Given how many people refuse to even consider altering their original interpretation of something in these discussions, and the multi-page threads that have resulted, I want to applaud BrockBallingdark for being willing to reexamine when handed new information. :) --Mouse-"Bloody sick of the blindsight thread but can't seem to look away from it"-feratu.

I'm confused... so Moria is part of the second edition and no longer a KS project? In this thread at RPG Geek-- https://rpggeek.com/thread/2204543/cubicle-7-announces-one-ring-second-edition--they confirm that this is the same product, delayed to update it to 2nd edition. They don't indicate if it's still going to be a Kickstarter project or not, though.

I'm probably the only guy that didn't like the Critical Role Series but since I've been dying for a real D&D animation since the original, I threw $10 bucks at it. Hollywood doesn't get D&D and this may spark something huge. I don't watch critical role, but I might toss $20 or something at them later this month.

  • 05:31 AM - Wyvern quoted BrockBallingdark in post A Crunchy Take On Conan From Modiphius Entertainment
It's a discussion about the Conan 2d20 system. Um, yeah. I can see that. But the fact that it's right at the top of the front page, under the heading "News Updates", with an opening line that says "Modiphius Entertainment has released their take on the character of Conan," as if it's something that just happened... well, it creates a false impression, is all I'm saying.

  • 08:23 AM - R_Chance quoted BrockBallingdark in post Cubicle 7 Wants You To Speak, Friend, Then Enter
Even though I only play The One Ring in it's original system, I'm fine with the box being dual statted. It saves them money to have one product that takes care of both systems. I will add, I'm hoping this isn't a trend for future products of TOR (dual stats). They can dual stat to their hearts content. I really like their work and their books are beautiful. That said, I don't have TOR, I do have AiME. And I want this one. I've passed on products just produced for TOR, and waiting for them to work their way back through their TOR releases for AiME is... annoying. I think dual statting releases would alleviate this problem (for me anyway) even if it means paying more for the products. I first read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings in the early 70s just before I started D&D in '74. Moria was my ideal dungeon back in the day. I want to see what they do with it.

Yeah it's lower than I expected honestly. I'm sure we'll still have the typical D&D whiners but I think it's a good deal. There are already responses in the announcement thread asking for discounts if they have the physical books :erm: I'm not paying a monthly subscription, one time cost is what I'm waiting for. It is a flat cost for the books. It's only a subscription if you want the extra features like managing a campaign or unlimited character slots and no ads.

Same here, I hate the Forgotten Realms (if it needs to be tracked somewhere). It is. It's tracked by WotC who determined that it was simply a numbers thing. So many hate it because so many MORE love it. Love it or hate it, it's the main campaign and isn't likely to change.

  • 01:33 AM - KahlessNestor quoted BrockBallingdark in post Superheroes are a hot commodity -- why aren't superhero RPG's?
Marvel Heroic RPG allowed Daredevil to fight along with Thor or the Hulk with no problems. The great thing is that the Cortex Prime KS is running right now (I think 24 hours left) and will bring back the mechanics that we loved for MHR and adding even more stuff to the game. I feel once Cortex Prime goes out to the public, you'll be seeing alot of Superhero games being runned than before. I didn't know that. I have the Hacker's Guide and Cortex Classic PDFs. Good to know more is coming. Sent from my SM-G900P using EN World mobile app

  • 07:09 PM - Inglorin quoted BrockBallingdark in post D&D Beyond Beta: Your First Thoughts Thread!
There is no option to download anything, it's just the Web interface at Phase 1. As far as I remember they didn't promise the anything downloadable. They said that you could play you character offline. That may as well mean a not-so-stupid-Webpage that just syncs with the server when it has a connection. Found it: from http://www.tribality.com/2017/03/15/dd-beyond-qa-with-curses-senior-product-manager-adam-bradford/ Will the content only be available while the device is connected to the internet? Will there be some offline capabilities? I can’t talk about that part quite yet, mostly due to the fact that whatever I say at this point would be met with more than a healthy dose of misconception in the community. We have a license that does not restrict how we deliver the tool set – it allows us to provide it using any technology on any platform. All will be explained on that front soon! What I can say is that we are fully aware of the offline capability concerns and are working to mitigate those co...

If you have a one time Life-time Subscription cost, like Fantasy Grounds does with their Ultimate license, I'll do that. Pay once and not worry about it. I know I would still have to pay for books I may want to add in the future, I just HATE monthly subscriptions, especially for RPG gaming. I concur. My gaming (video, tabletop, or otherwise) often is not consistent enough to justify an ongoing monthly subscription, so a one-time lump some is far more palatable.
  • 01:46 AM - turkeygiant quoted BrockBallingdark in post What Are These Four Unnamed D&D Products?
Tokens/pawns would be cool but I'm not sure if they want to do pawns when they have minis. I know Paizo does both and I rather have cheaper great awesome pawns than sometimes shoddy plastic minis. Maybe a book of backgrounds, character sheets or dungeon tiles. I truly can't guess with WOTC, like I could in the past, they have been doing great in doing things I'm not expecting! If you are right I hope they are tokens, I dont like all the white space on Paizo pawns. I found they kinda cluttered the game map when you had any number of them in the same area.

Looking forward to see the end product, especially if it's even better than herolabs. Anything that is remotely competently made will be better than Hero Labs. I want to be excited but just will remain cautiously smiling. Wise move. One thing that I didn't see listed, but consider a must-have for this to be really useful, is an initiative tracker. Ideally, it would have the ability to do full encounter building, in advance, for a whole adventure. I'd take an initiative tracker. Then I'd need a laptop to replace the seven books, DM screen, and various and sundry other items I have to cart to games.

If people missed out on the last KS, they can pick it up on this KS. Great looking maps for digital or as physical boards/maps for your table! Thank you very much BrockBallingdark - we got a mention on Tenkars Tavern as a great KS but a bit all over the place as regards the content and organization. I've since had a retool of the campaign and hopefully it now reads better, is clearer, and there is enough information in the campaign and FAQs to answer most questions without being an information overload. You can also get the 60 Meander 1 maps if you spend $10 - so if you spend $45, you can get 108 27x18" digital maps. That's insane. And I love it. I've also dropped the price of printed boards to $40 AUD ea. Thanks for the shout out man, 30% of the way there, 27 days to go. Fingers crossed. Kind Regards, Kris

  • 09:43 PM - crazy_cat quoted BrockBallingdark in post [UPDATED - With Cubicle 7] Games Workshop Concluding Deal For Licensing Rights To Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
I agree, I love Modiphius but with Star Trek and Conan currently and John Carter down the line... I don't want them bogged down more. C7 is awesome too (even though I am not a Warhammer fan at all) they could do it. Agreed re Modiphius - have loved some of the stuff they have produced to date, but they are months behind on current projects like the Conan KS (as an example) already! Wave two of Conan releases should be out by now on their timelines but the wave 1 core book isn't actually finished yet.

Actually I was part of the Conan RPG KS by Modiphius last March. :) The physical books haven't gone out yet but they have released PDF of the Core book (for revisions and error checking) to the backers. I'm crossing my fingers the physical books start going out in March. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/robert-e-howards-conan-roleplaying-game?ref=discovery You do know you are quoting a post from January 2016 don't you?
  • 08:17 PM - vpuigdoller quoted BrockBallingdark in post Unearthed Arcana Introduces The Artifcer
Eberron being my favorite setting ever for D&D, I like what they did with the artificer, minus the guns (hate that). I will not be using this class for any of the settings I run but Eberron. I will tweak the getting magic item things for free part. I didn't play Eberron crazy with magic items for 3rd Edition (hated 4th), so I could get this to work for 5E easily. After thinking a few days about it. I would replace the magic item part with an invention list like the tinker gnome inventions. You would get a blueprint from the list at the same lvls and you could find other blueprints around to dms discretion. Each imvention would have a maximum number of charges, lets say 3 charges maximum then it breaks. At higher lvls you can make items with more charges. Then a blueprint example would be water breathing mask, when a charge is used you can breath underwater for an hour. To create this items you have to expend days and resources.
