Huh...alright. Not exactly what I thought I had saw. I swear there was something in one of my books about "alternate familiars" that referenced tiny elementals. The Improved Familiar feat looks like it would allow a small elemental, but not until 5th level.

I was going to suggest Improved familiar. I'm not aware of any way to start with an arbitrary elemental as a familiar.

My PC is probably about 90% finished...just need to add the finishing touches. What are we doing for hit points after first level? 1/2?

Full hp at level 1, HD/2+1 every level afterwords (so d4->3, d8->5, etc.).

Sorry about the confusion. Would it be ok to just assume Othric found out about Plavin some other way, and the post frpm the other board showing Plavin's thoughts of not really wanting to get involved was their first meeting.

I think we're on the same page. Your background is as you wrote it: Plavin is new in Gate Pass and had not gotten involved in the Resistance.

As a cleric of Boccob, Othric is well connected to the magical community, so it's not unreasonable that he's heard of Plavin from other magic users. Othric thought that Plavin /was/ in the Resistance for some reason, though, even though Plavin isn't. So Plavin's response fits fine.
