The Ruined Clouds
Starfinder Adventure Path #4: Dead Suns #4 of 6
By Paizo

Dark Clouds Gather

Still on the heels of the Devourer cult, the heroes head to a distant, uncharted star system, where they find the ruins of an ancient alien city floating in the atmosphere of a gas giant. Exploring the ruins, they encounter the degenerate descendants of a highly advanced species that once controlled the lost superweapon the heroes are searching for. Through the legends and superstitions of these primitive folk, the heroes can piece together clues to the superweapon's hidden location and the key to unlocking its power—an impossibly huge megastructure that the Cult of the Devourer is intent on seizing!

This volume of Starfinder Adventure Path continues the Dead Suns Adventure Path and includes:
· "The Ruined Clouds," a Starfinder adventure for 7th-level characters, by Jason Keeley.
· Details about the Drift, the mysterious plane of existence revealed by the god Triune that allows faster-than-light travel, including information about notable locations such as the holy city of Alluvion and the dangerous doldrums, by Joe Pasini.
· A gazetteer of Istamak, the floating city of Nejeor VI where the descendants of a once-powerful star empire struggle to survive in the ruins of their ancestors' civilization, by Jason Keeley.
· An archive of new creatures, from living holograms and twisted mutants to supernatural agents of the Devourer, by Jason Keeley and Owen K.C. Stephens.
· Statistics and deck plans for a new starship from the secretive Azlanti Star Empire, plus an overview of the gas giant Nejeor VI in the Codex of Worlds, by Jason Keeley.

Inner Sea Taverns
Pathfinder Campaign Setting
By Paizo

Your Adventure Starts Here!

Whether they're seedy bars in a city's roughest district, upscale joints where society's elites hobnob over artisan wines, or sleepy boozing establishments in pass-through villages, taverns are a staple of every adventurer's career. They're a place to meet contacts, to collect the juiciest gossip, or simply to knock back a hearty ale in between monster-slaying sessions.

Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Taverns presents six ready-made, fully fleshed-out taverns for use in games that take place across Golarion. Each entry includes a full-page map of the establishment, stat blocks for both a commonly met tavern proprietor or bartender and a powerful local who might serve as a foe or an ally, a full history and description of the tavern's clientele, and a detailed gazetteer of the tavern's grounds. A selection of rules for bar fighting and pub games rounds out this invaluable tome.

This book contains details about the following taverns, and more:
· Aeylinth Vineyard, a sophisticated treetop wine bar in the bustling city of Greengold, a prominent port of call in the elven nation of Kyonin.
· Formidably Maid, a rough-and-tumble pirate bar located on the dockside outskirts of Port Peril, the capital of the privateer-infested archipelago known as the Shackles.
· Runoff, an underground speakeasy in Starfall, where the drinks are spiked with mysterious fluids and the resistance against the Technic League is strong.
· Whispering Stone, a partially open-air gambling hall and lounge in Osirion's Wati famous for the ancient, mostly buried statue that serves as its centerpiece.

Heroic Fantasy Handbook
D20 Supplement
By Autarch

The Heroic Fantasy Handbook is a rules supplement that brings the flavor of heroic fantasy to your favorite role-playing game. Cleaving away decades worth of assumptions and expectations about how characters heal, fight, and adventure, how magic works, what spells do, and more, the Heroic Fantasy Handbook offers a fresh way to play with familiar D20 fantasy mechanics. In the Heroic Fantasy Handbook you get:

  • [*=center]A set of 16 new character classes inspired by the archetypes of heroic fantasy. Defend civilization from the predations of Chaos as a Nobiran champion. Master the power of ancient runes and learn the wisdom of the ages as a runecaster. Unleash your charismatic ferocity as an alluring but deadly warmistress. Plumb magic so dark that no mere human could survive it as a Zaharan sorcerer. Forge your destiny as the Chosen.
[*=center]An entirely new magic system, eldritch magic, designed to capture the flavor of heroic fantasy. Subtle but powerful, eldritch magic brings a new arsenal of effects into your game. Low-level eldritch casters can infuriate their foes, summon minor demons from the Outer Darkness, or call wolves from the forest. High-level eldritch wizards can call giant eagles from distant mountain lairs, lead foes into madness through corrupting dreams, or unleash the hounds of hell to hunt down their enemies. But eldritch magic carries risks, not the least of which is corruption and madness from the black arts.
[*=center]A new way of creating magical effects, ceremonial magic, for worlds where not every magic-user casts spells in a round. With ceremonial magic, characters can perform lengthy ceremonies from a variety of traditions ranging from the chthonic to the liturgical to the shamanic. Using traditional implements, trinkets, and talismans, the ceremonialist can work miracles – or suffer the terrible consequences of failure
[*=center]A new way of casting spells, spellsinging, that allows characters to spontaneously weave together new spells on the fly. Use spellsinging to represent the fluid arts of the elves, the psionic powers of a dying race, or the weaving of words of power by island wizards.
[*=center]Over 155 new spells designed for use by eldritch casters, ceremonialists, and spellsingers. Forget comic-book teleportation and fireballs. If you walk the dark path, be ready to madden your foes with dark whisper, torture them body and soul with iron maiden or even yank out their bones and animate their flensed skeleton as your minions with fillet and serve. If you crave elemental power, get ready to transform rain into acid with rain of vitriol, raze your enemy’s walls with sunder structure, or even call down a starfall from the heavenly firmament.
[*=center]A set of new rules for heroic adventuring, including fate points, heroic funerals, warrior codes, critical hit tables, new special maneuvers, updates to the mechanics for thief skills…
    [*=center]And much, much more!

The Heroic Fantasy Handbook is designed for use with the Adventurer Conqueror King System™ (ACKS™) but is readily compatible with other fantasy role-playing games built on the same core rules.

Manhunters: Bounty Hunters in Clement Sector
Traveller Supplement
By Gypsy Knights Games

Bring ‘em back alive!

With the many independent governments of Clement Sector, it is necessary to have a method to capture criminals who take advantage of the lack of a ruling interstellar polity and go on the run from justice. For most governments in Clement Sector, the answer is the manhunter.

Manhunters include those who have dedicated their lives to tracking down criminals on the run, average ship crews who see an opportunity in being the person to bring in a wanted criminal for a bounty, bail enforcement agents and marshals who work for a single government or corporation, thieftakers that work for aggrieved families in finding justice, repossession agents who recover stolen property and capture ships from captains who are behind on their payments, altrant and uplift hunters who operate on the fringe of society capturing those who have escaped their "owners" and made it to freedom, and the skiptracers whose research and dedication can aid all of the above.

Manhunters: Bounty Hunters in Clement Sector covers all of these and delves deeply into the laws, regulations and traditions of manhunters in the Clement Sector setting. This book includes eight career tracks as well to allow characters to delve into the world of justice and recovery.

While specifically geared for the Clement Sector setting, the information, corporations, characters, and careers contained within could easily be used with any other Cepheus Engine or 2d6 SF setting.

So get this book and get out there and catch some criminals and bring them back alive (or not)!

Zaibatsu
Core Rulebook
By Zozer Games

Zaibatsu is a cyberpunk roleplaying game based on the Cepheus Engine and other Classic 2D6 SF RPGs.

As the street soldiers of the world’s most powerful corporations (the Japanese zaibatsu) you become expendable and deniable employees fighting for profits, power and your lives. You’ve been recruited from the dark and murky Japanese underworld to carry out illegal terrorist activities on behalf of that employer and have one foot in the stylish corporate-minded boardrooms of the zaibatsu, and one foot in the filth and squalor of the criminal underworld.

Hired by duty-bound executives who must at all times remain respectable, the player characters are modern street samurai, urban warriors doing the disreputable things that no corporate executive could ever admit to. All set in a William Gibson-inspired futureworld: Tokyo gone global. Tokyo. The world’s capital, largest, most high-tech, most happening city on Earth.

Zaibatsu is a return to the early days of cyberpunk, when William Gibson’s Neuromancer was new and fresh, and when Japan looked to become the centre of a new, high-tech dystopian future. Altered Carbon, Bladerunner 2049 … cyberpunk is not going away...

In this game you will find:

  • [*=center]Quick creation character generation, based on 16 Concepts.
[*=center]Fast-play combat rules for intense, explosive firefights in an urban environment.
[*=center]Advice on creating the perfect cyberpunk story.
[*=center]Lots of technology – but as the early cyberpunks predicted it; no wi-fi and no cellphones.
[*=center]Retrogenics – not cybernetics. The biotech corps have perfected retroactive DNA modification.
[*=center]Innovative cyberspace hacking rules use a real deck - of playing cards - for super-fast computer system penetration. A breeze to use and available to any player character.
[*=center]Total immersion into 23rd century Tokyo. What to eat, where to shop, how to swear… it’s all here.
[*=center]Maps and plans and plenty of them.
    [*=center]6 fully-detailed missions, forming a story arc.
[*=center]Fast character progression in rank, skills, money and status through the earning of promotion points.
[*=center]Zaibatsu sits within Zozer Games’ HOSTILE setting and is compatible with that book (please note that part of the Technology chapter has been duplicated from HOSTILE).

The island gained a fearsome reputation and only the bravest would dare set foot upon its forested grounds.

Yesterday strange lights were seen in the sky over the island and Ynyswel started smoking. The villagers can wait no longer. Brave adventurers must be found who are willing to investigate the Isle of Merehurst to either appease or oppose what lies behind the latest mysterious activities.

Korean Pennisula Sourcebook
Twilight: 2000 Supplement
By Games Design Workshop

From the mysterious Hermit Kingdom in the north, to the marvelous Land of the Morning Calm in the south, the Korean Peninsula Campaign Sourcebook is your guide to an exciting new setting for the Twilight: 2000 role-playing game. Korea's story is only hinted at in previous Twilight: 2000 publications. The Korean Peninsula Campaign Sourcebook picks up where those hints left off, building on them to craft a rich, novel environment for role-playing adventure in the aftermath of World War III.

The Korean Peninsula Campaign Sourcebook is not a single adventure module, but rather a toolbox containing an abundance of material designed to help referees create an exciting campaign sandbox of potential adventures set in and around the Korean Peninsula. In this volume, referees and players will discover:

  • [*=center]A brief history of WWIII in Korea.
[*=center]Overviews of Korean geography and culture.
[*=center]Orders of battle for the region's major combatants, including U.S. 8th Army, Soviet Yalu Front, the Republic of Korea Army and Marine Corps, and the [North] Korean People's Army.
[*=center]Options for creating South Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Australian, New Zealand, Gurkha, North Korean, Bulgarian, and Hungarian characters.
[*=center]Brief descriptions of the activities of regional intelligence agencies.
    [*=center]Brief biographies of major personalities.
    [*=center]Mission options and adventure seeds, including a horror-tinged mini-module.
[*=center]A gazetteer providing brief descriptions of dozens of places of interest in the region.
[*=center]Descriptions and specifications of weapons and equipment fielded by the South Korean, North Korean, and Japanese militaries, most never before detailed in official Twilight: 2000 publications.

The world of the Twilight 2000 Korea Sourcebook is built around the events of the timeline presented by the first iteration of Twilight 2000 (Version 1)- a divided Korea and extant, still-powerful Soviet Union- but is fully compatible with the Version 2.2 rules set. Referees should feel free to modify the setting to suit their own sensibilities.

Darkest Night (Second Edition)
1-4players, ages 13+, 150+ minutes
By Victory Point Games

Darkest Night, by designer Jeremy Lennert, is a fully-cooperative board game for up to four players, set in a kingdom broken under a Necromancer's shadow. Each player takes on the role of one of the kingdom's last heroes, each with a unique set of special abilities, just as they hatch a plan to save the realm.

Searching the kingdom provides new powers and equipment to strengthen you and your party, as well as the keys that can unlock the holy relics and defeat the Necromancer. You can acquire many powerful abilities—unique to each hero—that can help to fight the undead, elude the Necromancer's forces, accelerate your searches for items and artifacts, and more. The knight is a brave and powerful warrior; the prince can rally and inspire the people; the scholar excels at locating and restoring the treasures of the past.

But ravenous undead roam the realm, and as the Necromancer continues to build his power base, he blights the land and his army steadily grows. As the game wears on, the Necromancer becomes more and more powerful, creating blights more quickly and effectively. If an area becomes too blighted, it gets overrun—and the monastery receives the spillover. And if the monastery is ever overrun, the Necromancer wins and the kingdom is swallowed in darkness!

Before the monastery falls, it's up to you and your party to defeat the Necromancer in one of two ways: If you can gather three holy relics and bring them all back to the monastery, you can perform a powerful ritual to break the Necromancer's power and scour the land of the undead. Alternatively, you can try to defeat the Necromancer in direct combat—but be warned, he will readily sacrifice his minions to save himself.

Can you save the kingdom from darkness? Do you have the courage, the cunning, and the will to withstand the Necromancer and his forces? Strategize, plan and bring out the best of your abilities to end our Darkest Night!

Replicators
Space Empires Expansion
By GMT Games

Space Empires: Replicators, the second expansion in the Space Empires series, adds a number of features to the base game, starting with the Replicators. Von-Neumann Machines ("Replicators") are self-replicating machines that behave, research, and reproduce differently from other empires, while having their own Empire Advantages. Replicators can be used by a fifth player, as an opponent in co-op games, or as a teaching empire for new players as the Replicator player doesn't have to fill out a production sheet or track the technology on his ships.

Space Empires: Replicators also includes hex-sized terrain tiles for planets, asteroids, nebulae, and other permanent terrain effects. When an exploration marker reveals a terrain effect that stays on the map, the exploration marker is removed and replaced by a tile, giving the map a nice visual effect. (By removing the exploration marker, this also creates more room in the hexes because now the entire hex is the terrain.) For epic games, the backs of some of these tiles can be used to connect two Space Empires Boards.

Each player sees the clues — person + location + weapon — for the other players but not their own. They investigate by asking questions, by consulting the secret informant, and by making accusations in order to collect clues and rule out suspects. The goal of the game is to identify which of the 13 clues match their case before the others do!

Tabletop Gaming Manuel
Guide to Boardgames
By Haynes

A history of board games, ancient and modern

Tabletop gaming is enjoying a huge renaissance. Sales of hobby board games have risen in double digits yearly for the past decade, with more people enjoying the physical, non-digital aspects of playing, along with the social interaction. It's one of the biggest sectors in crowd-funding platform Kickstarter.

Media interest has also increased proportionally, with celebrity endorsements such as Wil Wheaton's Tabletop show (1.5 million subscribers) and international newspapers, such as The Guardian, now hosting regular board game content. Board Game cafes are also springing up across Britain and America, a phenomenon that's attracting its own flurry of media attention.

The Tabletop Gaming Manual covers all aspects of games, from popular and traditional through to role playing and miniatures. It includes specific and specialist information for each area, appealing to the enthusiast market and serious gamer, but also to the curious beginner.

Author: Matt Thrower has been writing professionally since 2012, blogging since 2006 and playing tabletop games since he could talk. His blog, fortressat.com, has a niche audience but has also been cited as a starting point by several of today's foremost tabletop writers, including the minds behind Shut Up & Sit Down. His work on the subject has appeared in numerous print and online articles including The Guardian, PC Gamer, GamesRadar and Mac Life.
