Engineering is just a hop, skip, and a jump away as you were already at the rear end of the ship. Inside you are greeted by the comforting hum of the Nova Light ship reactor. Without much in the way of systems the reactor is currently in low power mode, but it looks like it was left relatively untouched by whatever scavengers stripped the ship. Skitter finds a functioning console for the...

Ships costs are abstract in Starfinder. At level 2 you will have enough BP to make the ship "functional" . It will just be a matter of working into the story how you get access to what you need, or coming up with a creative alternative.

There are some alternate access points but from what Skitter can ascertain when the blast doors along the hallway are engaged similar safety measures automatically block off the maintenance tubes. In the event of catastrophic damage this would help keep whole sections from venting air into space through the tubes, but it would take some work and time to rig them to function independently for the...

Shendra lets out a long sigh, not quite relief. She reshuffles her equipment back into place and briefly closes her fingers around the end of the wand Audrahni had given her. Not quite yet, she thinks to herself before letting go. "Let me do something for your wounds," she says to Michael, with only a slight quaver in her voice. Once he comes to her she says a few words and passes her hand over...

With a few commands you are able to get one of the blast doors along the hallway to close. That will give you some time to advance, though the enemy may decide on a change of plans as well.

There were two tactical semi-auto pistols and one hunting rifle, the latter of which came with an extra clip of ammo, as well as an mk i frag grenade. The pistol you grabbed had eight rounds left, the other one had seven, and the rifle had five (plus the six from the extra clip). They were not wearing armour of any kind, just environmental clothing.

There was a video with a couple of Paizo guys flipping through the pages of the Core Rulebook. I wonder if that is where the transcriptions came from, because if you are watching it in high resolution I think could probably basically read those pages.

Shendra goes absolutely still for about the space of a second, her eyes closing, and then she lets go of her spear and moves to unsling her crossbow. Her hand reaches towards her supply of bolts and only then do her eyes open as she places it in the groove and then quickly turns the crank to draw the string back.

Transferring ships functions to your custom rig takes a bit of doing but you appear to have been at least mostly successful. You were not, however, able to cut off other potential users from access to the controls. So what you do can still possibly be circumvented by other users with root access. "That psycho and her pet android too," growls Gistanne through gritted teeth.

What work does "urban" actually do in "urban fantasy" ? A city is mostly a place where rural fantasy traditions congregate and mix. The system should only ever be described as modern or contemporary fantasy. The "urban" is merely a setting.

  • 08:00 PM - Dr Simon mentioned Kaodi in post The Trefaldwyn Chronicle - Dark Ages Pathfinder OOC
Kaodi, having looked up those options, sounds good to me, I like it. Shayuri, yes, the Romans pulled resources out of Britain about 200 years before the time of this setting, leaving Romanised Celts who gradually lost most of the Roman influence without continued traffic with the Empire,of which the Western portion is now ruled by the Visigoths who sort of consider themselves heirs to the Empire but again pretty much follow their own culture. As far as druids go, I think we are safe coming up with our own interpretation. Something that might be relevant to both characters - it is 100 years or so since the Battle of Camlann and the death of King Arthur; Merlin vanished some years before that and Morgan the Fey some time after, but both figures would be important influences in the world of magic and fey, if you wanted to include them in your background.

Improved Trip; Attack vs AC; damage (1d20+13=19, 1d20+11=23, 2d4+6-2=6) - lowest damage possible! :( Note: I'm channeling next round, if you have anything that can reduce lightning resist or SR or lower fort save, cast it. Bless would be useful if you get time from healing me, Kaodi. Mowgli, grease if you have it? Stunning fist? The priest next to him moves across abd reaches over the catwalk, dipping the tip of his scythe into the vat of nastiness. He swaps places with the priest who was blinded by Manachan's spell, who has now shaken it off and who moves to Rolth's side, healing some of the necromancer's injuries with a spell. The three other priests move forwards with their sycthes. One slashes at Ignatius, another rushes towards Manachan. Both draw blood. Although he has the advantage of height, the third cultist has trouble getting past Edmond's reach and fails to connect. 56035 Rolth - casts spell but fails concentration against damage. P1 - move north, dip scythe. P2 - move, attack Ignatius, hit for 9 damage. P4 - move, attack Manachan, hit for 9 damage. P5 - 5 ft. step, attack Edmond, miss. P6 - makes save, move, cast spell. Kaodi, you can read the spoiler block for Mowgli above, since Ignatius made his Spellcraft check too.

  • 12:27 AM - Remathilis quoted Kaodi in post D&D, Pathfinder, Core Rules, and the "F" word...
I have said in the other thread that I see APs as the strength of Paizo. Since their APs are all tied into their setting I do think that there is a definite case for making the rules more exclusive to the Golarion flavour. However - I would not want to see them go overboard with this approach. The Age of Generic Fantasy may be over, but as long as the word "homebrew" exists the Age of Adaptable Fantasy never will be. I have to agree. D&D has to remain at least slightly generic if its supposed support Faerun, Krynn, Ravenloft, Athas, and Eberron more or less equally. And while Pathfinder only needs to support Golarion, I think it would a great disservice to the setting to replace fighters, clerics, rogues, and wizards with gunslingers, oracles, swashbucklers, and summoners. I just think the core books shouldn't attempt to be "generic" in the vain hope of not-offending those who use the systems for homebrewing or alternate settings. I recall a lot of angst (for example) at dragonborn being ...

  • 06:05 AM - prosfilaes quoted Kaodi in post Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!
More I was suggesting that I thought it possible that PF1 APs (not rulebooks) might continue to be popular enough to see print as is. Pathfinder APs are sold like periodicals; they're printed mainly for subscribers but with enough to supply game stores, and once they're out of print, they're out of print. They have twice published a full AP as a standalone book, but they've made a big deal about not doing that regularly, in part because they don't want cut into the subscriber market; if you want an AP in print, get a subscription, or at least buy it while it's fresh. They will continue to design and releases PF1 APs until PF2 comes out, but then they're not going to go back and reprint stuff for PF1 that they wouldn't have reprinted when PF1 was in print. They don't plan on taking the PDFs down, so those will always be available.
  • 12:36 AM - Olaf the Stout quoted Kaodi in post Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!
I would not be surprised if Paizo continues to sell PF1 APs to PF2 players. I mean APs are what the company stands for. And I think any conversion issues will probably be quite manageable with a simpler creation systems that they are proposing. I certainly plan on completing my purchase of the Kingmaker AP when I eventually have disposable income again. I disagree that they would do that. That will mean 2 lots of stats, 2 lots of layout, potentially 2 smaller print runs. That just seems like a good way to almost double your workload while getting the same revenue. Far better to just release it as PF2, which keeps your workload the same, but more importantly encourages your players to shift to the new system and re-buy all the rulebooks from you.

Definitely artsy. Might be due to being exposed to lots and lots of fantasy artwork in RPG books. Sometimes, however, I find myself looking at random people or characters in TV shows and think "okay, this one looks TOTALLY like NPC X or PC Z". In fact, one of my contacts in uni looks exactly like a modern version of one of my campaign's baddies. basically an impressionistic version of Wayne A. Reynolds Okay this one blows my mind and I'd really like to see someone take on an impressionistic version of WARs art (which I consider to be more comic style expressionistic) :D

I wonder if you could make an argument that in some ways Ragnarok and Black Panther fit together thematically. Black Panther references what might have been possible without colonialism. Ragnarok can be read as covering up the "unpleasant" bits of a colonial past. BP is still a comic adaption and I find any it rather questionable to use Wakanda as some sort of "what would have been without colonialism" role model.

You could even tie in Iron Mans anti-imperialism arc (best demonstrated by the Maximoff twins hatred of Tony Stark and his change from weapons dealer to Hero). Marvel also has a big subplot concerning dysfunctional fathers - from merely amoral Howard Stark through to negligent T'chaka and the insane David Banner right through to universe conquering Odin and Ego the Living Planet (if need be we can through the fathers of Luke Cage, Daredevil and Quake into that line up too). Its no wonder their children deal with problems through violence :P

There's no plausible explanation for tons of stuff in Star Trek! • 08:39 AM - Dannyalcatraz quoted Kaodi in post New D&D Movie: July 23rd 2021
This thread has gotten real weird real fast. Two things: If you are American you may have no idea how grating "made for an American audience" can be to the rest of us in the English speaking world who consume much the same stuff. And the only questionable thing in "generic white guy" is "generic" . It manages to be both (very) mildly insulting and yet implicitly perpetuates the notion of "white" as "default" . Well, because in Hollywood, white IS the default. Here’s a recent example: Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss Everdeen, and pretty much everyone agrees she did a good job in The Hunger Games movies. However, in the books, Katniss is described as “non-white, with dark, olive skin.” Even if we accept that Lawrence was chosen for her acting abilities, that kudos is negated because minority actors were not even given a chance at the role. Lionsgate’s casting call (posted on a website run by Breakdown Services) asked for the following 4 physical characteristics (paraphrasing):...

I feel guilty about not watching it because I really like Emily Hampshire. Does that count? She really stands out. Great actress. I've never seen her before.

  • 06:01 PM - Thomas Bowman quoted Kaodi in post New D&D Movie: July 23rd 2021
If the plot of the movie is so plodding that they have time to worry about making a makeshift camera instead of just trying to stay alive then the movie has an entirely different problem. The thing is, The Hobbit, and to a lesser extent The Lord of the Rings, already does "country bumpkin" as a means of giving the protagonist a sense of wonder at the events that they find themselves thrust into. Hobbits are petite rural Englishmen. You need heroes that can convey through their reaction that these events and set pieces are exceptional, not merely "Tuesday" in their magical dangerworld, and that are not ignorant rubes. The character losing his camera and not being believed when he comes back to his World is straight out of the Wizard of Oz. I don't necessarily think a journalist is the best character to send to the Forgotten Realms, I was thinking more in the lines of a Soldier, or maybe an Engineer, who starts out at first level, but has some talents that if used correctly makes him eff...

It would be interesting to have a party start out at level 1 in game-speak. So many movies the protagonists are already incredibly powerful when they are introduced with little room for growth. So instead of James Bond (or Legolas) level characters, start out with people who grab a sword and whatever armor is lying around to go fight the big bad only to get their butts k...

KahlessNestor, is it strictly necessary for you to post your characters picture in every single IC post? I have known several PbP players over the years to do this, but I never saw the appeal of having the same large gif repeated over and over and over. It kind of breaks up the flow of the posts. If you are dead set on including it I will not press further, but I thought I could be forgiven for asking once.I don't need to, no. When I started PbP here, I was told it was the preferred way. In fact, many GMs specifically called it out. If that's not the case any longer, I'm sorry. I'll stop Sent from my [device_name] using EN World mobile app
