Anton pulls another arrow, waiting for the dragon to come back into sight.
OOC: Readied action to attack the dragon

I would have preferred that Tandi used her AoO to continue to attempt to grapple, but that's cool.
Seeing that the dragon is now out of reach, Tandi moves to search
through the rest of the cave, hoping against hope that they can find
the girl. Or at least her body.

*Tandi
moves sixty more feet, past the centre of the room. She sees some bones
in a neat pile on the side of the room, though she doesn't know enough
about bones to identify them that well. She hears the sounds of
flapping wings above and just out of sight of her Darkvision.*
*Anton, Krug, and Cade ready ranged weapons in case the dragon flies back.*
*Thurgan moves after Tandi, but he isn't as fast, so he ends up merely making it to where Rillian is standing right now.*
*Scun climbs down a bit more.*
OOC
Tandi moves.
Anton readies.
Krug readies too.
So does Cade.
Thurgan moves.
Scun climbs down another 15 feet.
Rillian's turn.

Rillian
moves out toward the flapping sounds, 1 move action, drawing a javelin
while moving (hold his sword with one hand). He will end up about 30
feet to the right (or left) or Tandi. If he has any idea at all where
the dragon might be, he will throw the javelin (even if he wont hit,
just to keep the dragon nervous), and call out "There he is!"

Only thing worse than a Welchin' Wizard is a trollkin.
Some of you might be thinking "A trollkin!?!", but if you imagine a
trollkin vampire Runelord of Vivamort, you'll know where I'm coming
from.
*Rillian
moves forty feet towards Tandi, drawing his javelin and tossing it into
the darkness in the general direction of the dragon, hearing it hit the
ground without impacting the dragon at all.*
*Then all but Scun, Anton, and Krug see the dragon flying back towards
them, apparently having turned around. Cade, who has prepared for just
such an eventuality, fires a slingstone, but it deflects off the
dragon's scales.*
"Fah, you work for the lord then?" the dragon replies to Cade, "You
shall not have that which you seek, so flee if you wish to be sure of
your life, intruder. I shall not pull any punches, and my mighty power
may well destroy you mere mortals in an instant. So run away like the
cowards you lordsmen are."
*The dragon mumbles arcane words as it flies to about twenty feet above
the ground and ten feet beyond Tandi, firing its breath weapon at the
spot between Tandi and Rillian, which easily spreads and hits them both
at that trajectory. Tandi tumbles deftly out of the way of the blast,
but Rillian takes the full brunt and is surprised to be blasted by an
arctic chill rather than a burning fury. Nonetheless, he is barely able
to keep conscious after that.*
OOC
Rillian's attack went to the wrong square--I'd've just delayed or
readied, myself. He is actually 20 feet behind Tandi because he has
barbarian fast movement.
Cade's Sling 4 + 7 = 11, Miss.
Tandi's Reflex Save 14 + 6 = 20, Save for 0 damage.
Rillian's Reflex Save 10 + 5 = 15, Fail for 25 Damage. He is now at 1.
Now is probably a good time to tell you guys that I reserve the right
to give monsters weird special abilities from non-SRD sources (such as
the Draconomicon), as I originally asked in the general discussion
thread a long time ago
Everyone can see the dragon except Anton, Krug, and Scun.
Tandi,
after nimbly dodging the dragon's breath, sees that her friend wasn't
so lucky. She makes a mad dash to get Rillian out of the way of another
blast.
Tandi is going to move as fast as she can to Rillian
and pull him out of the way as far as she can. I know he still has a
hit point left, but still....
Thurgan
almost snarled at the dragon after it made it's lofty speech. He would
sort out the words after the corpse lay on the ground. Thurgan felt the
drop in temperature, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
OOC: Charge with Dwarven waraxe two handed, or fire crossbow if out of charging range.
ooc:
Is the room kind of bowl-shaped, thus allowing me to move around the
edge, or am I on the only raised bit? Either way, I'll wait one more
round.
(OOC: You're on the only raised bit. Best to think of the room as
roughly a hemispherical dome with some tunnel openings in the side of
the dome. You're in one of those openings.
Edit: Oh, that brings us to Cade then, as Krug will follow Anton's lead.)
OOC:
I was ready to sling it if needed. Not sure i can use it inside the
sling stone without preping it. I thought the dragon was within 20 ft?
(OOC: the dragon was roughly 10 feet in front of Tandi (who is herself
about 60 feet in front of Cade) and 20 feet up. I let you sling it
inside the stone because I assumed that if Cade took one, he would have
gotten it prepared correctly (Anton got them prepared with the arrows,
for instance) )
(OOC Oops! I forgot that Cade's delay, unlike the others, actually did trigger, causing him to not go yet It is therefore Thurgan's turn followed by Scun and the action in the SBLOCK will go after the dragon, if still applicable. )
Cade On Delay
OOC
Okay, but you already used your Liquid Air stone last round. Did you
have one of those and one of Acid? I'll assume yes since you said you
want to do it again.
Ahh, you did take that one then. I wasn't sure I had used the wind
thingie first, since you didn't specify anything different. Sure, I'll
go acid (It's a red dragon, right?)
Ahh,

Okey dokey, works for me too. And yes, as per here.
*Thurgan fires his crossbow and manages to miss the dragon completely.*
*Meanwhile, Scun is fed up with climbing the rope, so he tries to rush
his climb to get down right now. At first, he makes rapid progress, but
then he slips and loses his movement, so he shrugs and jumps the rest
of the way, landing on his feet without taking damage.*
*The dragon looks around at the scene and says to Rillian:*
"You know...I don't much relish getting into range of that big sword of
yours again to make a claw attack, so I think I'll just fly off for
now. Time is on my side, since my breath weapon shall return and your
bloodlust shall wane. If you wish to live, I suggest you head down the
chute in the southern wall, for otherwise you shall surely perish."
*With that, the dragon flies off into the upper darkness.*
OOC
Thurgan's Crossbow 2 + 5 = 7, Miss.
Scun takes a chance (for the heck of it, since it is 50/50) and tries to rush the climb
Scun's Climb 19 - 1 = 18, Success, 10 feet.
Scun's Climb 7 - 1 = 6, Fail, no progress.
Scun Jumps down the last 10 feet.
Scun's Jump 19 - 1 = 18, Success, no damage.
Dragon flies off into the darkness.
Cade and Rillian's Turn--sorry Cade, no 7 Damage Sling attack, though I'll let you do that next time if you ready an action
ooc:
I'm guessing my elevation doesn't help me see the dragon. With a rapid
shot, would it be possible to use the first shot with an alchemist's
fire arrow at the ceiling (or someplace where I can roughly guess the
dragon is), and to use that illumination to fire the second shot at the
dragon?
Alternately, would it be feasible to use a Listen check to pinpoint the dragon and shoot him?
(OOC: Light, you say Oooh, go ahead and make light and you'll see the side effect that makes them called 'Night Drops'
Actually, I'll just tell you--perhaps Maurice included a warning. If
you flash a light while Nightdrops are in effect, it will not only end
the Darkvision for everyone that is exposed to the light, but also
blind them for a few seconds )
ooc: Alchemist's Fires can't make that much light, can they? Phooey. Well, note my "alternately."
(OOC: I hadn't thought that it would be that bright either--but if it
is bright enough to see, it is bright enough to screw up the Nightdrops
(I hadn't realised it was bright enough to see).
You can definitely do the alternate thing though. The dragon is very loud with the wing-flapping. Wanna do that next turn?)
ooc:
Ok, I just realized what was bothering me...you skipped Rillian's turn.
The dragon flew up and used its breath weapon on one action, and then
talked and flew away on the next, both since the last time Rillian
acted. I had been waiting for everyone else's actions before I stated
Rillian's. Is it too late?
(OOC:
D'oh--I had thought he readied the javelin rather than just threw it
randomly into the darkness. That is correct then, he should have gone
earlier and not on Cade's turn. If he'd like a potshot at the dragon
with a javelin, he can take it.)
ooc:
Actually, he would like a potshot with the Liquid Air vial, if its
feasable (i'll take a range penalty of -2 if necessary). If not, then
use the javelin.
