Cats kept by elves have evolved into magical creatures, possibly aided by arcane means. They are very intelligent and have their own language, and many can speak a crude form of the elven tongue. Some live with gnomes, brownies, or woodland creatures, and also speak a basic form of their keepers' language. Most have gray-brown fur with dark stripes.

Elven cats are very stealthy. They are excellent climbers, and enjoy swimming and playing in water.

Skills: Elven cats receive a +4 racial bonus to Hide checks, a +8 racial bonus to Balance checks, and a +10 racial bonus to Spot and Move Silently checks. They use their Dexterity modifier for Climb,Jump and Swim checks. *In areas of tall grass or heavy undergrowth, the Hide bonus rises to +10.

Elven cats have magical abilities that they use to avoid enemies.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will - Detect Thoughts (which is used to determine intent); 1/day - Enlarge; 2/day Reduce and Tree Shape (often taking the form of a tree limb).
These abilities are as the spells cast by a 9th-level wizard (save DC 10 + spell level), except Tree Shape, which is as the spell cast by a 9th-level druid.
