• HeroLab: "Character creation and evolution for RPGs. Create new characters (and re-create old ones), manage character evolution, print character sheets, and even use your laptop at the gaming table."

• PCGen: "PCGen is a Java-based RPG character generator and maintenance program (d20 Systems mainly) that works on most personal computers (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, etc.). All datafiles are ASCII so they can be modified by users."

• Player Genie: "If you're not a DM, you will love Player Genie, a lighter version of DM Genie designed for players of 3rd edition RPGs. The PC Leveling Wizard will guide you in creating your character. During the game, use it to keep track of your inventory, add feats or spells and get their description at the click of a mouse. • Roleplaying Assistant: "The generic software to generate characters for your Roleplaying games since 1991."

• RPGXplorer: "A very powerful character generator for 3.5 Edition DnD (using the Open Gaming License), RPGXplorer – Characters & Rules is the only character generator that allows you to input new rules without computer programming skills."

• D&D e-Tools: Unfortunately D&D e-Tools is no longer available. [1]

• Metacreator: "By far the most versatile of Character Generation programs. It comes with support for several different RPGs including d20. Metacreator is full programmable with a built-in scripting language that make it possible to create custom character sheet formats and also allows you to add virtually any house rule. Due to the GSL, the decision was made not to add official support for 4e."

• Modern System Character Generator "Quickly generate NPC stat blocks for modern d20 games, including most of RPGObjects' popular d20 modern RPGs: Darwin's World, Blood and Guts, Blood and Fists, and more."

• D&D Character Generater Beta: The BETA version of the official character generator is out. Available only to D&D Insider subscribers, it covers characters from levels 1-3. "When we launch the completed Character Builder, it’ll have everything you need to build and level up your characters all the way to 30th Level—updated regularly to include content from every D&D rulebook and online magazine article. Right now, we want you to play around with what we’ve got set up for levels 1 to 3."

• Wasteland Settlement Generator Generate random post apocalyptic settlements for Darwin's World.

• Autorealm: "AutoREALM is a freely available fantasy role-playing map making program."

• Campaign Cartographer: "ProFantasy Software brings you everything you need to create great maps for your games. There are symbols and tools for overland maps from all ages, buildings, floorplans, heraldry and many other uses. We help you create more and better maps, more quickly, than any comparable software."

• Dundjinni: "Dundjinni is a full-featured fantasy map creation program. It allows users to create walls and floors, place objects, insert text, and more. It boasts an intuitive interface and an impressive selection of objects and textures (over 190 images). It also allows you to author d20 adventures in a simple yet elegant way. Available for both PC & Mac."

• Interactive Dungeon: "The idea of Interactive Dungeon is to have a computer screen next to the gaming table, where players will be able to follow their progression through the dungeon. No more game time wasted in describing the room sizes and waiting for the players to draw it right. The Game Master, using the keyboard arrows, moves the party's point of view through the map. Players will see the dungeon expand before their eyes as this happens. Field of vision is limited by the player's current light source."

• RPGMapMaker: "RPGMapMaker is a shareware tool for drawing maps on polygonal grids. These maps are intended for use in Role Playing Games of any sort, but of course can be designed for many other purposes. RPGMapMaker is written in REALbasic for the Apple Macintosh OSX."

• Mapping with GIMP tutorial: "Krensky's post of how to extract and scale electronic maps for tabletop use with GIMP and PosteRazor."

• Fractal Mapper: "Fractal Mapper is a great program for city, dungeon and world maps. Icons can be imported from CC, other users on the downloads page or you can make your own! You also can make maps without the fear of copyright infringements. "

• e-Adventure Tiles Mapper "The e-Adventure Tile Mapper is RPGObjects' e-Adventure Tile Organizer but with the power of nearly every SkeletonKey Games tile set. That's over 2500 tiles for you to create stunning adventure maps."

• Fantasy Grounds: "Fantasy Grounds is an application acting as a virtual online gaming table primarily intended for pen and paper style narrative role playing games. Fantasy Grounds is designed to perform many of the things you can do while playing at a conventional gaming table and move it online. Run games as the gamemaster or take part as a player, the application provides all the necessary tools to communicate, manage information and perform tasks such as rolling the dice or creating drawings." Fantasy Grounds II is not just for D&D but is officially supported by a number of great RPGs inlcuding Savage Worlds, Shaintar, Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved and Iron Heroes, Castles & Crusades and Call of Cthulhu. Licensed rulesets for GURPS and Ars Magica are available as well.

• Kloogewerks: "The Digital Gaming Table allows you to take your RPG gaming to the next level. By managing maps, miniatures, stats, rolls, events, sounds, effects and a host of other details, kLoOge.Werks frees you to concentrate on the story and not the mechanics."

• Maptool MapTool virtualizes the battle map, miniatures, and wet-erase markers. In combination with Voice over IP software this allows GMs and Players to get together virtually and interact much like they would at a session around the table. Free.

• OpenRPG: "OpenRPG is an Internet application that allows people to play Role Playing Games in real-time over the Internet. OpenRPG is free, open source, software, distributed under GNU/GPL license."

• Screenmonkey: "Looking to re-create that gaming table feel when playing traditional paper and dice RPGs online? Try ScreenMonkey v1.0! ScreenMonkey is a program GM's can use to moderate their online campaigns. ScreenMonkey can be used to play any traditional paper and dice RPG."
