Engineering is just a hop, skip, and a jump away as you were already at the rear end of the ship. Inside you are greeted by the comforting hum of the Nova Light ship reactor. Without much in the way of systems the reactor is currently in low power mode, but it looks like it was left relatively untouched by whatever scavengers stripped the ship. Skitter finds a functioning console for the...

Ships costs are abstract in Starfinder. At level 2 you will have enough BP to make the ship "functional" . It will just be a matter of working into the story how you get access to what you need, or coming up with a creative alternative.

There are some alternate access points but from what Skitter can ascertain when the blast doors along the hallway are engaged similar safety measures automatically block off the maintenance tubes. In the event of catastrophic damage this would help keep whole sections from venting air into space through the tubes, but it would take some work and time to rig them to function independently for the...

Shendra lets out a long sigh, not quite relief. She reshuffles her equipment back into place and briefly closes her fingers around the end of the wand Audrahni had given her. Not quite yet, she thinks to herself before letting go. "Let me do something for your wounds," she says to Michael, with only a slight quaver in her voice. Once he comes to her she says a few words and passes her hand over...

With a few commands you are able to get one of the blast doors along the hallway to close. That will give you some time to advance, though the enemy may decide on a change of plans as well.

There were two tactical semi-auto pistols and one hunting rifle, the latter of which came with an extra clip of ammo, as well as an mk i frag grenade. The pistol you grabbed had eight rounds left, the other one had seven, and the rifle had five (plus the six from the extra clip). They were not wearing armour of any kind, just environmental clothing.

There was a video with a couple of Paizo guys flipping through the pages of the Core Rulebook. I wonder if that is where the transcriptions came from, because if you are watching it in high resolution I think could probably basically read those pages.

Shendra goes absolutely still for about the space of a second, her eyes closing, and then she lets go of her spear and moves to unsling her crossbow. Her hand reaches towards her supply of bolts and only then do her eyes open as she places it in the groove and then quickly turns the crank to draw the string back.

Transferring ships functions to your custom rig takes a bit of doing but you appear to have been at least mostly successful. You were not, however, able to cut off other potential users from access to the controls. So what you do can still possibly be circumvented by other users with root access. "That psycho and her pet android too," growls Gistanne through gritted teeth.

What work does "urban" actually do in "urban fantasy" ? A city is mostly a place where rural fantasy traditions congregate and mix. The system should only ever be described as modern or contemporary fantasy. The "urban" is merely a setting.

I wouldn't be surprised if the stone digs went a tad too far and kicked the wrong galleries, you know!" - she smiles, her small fingers emulating a pair of horns. Great. Someone might have dug down towards a drow settlement. And with them, demons, of course... The conversation is suddenly interrupted by the appearance of a huge crowd of Fey. they stroll inside the Honeydew following a small entourage of mixed origins. Even humans are amidst those that lead the row. By now, the fey managed to pull high-pitched flutes and have been singing and dancing half the way through the Causeway. Odd fellows, no doubt, but there you have it: a lynch mob turned into a festive procession. Sometimes it seems that everything the Fey do is a ridiculous excuse for a party afterwards. ...lent, giving an ample idea of the problems. All heroes are somehow familiar with the peculiar aspects of the Fey law. The Fields of Honor are inhabited by magical forces that would take a heavy toll upon those inclined to break vows taken there. Blood would be spilled over the Root of Wisdom and, as legend goes, a pact broken would lead the involved to be cursed in strange and unique ways. Considering the erratic nature of the Fey, the Root of Wisdom is basically the only thing to keep them united. Otherwise, intrigue and uncontrolled desire would be the downfall of Alessia. As for the priestess, the Fey tend to indifference as far as dark forces go. Their usual neutrality allows for a wide range of alliances, and demons are a peculiar lot as far as desire goes. Still, profaning sacred soil or breaking sacred vows would still bear truly negative effects... [Sorry for the delay, guys. "I am sure that such a crisis will bring the very best out of that monastery of yours. Who else would save us?" - she turns a mocking smile towards Alice Chalk and Arduniel. "And who, might I ask, called you here? Certainly, not I, since I already have capable hands taking care of the matter." - she points towards Alice once more. Her body language translates a mild hostility, bred from the cautious posture of a ruler. Apparently, she considers herself the leader of this settlement, no doubt a controversial allegation, to say the least... @Neurotic @KahlessNestor @MetaVoid @Shayuri @Charlotte of Oz @Kaodi @Neurotic, the window remained open, yes. If you want to, just edit your post. I'll hold the answer back a bit, in order to adapt it to your choice. Also, jmucchiello, can you give me a name for the monastery? :)]

Kaodi, take a look at Vigilante class - it takes the idea of masked avenger, provides rules and options - you don't get spells, but you get some nice abilities (which you can choose) - for example my avenger has climb speed and is night prawler - simple change to make it BAT based. http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?510917-Crowns-of-Ice-The-Lords-Gallery&p=7043875&viewfull=1#post7043875

Hahaha, loved it, Kaodi! Gave me a good impression of drow life as well. :) You still have to select magic items, though, hehehe! If you want in, be most welcome! I'm just warming up the group, starting to grasp their backstories. It'd be ideal to enter now!

Viridian walks calmly, safe distance from Thorn. His small stature and wings help him navigate treacherous steps much more easily and he pays attention to wiry human in case it slips again. "I need to find out which ones are egg keepers and which are hunters." he thinks to himself. As Thorn joins her companions, he stays comfortable distance from the group and calls out to them presenting his arms with claws sheathed as before. "Strangers! i present myself as Claugendeem Calaun of the clan Claug Atar! Thy kind hath called mine own ruler Viridian Queen, thus thee may calleth me Viridian! I cometh in peace to parley. We has't ingraft foe - I giveth to join forces 'gainst the foulness of this realm. May i approach?" Sorry to see you go Kaodi, but totally understand, this is a slow moving game, definitely. Some of them just end up being that way. Mowgli I love Vakeva, he always makes me laugh and he's one of the more well thought out characters in this game. Fenris will be here, you can count him in. He's feeling horribly guilty for abandoning his games for us getting married so just guilt him a little more and he'll be along ;)

The thing I am not sure about: it kind of looks like weapons and armour have to have not just a potency rune of the desired value but the potency rune of every lesser value as well. So, for instance, a "fresh" +4 rune is the cost of a +4 rune plus a +3 rune plus a +2 rune plus a +1 rune. At least that is how I am reading it. That's not how i read it. It's just that if you want to have lower potency runes on higher quality armour, they give you the math to do it. Edit: I see what you're talking about now. YET ANOTHER SECTION. Yeah, that's Runes. They're to upgrade already existing magic items, so they only go on items that are already enchanted one lower. *** On the previous subject, though, regarding item bonuses... the Magic Armour does't say that the potency rune gives you an item bonus, it says it increases the item bonus: "The armorís item bonus to AC and TAC increases by the potency value" ...Though apparently quality armour only reduces its armour check penalty. So... even thoug...

Furious Focus seems like it might be one of the stand out feats in the whole game. It's not as good as it reads at first. It's a press. It can only be used as a second attack in multiple attack routines. So Like I get my first attack, and if I attack again and miss at -5 I can attack with my third action at -5. If it could be used on the FIRST attack then it would be really awesome.

I think we are ready to murder some <redacted> , <redacted> <redacted> <redacted> ? If we want to keep using this thread for both parties OOC should we perhaps put anything spoilery in sblocks? Or should we just get two separate OOC threads going? I was hoping to avoid to OOCs. But maybe it's needed. Let's play it with one for a little longer and if necessary I can always create it. The problem is I also expect we'll be using this thread to create the 4th level parties for chapter 2 once the story really starts moving. Three OOCs?

    Level 20. You still get ability boosts at level 20.Well... now that you mention that... Having 22 for only 1 level of play probably isn't worth skipping +1 resonance form 15-19 (and +2 resonance at level 20). So, unless I was starting at level 20 I'd probably would do 20 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 16 Or maybe 20 (@ level 10) / 20 (@ level 15) / 18 / 18 / 18 / 12
  • 01:07 AM - mellored quoted Kaodi in post Itís LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!
Actually I do not think you can get 22/22 because you cannot get two 18s at start? You're right. I think the most stacked set of even numbers you can get is 22, 20, 20, 20, 10, 8 with an 18, 14, 14, 14, 10, 8 starting array. That might work well for a Bard. Dumping Str and Int, and picking up Eclectic Skill to fill in the gaps. But I'm not sure I'd take that for most.

In 5E terms you get 4 ASIS at those levels but once you get an 18 you only get +1 instead of +2.

What is the basis for dumping Str with Divine casters? That you just use Chill Touch and Reach Spell for offence?I could see all 3 clerics. 22 Str clerics, with (mostly) support spells that don't depend on Wis. (i.e. bless). 22 Wis clerics, who use chill touch and DC spells. 22 Str / 22 Wis / 18 Con / 18 Dex / 14 Cha / 12 Int clerics, who can both attack, cast chlll touch, and use DC spells. Also, ranged attacks use Dex, so Str isn't a huge deal. Though, the +1 AC from medium armor means you might not want Str to be at least 14, even if your going full spell caster. But mainly, I see 22 in your main stat (and 18 in Con/Dex/wis) as being the winner most of the time. With 22/22 being worth it in some cases (hopefully one of those will be Con/Dex/Wis). Not that 20 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 16 (int or cha) would be awful or anything... Really, with 4 choices and a reason to take each stat, it's hard to screw up.
  • 06:46 PM - mellored quoted Kaodi in post Itís LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!
What do you guys think the optimal state distribution is in the endgame? Str is an easy dump for many classes. If your not wearing heavy armor and a heavy weapon, there isn't a big need for it. Cha and Int are also somewhat weak. As 2 out of your 20 resonnance (at level 20), or 2 extra trained skill (you don't extra get skill feats...) is probably worth losing for +1 to hit. Fort / Ref / Will are not easy dumps, but probably not worth the 2 boosts for. Con as hit points isn't a huge thing. So 18's for them. So that's 2 or 3 stats you could potentially leave behind. So... For the non-strength classes, I would say... 22 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 12 (str) For the Str classes it still seems worth getting 22. 22 (str) / 18 / 18 / 18 / 16 (int) / 16 (cha) I could also see some multi-classes going... 22 / 22 / 18 / 18 / 18 / 16 (int/cha) / 10 (str)

Would the "prepared" heightening be sufficient you think if it was one spell per level of spell you can cast rather than a flat two spells? Yeah, I'm not sure, Sorc has always been low on the spell points/slots...but this seems a bit tighter than usual

Would the "prepared" heightening be sufficient you think if it was one spell per level of spell you can cast rather than a flat two spells? You should be able to heighten everything. You only have so many total spells EVER. That's your limitation. According one thread on the Paizo boards, you can't even use alternate spell slots at all. You can cast Magic Missile as a 1st level spell using a 2nd level slot. So once you cal you 3 1st level spells, you lose all access to those 1st level spells unless one of them is your free heighten-able spell of the day. That and the fighter hogging all the combat feats lights up the Paizo forums.

Yeah my first instinct with Vorgrym was that I wanted him to be able to cook a decent meal but 2 Bulk for a Cooking Kit is absolutely bonkers from a game perspective. Gotta be a cast-iron pot, a cast-iron skillet, and a bundle of firewood (with perhaps, a pot-stand). AND utensils.

It wasn't free - they wanted me to sign in and accept marketing emails. That's not free. If I'm the product it isn't free. Edit: They even watermark the playtest! Luckily I used maildrop.cc to create a burner email with no connection to my real personal details I will never read or use again. It is all OGL anyway. You are free to copy and distribute the relevant text. I do not object to the politics espoused in general and I agree that they describe the best way to conduct a game. I do think they could have worded it more judiciously though. The way it is written seems a little possessive - as if they merely sold you a revocable license to play the game rather than a copy of the game (This might be a playtest but I assume they are modelling the language they want to use in the real consumer product). I think it would be better if they framed it more as why making inclusive games makes for better, more enjoyable, and most importantly - more reliable experiences. Because co-oper...

I am not sure that oversized weapons actually get extra damage dice, or any extra damage at all for that matter beyond the bonus while raging. I was looking at this specific issue just the other day because I was trying to make a halfling titan mauler barbarian who used a slingstaff (because that would be hilarious at high levels). Even if you look at just the giant and ogre entries in the bestiary the rules they use seem to be wildly inconsistent. Some get more dice for non-magical weapons of larger size, some do not. All of the magic weapons seem to only do as much damage as a medium sized magic weapon. But the non-magic weapons are super confusing. Yeah, I looked and apparently weapon damage does not vary by size. But then you look in the bestiary and giants are doing 2d12 with greatswords. <shrug>

I am not sure what the reasoning behind that would be if this were an intentional change. I could perhaps learn to live with the format change but the XP change just takes up more space on the page needlessly. My guess (and Morrus can correct me if I am wrong) is that this alteration is not so much about the minutae of font sizes. It is probably more about system performance - to see if this template may render faster, with fewer calls to the database, than the old one.

Fitz, I think all of your attack values are one too high? I believe pretty much only Fighters can get +6 to attack at 1st level because they are Expert at simple and martial weapons. Everyone else is merely Trained. You're right, thanks. I keep getting confused between "Trained gives you +1 (your level)" and the mistake I made which is "Trained gives you +1 AND you add your level to everything". I'll fix it.

If I am still going to play the Wizard(?) then I guess I could switch Athletics to Stealth. Where does it say that though? I try to search parts of that phrase in the rulebook and it does not come up. Kinda sucks because that feat seems almost completely useless to me anyway. Basically, the "tried and true and not printed in the playtest explicitly" rule where if you no longer possess the prerequisites for a feat, you can't use the feat. The Background chapter should either say what I posted above or "you don't need to qualify for feats granted by your background." I've been thinking about this for several days. And the abuse not needing to qualify could cause it too great. So I'm going with rule that you need to qualify by the time char gen is finished. (Without that caveat, you can't even receive the feat since backgrounds are picked before class skills.) If you save the wizard for the 3rd adventure, it would use a background from the playtest book. Are you thinking of playing the...

Kind of funny that ki strike and ki blast now have verbal casting, though I imagine those who decry PF2 as too "anime" may feel insulted. When my orc monk shouts "Charging Boar Wave!" and unleashes his Ki Blast though I will smile. Anyone who's ever been to a martial arts studio can attest that certain strikes or attacks can, or even should, utilize a vocal cry/exhalation when making the attack. Why you can certain flavor your verbal casting as a catchphrase, I don't think introducing a verbal element automatically triggers "oh no, anime".
  • 03:47 PM - mellored quoted Kaodi in post The PF2 alchemist
I guess I do kind of wonder how Alchemists will fare at higher levels. On the plus side, they are the only class that can overspend on their "spells" as long as they get lucky. They seem to scale the same as any other class. Level 15 Items have the same DC and damage as a level 15 wizard. And there's no reason to make low-level items unless it's for utility (i.e. sea touch elixir for swim speed). They all cost 1 RP.
