Nylanfs, it could also be that someone you quoted (or merely up-chain?) to your comment has blocked you after you posted, so you can no longer see your own comment.

  • 05:32 PM - Abstruse quoted Nylanfs in post News Digest: Shadowrun Sixth Edition, Origins Award Nominees, BESM New Edition Amid Controversy, Alien RPG, and more!
Smiteworks just launched their Kickstarter campaign to do the final push for the Fantasy Grounds Unity re-write. Funded in 39 minutes. I tend to catch things in their last week or so as a sort of safety net for projects that have funded or look like they're close to funding so people don't forget. It's a News Digest column after all and most of the stories I write about have already been reported on EN World. I apologize if it seems rude, but it just bugs me when people comment on my column (which only focuses on 2-3 Kickstarters a week and ones that are in their last week or so) as if I didn't know about big projects like Fantasy Grounds or Critical Role or whatever huge project is out there. Also, my contact information is everywhere if you feel I've forgotten or overlooked some project that's live so there's no need to spam the comments on my columns. In all honesty, all it does is annoy me and, since I have limited space for all of the projects going on, makes it less likely I'll pick wh...

  • 03:19 PM - Egg Embry quoted Nylanfs in post D&D Endless Quests… in Target, B&N, Amazon, and More!
And as a tie in this tweet is an interesting off-shoot of these books. 102850 That is interesting! Go, Matt! :-) Matt also confirmed that he's "writing a couple more Endless Quest books". Something I'm glad to read. :-) Thanks, Egg Embry, Wanna-lancer If you're a publisher that would like to share an RPG-related job opportunity in a future article, please contact me here.

  • 02:43 PM - Perry Chalmers quoted Nylanfs in post Fantasy Grounds Toolset Usage Report
No, AFAIK all the games that Doug reports on are from the GM client pinging the FG license server, so those are all active games, planning sessions or simply playing around. None of them would be non-active campaign. I remember this being discussed somewhere in one of the earlier posts. IIRC, it actually only counts session where players connect via the server alias, but doesn't when players connect via the GM's direct IP, it also doesn't count GM prep.

  • 04:21 PM - Dausuul quoted Nylanfs in post Add A Colossal $250 Sailing Ship To Your D&D Minis Collection!
Here, save yourself some money. Edit: Here's a video of it at our game sat. Ooh, that is a sweet ship. Half the price, you can see into the lower decks without disassembling, and we don't have to wait for months. It's a long-standing tradition in my group that no matter what the campaign, the party always ends up on a boat eventually (at which point we have to play the obvious song). You should ask the maker if they offer referral bonuses, because you just got them another sale. :)

  • 09:16 PM - Shasarak quoted Nylanfs in post Harassment Policies: New Allegations Show More Work To Be Done
You mean facts? Other than some of B, stating verifiable facts of actions can not be harassment. You mean the facts that if you look white then you are not a 'real' minority? I am not clear on which harassment here has you upset? You can check the Origins Game Fair news thread to get the full story but the short form is that a bunch of activists kicked up a :):):):) storm of false accusations that resulted in the exclusion of minority author Larry Correia from being a Guest of Honor at the show.

  • 09:02 PM - Dire Bare quoted Nylanfs in post When Fantasy Meets Africa
Wolfgang and Ben did what feels like a good representation in Southlands by Kobold Press. I attended a panel at GenCon where he talked about it and he had been doing quite a bit of research into African lore and history for another game system that they ended up deciding that it wouldn't be a good fit for. While I'm aware of their existence, I'm not terribly familiar with Nyambe or the Southlands. I've heard good things about both, that both have attempted to represent African-based fantasy fairly . . . but I'm curious, does either project have any African or African-American authors on the team? I don't think an African-inspired project necessarily HAS to have African representation on the writing/development team . . . . and it's no guarantee of accuracy, fairness, or quality . . . . but I would LOVE to see that. Just like Black Panther had heavy African involvement with the writing, and the cast and crew of the movie. Our hobby is predominately white, but I am 98% certain WotC or a...

  • 07:40 PM - Steve Conan Trustrum quoted Nylanfs in post [UPDATED] DM's Guild No Longer Allows Creator Logos On Product Covers
Don't forget that it took WotC FOREVER to come out with the srd and license for 4e. And the first license was DoA. Sent from my SM-G900P using TapatalkExcept 4e compatible product was already coming out at that point. They simply weren't branded with what would later become the official logos, license, etc. But it was there in the market. I wonder why people don't seem to remember those "unofficially compatible," unbranded 4e 3pp products too well ... ?

  • 12:15 AM - Rygar quoted Nylanfs in post With D&D Beyond has D&D Leap Frogged the Competition?
WotC has attempted several times to get into the digital market and has failed every time. They are not good with digital. And if you think it's trivial to make software for a niche market at the scale that Hasbro would require then I seriously doubt you have any experience in that field. I will guarantee you that a high school student can write a java app to store/display text in less than a week. This is not even entry level work.

And if you think it's trivial to make software for a niche market at the scale that Hasbro would require then I seriously doubt you have any experience in that field. What do you mean by digital market? Digital tools to use to play the game? I think they have done pretty good over the last 10 years (though not perfect). DDI got off to a rough start but it did become a pretty nice digital toolset. I used it for many years and other are still using it. With 5e it sounds like the FG and R20 partnerships are doing well, and the new DDB partnership looks very promising too (and will launch in 7 days). What recent failures have they had around digital tools for the RPG? If you are talking about video games then that is outside my realm as I don't play them.

PCGen has supported the 5e as of 18 hrs after the SRD dropped. And should one do a search for PCGen 5E Datasets you can probably find expanded source material. Completely agree - when I mentioned character builders starting with 3.x and PCGen I wasn't implying PCGen stopped there. Man, one player put together a data file for the gods of my campaign, and then I coded up a prestige class we had created for my homebrew setting. Very extensible. Good times.

  • 10:34 PM - Sadras quoted Nylanfs in post Journey To...East Africa
Ben Mcfarland did quite a bit of research into Africa for the Southlands setting for Midgard and Pathfinder. Sorry I might be completely wrong, and if I am - I'm certain someone will point it out, but from what I see from the preview this is just an RPG about Ancient Egypt + Aztec. There is much more to Africa than just one empire during a certain period. What happened to West Africa, Central or Southern Africa. There are a crap load of people, cultures + religions within Africa. I don't see many represented at all.
