I'm just kinda lost, I'm waiting to see what happens.
The rescue scene can't be too far from over now.

I was just a bit out if it with the tail end of my cold, and the whole "X and Y run into a burning buiding while Z tries to get the crowd to build a human pyramid so we can rescue someone on the fourth floor of a burnign building"
And poor Jim's going "dur? I cast magic missile." "your not even a mage, doofus!" "OH.. yeah.. right... sorry." *L*
LOL. I hear you. But it just conveyed well the crazed mad panic of a town in chaos! I'm sure it was all part of pneumatic's plan.

My "plan"? I guess you could say that. I am trying to portray the mess and people running everywhere, so I guess I can take some credit. In all honesty, running the game on the message boards seems to have made it more difficult for the party to coordinate actions. And I didn't realize how much more difficult it would be coordinate people taking different actions that take different numbers of rounds. If it were a meatspace game, it would have been easier to run the people on the ground for multiple rounds while Hollister and Korrin were running up the steps in the buildings.
If people are having trouble coordinating or figuring out what's going on, use this thread for OOC talk. In retrospect, some sort of map plus formal initiative might have helped, but I didn't want the encounter to take too long in real time.

I know this may be a little slow compared to other pbp games. The EL of all the fights are basically fixed, since I'm running from a published mod, so I don't want to stray too far from standard xp awards.

Its all good. I have to use my own XP system in my games to keep the PCs from leveling too quickly.

For the most part, I just go "Hey everbody, level time!" when I feel they deserve/need to level up.
I was actually going to do that, at least until anyone started spending xp, but then I realized that I would have to calculate xp to get a rough idea when the adventures expected you to level. At that point I figured I'd just to regular xp.

I've actually thought about trying to add some sort of system to my game where casters get some amount of "free XP" per level to use for crafting...but I don't want to make casters too overpowered, either.

I would consider doing something like that if it was the only way to spend xp on crafting. The RAW method only matters when you spend enough xp to fall behind the rest of the party one level. But at that point you start earning more xp than everyone else and eventually catch up. I managed to play a PC who managed to slingshot ahead of the rest of the party this way.

Ha! I'm going to have to try that! Generally though, I don't play crafters unless my PC is actually starting out at a higher level. Too many other good feats to choose instead.

Oviously a question for the DM, but certainly less than an hour, I would think. I mean, the whole scene with the baby and the fire took less than 2 minutes game time. So it would just be our travel time from the Poison Apple to the Dept, I should think.

The total travel distance was about 1 mile (not as a crow flies, but as the PC walks). We'll say is was 45 minutes from the end of the poison apple fight and walking into the depository tower.
Speaking of which, I'm about to update the IC thread. I was waiting for Rashelle's listen checks, but we'll just move on now.

Well, now that EN World is back up, maybe we can get some gaming in.

Well, now that EN World's back up and the Memorial Day long weekend is over, anyway. But what's important is it looks like we're pretty much all back. And hopefully about to start another fight.
