Enemy Within Part One: Enemy in Shadows - A Review
  • 2
The latest edition of Warhammer Fantasy RPG is built on a charming blend of old-school rules and modern sensibilities, and while Enemy in Shadows certainly does a wonderful job of capturing everything great about the setting, it sometimes feels held back by its devotion to a decades-old script. This is unfortunately a blemish on what is otherwise a really rather enjoyable little adventure. As...
TSR's "Designeritus"
  • 3
We had a lot of design talent in the heyday of TSR. Zeb Cook and Jeff Grubb strode the world like giants and put together some amazing million dollar profit centers. There were other designers and editors and supervisors that also generated great stuff. However, I often had to get after those designers for something I called "Designeritus." Jeff Grubb bless his heart was the worst, but Troy...

Travis Legge (Onyx Path Publishing and Aegis Studios) reached out to me with a press release for Scarred Land’s Vigil Watch and Yugman’s Guide to Ghelspad. Around this time last year, Travis spoke to me about becoming an official freelancer with OPP. His position has blossomed since then, and when he reached out, it morphed into an interview about the Scarred Lands, Pugmire, and his other work.

The 22 RPG crowdfunding projects covered in this article end between Black Friday and December 5th, 2019. This is a sizeable field (with the addition of an RPG quickstarter) end during some of the busiest shopping days in the US, and I’ll be interested to see if that event impacts their results.

Andy Peregrine Confirmed As Dune Line Manager

Modiphius’ upcoming Dune RPG will be overseen by Andy Peregrine (Doctor Who, Judge Dredd). While he already has a team of writers for the initial release, their identities are being kept under wraps for the moment, as is most other information about the game (though it’s a good bet it will be powered by Modiphius’ 2d20 system).

When You Can't Tell Who's an NPC
  • 8
Fortnite launched two new features for its battle royale game in its eleventh season, matchmaking and bots. The two features are important lessons on how players perceive status of other characters and how they can be fooled -- a lesson most game masters know is not easy to pull off in a tabletop game.
From the Freelancing Frontline – From Hobby to Career

Originally, all I wanted from my game writing was to sell enough RPG game articles to afford a subscription to Dragon Magazine. But once I had done that, I found I wanted to write more. Much more. So, I kept sending pitches to Dave Gross, at Dragon, and began looking for other venues.

Design Masterclass: 7th Sea
  • 12
Anyone who knows me will wonder why it took me so long to get round to what is probably my favorite game of all time. However, I'm sad to say that in this example I'm not going to talk about the numbers. First Edition 7th Sea had some rather basic rules problems (mainly the importance of traits). While Second Edition actually fixes many of those issues, that isn't as useful as you might think...
