class with lots of skill points at 1st level because of the quadrupling effect. Thus, even a player who wants to play a fighter might be a rogue at 1st level to get some skill points. Under this system, he sacrifices 8 hit points to do so. Spellcasters, at least, are balanced by the fact that they do not want to dilute their caster level.
