After further research, I would say this is a DM's call. Using an Invocation usually provokes AoO, and while the reading of the invocation doesn't remove that limitation, it almost implies that there is no AoO.

Might put a post up in the Rules forum and see what the learned sages there have to say.

Hideous Blow would well... kinda blow if it provoked AoO's. Since... giving people free hits on me is really bad, lol.

It is counter-intuitive that it would provoke AoO, but it doesn't say that it doesn't, and it is a invocation.

Ok, got it. Since it is a melee attack, there's really no O for an AoO, capiche? You're making a melee attack and channeling your eldritch blast through the attack. So you've got your full, usual guard up, I would say. Anyone else care to contribute, Rhun?

in *MY* opinion as a DM in other games I'd allow it with no AoO's due to the invocation... based solely on this....

It's not overpowered in my opinion as you only get a single attack with it when doing so and I do believe you would only get THAT attack that round regardless of extra attacks you might have for being higher level....

EDIT: In fact I think doing so that was is a bit UNDERPOWERED as you have to hit with melee weapon attack vs. AC rather than your standard eldritch blast which is a ray and makes a ranged touch attack vs. touch AC.... soo much easier that way than through a weapon heh

all in all though I'm glad you made the choice to make it a non-AoO worthy strike..... yay Theroc! LOL

I have to agree that I'd rule no AoO. If your warlock is brave enough to get up close and personal, he is going to have enough issues without worrying about that.
