*Zykovian wandered out of his class, rummaging through papers in his briefcase. His blue-black hair was tied back simply with a silver tie. A dark blue cloak was slung on one arm, his bow over the other shoulder. A comfortable cream tunic, strings unties and opened several inches down his chest. Navy pants were tucked into dark leather boots.*
*He stopped and looked at a piece of paper, looking like he was doing math in his head.*
“Hi! At least one familiar face here. Looks like we need a few other crewmembers, because the rest has not signed up yet, and we need a complete crew before we can head to the comet. I have spent some time looking for suitable candidates, but couldn't find anyone. I'll go to the officials and let them assign a crew now. So, did you think about my idea? Because it's now the chance to get someone for the position, if you don't want to do it. I'll ask for at least one able to control the ship, anyways, so this important task does not rest on the shoulders of a single person all the time. Could be a bit too tiring, I suppose.”
After hearing his answer, Melody heads off to see one of the convocation officials, as she said, and ask for assistance in gathering together a crew. Afterwards, she will visit a few more suitable seminars, unless the officials need her for something, and once the day is over, Melody heads back to the Laughing Sail Inn.
Zykovian looked up in shock, seeing Melody standing before him. He smiled warmly, happy to see someone he had stood beside, that had fought with him against the others.
"Well hello there, Melody," Zykovian replied warmly, "You're a sight for sour eyes, and looking quite spectacular as always, I would have to say."
"That was for a helmsman, right?" Zykovian clarified, "Yeah, I don't have a problem doing that, though, I wouldn't be very capable in a pinch if there were a fight. In fact, I've got a class on that, yet. another wouldn't be bad . . . I'll keep my ears open as well. On that note, I think that Lyveria . . . copper haired woman," by way of clarification, "will be traveling with us as well. Molpe is going along . . . at least right now. And I may have another one or two."
"Any leads on a fast ship?" Zykovian asked before she left.
Zykovian T’Erilan, Male Altanian Arcanist/Marksman
"Sounds interesting, Melody," Zykovian replied. "Sounds like you'll make a very capable captain . . . at least, I would think you would be the logical choice. Did you want to meet again later today . . . or just try and find each other tomorrow? I have a couple classes tomorrow as well."
*Zykovian glanced at his paper, checking the times so he could tell her if asked.*
“I don't know. These seminars are pretty tiring, and not all that informative, unfortunately. I think I'll just head to my room afterwards, but we will surely find each other tomorrow. It isn't very difficult to find you here, much easier than finding someone with suitable skills to join us, like a second helmsman, which should hopefully disperse your concerns about fighting - although you are pretty good with that bow, so you shouldn't worry too much. Speaking of which... I will go and see the officials to let them help find someone. We will need a complete crew by the end of this, and it's only few days now, so I better start finding one. I'll see you tomorrow at some point.”
Zykovian nodded in understanding. He had hoped to spend some time getting to know Melody better, but she had been through a lot the last couple days.
"Very well then, Melody," Zykovian replied. "Take care of yourself until then. Remember there are some loose ends here with this gem stuff . . . watch your back."
On the next day, Melody goes to the convocation officials, as promised, and asks for support in gathering a suitable crew, since her own effors havn't been very successful yet. There is only one other crewmember so far, or maybe two, if Lyveria was able to take up some position. Fedowin has dropped out of sight, probably gone for good, and Molpe was only a passenger. The Mojiin and Alire couldn't be counted yet, since they needed the full crew before they could meet up with them. There were the one or two others, Zykovian had mentioned, but that was vague, and they would need some extras, anyways, so Melody aims for a basic crew for now with a second helmsman to allow each of them periods of rest from steering the ship. She will tell the convocation officials about the people who will likely join up with her to make it easier for them to suggest some fitting people, if they knew any.
Don't think we've had an appearance for Fedowin before so here it is...
*Fedowin is a handsome Rowaini, tall and athletic, with wavy shoulder length raven hair. His green eyes sparkle with mischief, and a cheeky grin graces his face at most times. He wears finely woven clothing consisting of a white shirt, under a crimson vest, and slate grey trousers which are tucked into supple black leather boots, the ensemble covered by his midnight blue cloak. At his waist he wears a finely tooled black leather belt, which holds a variety of weapons and pouches. On his right hip he carries a elegant rowaini dueling cutlass with a heartstone in the hilt, on his left hip a matching blade with no stone, and several daggers on his belt. While on his back he has a fine longbow and two quivers of arrows.*
Now on with the game...
*Seeing Melody, Fedowin hurries over to meet her, taking her hand lightly in his own he bends to kiss the back of it before speaking.*
Rowaini
“Ah, fair Melody it has been too long since our last meeting, and I still haven’t found the time to listen to you sing. It saddens my heart that I have had to abstain from your lovely company for the past several days, but tasks had to be completed and languages learned. So do we have a ship to travel the stars with yet?”
And while I'm posting...
Keia
Has Fedowin payed Zykovian back yet (from the healing), as I couldn’t find it in the threads, but could easily have missed it?

Reason: added appearance
Upon seeing her fellow Rowaini, Melody smiles happily, she had thought they had lost him and after a long and rather fruitless last day, he is a welcome sight. There is not much of a reaction to the kiss on the hand, except for a dutiful smile and a little smirk, as Melody knows quite well what kind of charmeur Fedowin is.
“Fedowin! Good to see you. Yes, we will get a ship, once the convocation is over. A dragonfly class most likely. It's a small ship, but it should do. What we really need now is a complete crew, because Abdiel and Mhrazhar won't count yet. I'm on the way to the officials, asking for help, since I couldn't find any suitable crewmembers yet. We also thought you were gone, but if you are still in, that's one person less to worry about. What's up with Belle? Wasn't she with you?”
[Melody's Convocation Dress]
Spoiler:
Melody is dressed in translucent white silk with only an ivory-colored brassière underneath a tight-fitting, long-sleaved blouse, which leaves a small portion of her slim waist bare, about two to three inches wide, and then a daringly short skirt of matching ivory color with a loose-fitting, long skirt of the same translucent silk-cloth on top, that has a full-length slit along her right leg. Her feet are fitted in simple, but elegant black leather sandals, and wrapped loosely around her hips is a broad, white leather belt with a large silver buckle modeled into an angel with spread wings. As usual, she does not wear any make-up (she never does) and only very little jewelry, mostly a necklace with a pretty stone attached to it, preferring to play up her natural beauty instead of drowning it in accessories. Her waist-long, dark hair cascades freely over her shoulders in slight waves and her green eyes sparkle with expectation.
Fedowin grins at Melody’s welcome, and continues to smile until she asks about Belle...when his smile fades to a look of concern. With a sigh he answers, “Bellangere was arrested by the guard along with the feldori H'rrasa, when Zykovian handed over the jewel. I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to discover a way to rescue them from the prison, which is why I haven’t been around much, except to slip in, attend classes, and slip out again, but as yet I have nothing...”
“Oh, that's unfortunate. I had hoped that she might want to accompany us as well, but trying to get her out of jail does not sound like a bright idea. What is she accused of? Much of that what happened wasn't her fault, but I guess that there is enough to keep her in nonetheless.”
“Belle was arrested for being a member of the Rosethorne’s. Though not knowing when she joined with Alire, and not having that source to ask at the moment, I can’t say whether she’s responsible for anything more than what they were duped into doing here...not that I’d hold anything against her about her past,” Fedowin replies with a roguish smile, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
OOC
A refresher. Alire or Erila (don’t ask me which as I’ve only glanced through that section yet) was talking with the group about rescuing Bellangere and H’rrasa in posts #1309 onwards in the Prelude thread, while discussing who was going after the Crazan Arris and who was staying at the Convocation.
“Well, all that doesn't get us closer to our ship, however. I guess I better head to the officials and ask them for some support in getting the basic crew together.”
“Yes, well I suppose I should check when my next class is on, before I’m late again. I will bid you goodbye for now sweet Melody, and hope it is not so long until out next meeting,” Fedowin declares, his telltale grin returning and his eyes flashing with humour, as he makes a polite bow. He then heads for the desk to check on his next class, a rakish spring in his step.
*Melody heads off to the registrar, who is sitting in his office with a red-haired woman with the delicate features of the Amaranthian Sidhe.*
"Ah, Melody, yes? We have another eager early applicant here that might make a fine member of your crew. Her name is Priya, but I shall let her introduce herself more formally."
Priya smiles and starts to bow before she catches herself and offers Melody a hand. She blushes slightly, though somehow makes the entire motion seem elegent.
"Hello, Melody," she says in a soft voice, in Eldish, "it's good to meet you."
A small lizard like head pokes out from behind her cloak and looks around, but Priya does not seem to notice. As she speaks, her voice gets a little bit louder and she begins to speek faster "I've heard you're looking for a crew for a spelljammer ship. I must say that I've not got much experience on a ship but I'm eager to learn. I just find the idea so fascinating of moving between the spheres so fascinating and would love to learn how to use a helm. Oh and the Phagiston seems just so interesting, I have so many ideas of things to do with it."
Priya's eyes roll back slightly as she takes a deep breath as if to list them all, but she pauses, and looks back at Melody. "Oh, I'm sorry, i got carried away. But I am realy good at working with magic things and tinkering, and I've been researching the spheres for a few years. I'm sure I could be a good member of your crew."
Priya takes another deep breath, and finaly slows down and returns to what seems to be her normal voice. "I'm sorry, I'm a bit excited to be here and all."
Priya is dressed in a simple emerald green dress, with a burgandy cloak, her hair up in her circlet, and addorned with several other pieces of jewelry. She holds a quarterstaff as a walking stick with a pouch closed over the top of it.
“Greetings! It's my pleasure. And thanks for your efforts, master registrar.” Offering a smile, the dark-haired Rowaini waits until Priya has finished with her excited talking, before she continues. “Yes, I'm looking to form a crew, you certainly already know about the convocation's offer which is the reason why, otherwise you wouldn't be here, and as a matter of fact, we could need another person capable of mounting the helm. I wouldn't be too worried about lack of experience, that's why most of us are here, to learn and practice the necessary skills. We will have plenty of time to practice them, once we get on the way. And if you have already studied the spheres, you probably have a better start than many others that attend the convocation. If the registrar thinks you would make a fine addition to my crew, I'll gladly accept his judgement and welcome you aboard. Not that we have the ship yet, but you know what I mean.”
With a big smile, Melody then stands up and extends a hand towards Priya, saying: “While we all are not the most experienced out there, we will certainly have the best-looking crew in the whole Wildspace. Be welcome!”
Priya shakes Melody's had happily with a bright smile. "Oh, thank you, I'm SO looking forward to this."
Priya claps her hands and bounces for a moment in excitement. The lizard head makes an irritated screaching sound as she bounces. "Oh, sorry," she says, looking down at it and scratching it's head, which seems to satiate it.
She turns to address Melody again, "Melody, this is Galeru. I hope it's not a problem if she comes with me too. She's well behaved," she turns to Galery, "yes you are." Back to Melody again, "and she eats pretty much anything I would, and since I don't eat much, it shouldn't be a burdon."
Melody giggles. “Oh, I certainly hope we will have enough food for such a long journey. Good, with yourself - not counting Galeru - we have four crewmembers now, maybe five. There are two or so more who might join us later, after the convocation, since they are not in Eldiz right now, so we probably won't have an all too tight schedule for anyone in the end.”
“Do you think that will suffice, master registrar?”
Rystil:
Spoiler:
Do you have that link to the spelljamming ships handy somewhere? Don't seem to have saved it...
Confirming his next class is still several hours away, Fedowin heads for Zykovian’s flat, in a hurry to pay off his debt now that he has the funds. Knocking at the door when he reaches Zykovian’s abode, Fedowin waits patiently, trimming his nails with a dagger.
“Yes, of course they won't give us huge ships here. The ship we will most likely get is a Dragonfly class, which is - as you rightly say - a pretty small ship, but for our purposes it should be more than enough.”
"That should probably be just about right for a Dragonfly, unless you bring on a ballista or something that would need additional crew. Or, at least, it is about enough for a barebones crew anyway."
“Well, anything that interests you, most of the seminars might come in useful for us eventually. Of course, anything on the specifics of the helm and navigating the ship would be of particular interest, especially if you havn't got much experience yet.”
A few minutes and some knocking later, Fedowin decides Zykovian isn’t home. Having found exactly where they’re holding Bellangere during the last couple of days, when he was avoiding Zykovian, he decides to go and see if he’ll be allowed to visit her.
“Alright. I will head to my seminars for today then. I'm sure we will run into each other a few times on the compound, anyways. If you need to get hold of me, I have my room in the Laughing Sail Inn, just leave a message with the innkeeper, if you won't find me there. Have a nice day then, and see you later. I'm really looking forward to when our journey is finally starting.”
Afterwards Melody heads off to attend some more seminars.
*It is easy for Fedowin to determine that they are holding Bellangere at the prison at the city guard headquarters.*
OOC: Yes, I realised that, that’s why I posted that he’d found where she was over the last couple of days...just to fill in a bit of missing time (as he’d already said he was looking into Bellangere’s situation to Melody).
Edit: Guess we should talk about this some more before we go ahead, so I've sent an email.
