Walking Dad: Recruiting is special. We start to roleplay for a month. When it is time to choose, I look at your roleplay (which character I prefer for the game) and your race/class (to be sure to have a balanced group). Goliath would easily fit. They are nomads. They are more in mountainous and hilly zone. But the hands of Moradin are no favorable mountains for there kind, so they come from other part. Most nomadic people have been enslaved. The people who are not slave of Bane are people who can be heavily taxed and produce essential goods for them.
pathfinderq1: Before the team is chosen, you can submit more than 1 PC, I have no problem with it.
tiornys: The valley is about three days of walk from one point to the other by road. From haven, it takes one day to reach the forest of Sif, and then two days to get out of it. The forest climb along the side of the mountain range. From there, you can count a few more hours of walk to reach Thane's Hold, walking the only gorge in the mountain range.

Thanks for your answer Velmont. I suppose the background I though up is fine then. Btw do all the characters have to make their way to Thane's Hold?
Oh, and, I also asked you if you'd be willing to allow hybrids in the game. I'm thinking Memnon should be either a fighter or a barbarian, but I'm not really sure, so a Fighter/Barbarian hybrid would be great, and I still have to playtest the whole hybrid thing. It's not really necessary for me, just wanted to know.

Kobold Stew: Interesting. I just want to make one thing clear about your character. Among the free nations, the dwarves of Moradin's Hands and the elves of the forest of Sif are two monarchy. Haven is a city state since long time and is more a republic kind. Even if it is a mainly human city, it is not rare to see other races at important position, but generally, the humans hold enough power to have most of the controls.
Outside the Hands, thing are still blurry. Lots of things aren't define and you can model them. So, who's diplomat is Lord Baltimore?

Ok, that puts myself, Minirogue's elf, and pathfinderq1's group about a day from the keep.
I also am interested in whether you intend to allow hybrid. Vi'kandrix can be built as one of several classes, and I'd been toying with the idea of using hybrid to catch two of them. Looking again though, I see that you stated "character builder + monk playtest", which I don't think includes hybrid.
Hmm, just updated the Character Builder and it does have Hybrid content now. Velmont, if we're not using Hybrid, you might want to edit the first post to explicitly disallow it.
I'm not sure I want to include hybrid, so think of a single class or multiclass character rather than hybrid and I'll think about it. I'll give my final answer when we will do creation.

Of course I didn't know what the map was or what the systems of government were when I began -- this is all new. If you want I can change details. As it is, i have tried to suggest
1. that LB claims to represent an interested monarch who is physically removed from the situation, but who is (at least) known; some expansive kingdom to the East, that might be fighting the orcs on another front, perhaps
2. that he has a shady past -- slave, gladiator, something (which might suggest that not all he says will be true)
3. that LB is not what one expects from orcs/goblinoids, and (with what I expect will be an 18 charisma) is able to get by "in hostile territory" without people openly attacking him, but
4. that he can be trouble, and the city will be happy to help him along -- if he wants to go to the front, they're certainly not stopping him.
I have several ideas for this character -- I love the thought of a hobgoblin diplomat, emphasizing the social strengths of a bard --, but for now, it's just trying to link up with other players. I chose Haven, because that was where the jailbreak was, and maybe we'd be heading ot of town around the same time; I chose the direction through the valley, because that's where the others are.
I've been following the IC thread but with all the activity I became a bit lost after a while. The other players have been interacting and developing quite a bit, and I think there's already plenty of good rp material anyway.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I've been in bed sick for the last few days (to explain why I haven't posted in two or three days). However, I will be withdrawing permanently from the adventure before it begins. I seems I'm moving again in two weeks and I think I would be a significant enough bother to everyone in that period (by disappearing frequently) that it's kinder to back out now.
