4e Tales of the Foreign Legion
My first 4e campaign has started with Keep on the Shadowfell, and is centred around the village of Winterhaven. It broadly follows the generic 4e history - there were ancient Tiefling and Dragonborn empires which fell in mutual conflict. A human empire, the empire of Nerath rose up in their place and ruled for a few hundred years, but is currently in decay.
Here at the outskirts of empire, in a province neighbouring the Thunderspire mountains, there is a small unit of the Nerath Foreign Legion - a regiment whose units were deployed all over the empire in days gone by. The Foreign Legion has always been a good place to escape to, as they accept members from every race, class and creed into their numbers, and ask only for a pledge of loyalty to the throne and the determination to uphold the honour of the regiment.
As a result of recent rumours of demonic cults growing in the mountains, and pleas for help from the villages in the foothills, a group of legionnaires has been sent to investigate...
