Thurgan
smiled at the comments by Anton, though it likely looked like a grimace
under the beard and mustache. Hefting his gear and making certain his
weapons were close at hand, Thuegan made ready to take the girl back to
her father.
"Good
lets get moving." Rillian steps up next to Thurgan, one hand idle
scratching his shoulder (no where near his greatsword, nope not a
chance).

Some of you might be thinking "A trollkin!?!", but if you imagine a
trollkin vampire Runelord of Vivamort, you'll know where I'm coming
from.
*Larue arches an eyebrow and looks to the hands moving to the weapons, then shakes his head.*
"I see, so that's how it is. How disappointing
that you will not be able to join us. Well then, I shall leave my
Sykhia in your most capable hands. Please see that she comes to no
harm, my friends," he nods slightly to his men, and they walk off out of the cave.
Tandi simply nods. Anton's argument makes sense and she has nothing to say further, so she continues on her way as well.

"You did?"
"Almost. Sixth grade counts, don't it, Kaylee?"
"Sure it does, Jayne."

ooc:
I thought Cade was waiting for "Once everyone is ready to move on..."
to "[mount] up on Alton and [ride] back to the town..."
By the way, as we travel back, I'm going to be looking for anyone following us.

*The
group travels back towards town, walking through the darkening foggy
evening with Sykhia carried unconscious among them. Anton cannot make
out anyone following them.*
*Eventually, they reach the town again, where they return to the inn.
They cannot find Maurice there, however. A skinny man that they don't
recognise is behind the counter.*
"Oh, how wonderful, you really saved her!" the unknown man greets them
on their entrance, "I'm Tom, and I'm watching after the inn while
Maurice is away."
"Oh,
he's not going to be back for a while. He's left for Lord Larue's
manor. Apparently the lord had urgent need of his alchemical skills.
That Maurice, he always did dream that he would one day become a court
alchemist, and perhaps now he'll get his chance."
Thurgan ran his hand through his beard, "Why is it now that he'da get 'is chance?"
This entire situation was completely confused to Thurgan, who was
beginning to suspect they should just drop the girl along side the
track and continue on their way.
The
whole thing smelled of fish, and not the kind that was grilled on a
cookfire. Tandi listened to the men banter as she looked around the
room, to see if anything was in disarray or different from when they
had left.
*Tandi
notices that some of the alchemy equipment is gone, an amount that
looks like it could be reasonably carried, since the whole laboratory
of equipment is far too cumbersome to do so.*
(OOC: Scun doesn't have that spell prepped at the moment to the best of my knowledge)
In an aside, Anton mentions, "Well,
I do not want to go to the mansion. I am fine with leaving the girl
here and leaving, or waiting for the father to return." Anton looks around, "If this girl kills herself before the father returns, that is not our issue. We brought the girl back."
'I
suggest we rest, and restrain the girl. Watches may be in order. Then
in the morning, when Scun has prepared appropriate detection spells, we
can examine her and decide what to do."
Pulling Rillian aside (out of earshot of any npcs), Scun says to him, "The
spell won't tell me much. I'm sure she has magic on her by now, but it
could have been put there by the caster who 'detected' before. We
should make our decision based on instinct. Let us avoid this whole
situation. Everywhere, people seek to manipulate us and I'm getting
tired of it."
"I
don't know what else to do, but leaving the girl just don't seem right.
Nothing's right about this, the dragon, the girl, the lord, the father.
Just seems staged." Cade says.
Anton nods, "Yes,
maybe waiting until morning is wise. It is possible that any remaining
magic will have worn off, and also it might be possible to get some
information on any magic still in place. If we had a way to erase the
magic that would be better, but I do not think we have the resources to
do that. In any case, the faster we can get out of here and move on,
the better."
