stay within 5 squares of Massacre and you will never be surprised...
Other than that do what you like.
@Cov
I'm off to do some backpacking, will be gone friday, saturday, and sunday. Will be back late sunday, but probably won't catch up/post until monday.
I know most of us are involved in L4W, but just to make sure we all know:

I'm on the mend, slowly, and will try to catch up soon. I haven't disappeared, though!
WD, I'd like to introduce Fury at the next scene. I think he looks pretty finished mechanically, except for maybe some shopping. Good enough to run in combat, at any rate. Go ahead and post him in the Rogues Gallery.
Can we go with the "pilgrimage to visit a famous instructor" hook? It seems to fit.
I looked into the ooc of the other striker (the dragonborn sorcerer) and feel now weak. +27 fix damage Any more optimization tips. Don't want to slow you other players down with a slightly retarded build.

Hi I'm a comic and rpg nerd. Don't hurt me, please.
Well sorcerors (along with barbarians and rangers) are some of the highest straight damage combatants (from what I've seen). Monks are a bit lower on the scale as they suffer from lack of feat selection (being in playtest) and weapon selection (no special monk weapons yet, i think). As long as you have fun with your character you're fine. I don't care if you've got a fully twinked out ranger with 120 DPR or a non-optimized half-orc wizard as long as you enjoy yourself.

Keep in mind, that +27 is with the sorcerer's extra damage mechanic already figured in, which they have instead of something like hunter's quarry or flurry of blows. So your flurry of blows will give you an auto +7 damage extra to any adjacent foe to you (just looking at centered breath version, it seems very controller focused, I'll bet that the other build will do a lot more single target damage).
That said there are a couple of basic feats that immediately spring to mind that you could use to increase your static damage if that's what you would like to do. Weapon Focus and Blood Thirst are solid feats for extra damage, there are other feats as well that increase static damage, but they're increasingly situational.
Beyond that, it's a matter of items. You've stuff like Bloodclaw, Bloodthirsty, Radiant, Reckless.
It's probably important to keep in mind that not all the strikers are designed with quite the same method of operation in mind, just looking at it, the monk (at least currently available build) seems much more in line with the warlock, artful dodger approach of control and mobility over damage.
