Yeah, extra spell (I think that is what it is called) would be a much better feat choice.

i don't really know what I'd want it to do, I just know that I like intelligent items and was trying to see if it was an option or not. I'll get back to you on it if I do end up having enough money left over.

As to DM running it - That's usually how it works.

Leif, how would you feel about a Drow Wizard in your game? With that, would you allow the Unearthed Arcana's LA reduction rules?

Reducing Level Adjustments :: d20srd.org

I've never played a Drow, and I'd like to, so I'm just wondering about how it'd work in your game.

Ok, if you just mainly want it for rp purposes, then sure, I have no problem with it. And I thought that it should be run by the DM, too, but I wasn't sure you'd be in agreement with that. I'm glad that you are. However, be warned that this is just another outlet for my ascerbic attempts at humor!

Sure! I figure it takes all kinds, after all.... For the xp costs to offset the LA, you'll be limited to the xp totals already given, including the bonus for crafting, so if that leaves you below 12th level, then that's just the way it is. Not sure how much difference any of this will make....

Yeah, his first level of LA would cost 7000xp to buy off, I believe, which would already leave him well over the 4000xp limit you allow. At least, per my reading of LA buyoff.

I'd end up starting at level ten, I believe, plus the crafting experience.

If I'm wrong, someone who can tell please correct me.

Basically, I'd level up until level six, then drop to halfway between 5 and 6, then level up to nine, and drop halfway between 8 and 9, then level up to 10, then earn the 4,000 bonus experience.

I THINK that's how it'd work... but I didn't crunch the math just yet.

Actually, after doing some additional math...I believe with the Level Buyoff you could start at Level 11 with 67,000 XPs (1000 over the minimum for 11th). If you did any crafting, though, it might send you back to Level 10.

Looks like you guys are on top of it, thanks! I doubt if a level or two will make much difference in your survivability, Theroc, but you just never know, do you? So, anyway, now that you have an idea of how it will work, you should be fully equipped to decide whether you want to do it or not. Sometime, I mean. Think about it first. No big rush, man.

If anyone else wants to invite themselves to semi-constant IM poking for advice, I use a messenger compatible with MSN.

Sorry man, another Yahooligan here. I think I might have MSN, but I haven't used it in ages. And feel free to poke me all you want here. (I'll just take it out on Rhun, so it'll be win-win for you and me!)

Window's Messenger for me, which is effectively MSN Messenger. However, I belive it allows me to add people who are on Yahoo Messenger...just not all the fancy stuff works with them.

I don't use anything besides my messenger, but I added your gmail to my list(it says you've got an ID for it or whatever.)

Edit: Rhun and I use the same messenger, I think. Mine's Windows too, lol

That's what makes it so fun.

Theroc - I don't know exactly how the buyoff works, but we have a total of 70,000 XP, so just total up how much your buyoff costs, subtract it from 70K, and that's howmuch XP you have, then use that to figure out what level you're at.

That's exactly what I was doing, but I just realized my XP table was off by a level...lol. So, Throc's level buyoff should cost him 16,000 XPs total (7000 at ECL 8, class level 6 PLUS 9000 at ECL10, class level 9). So with that said, Theroc's PC should have 54,000 XPs, which puts him at Level 10, and 1000 XPs away from Level 11.
