I’m thinking mind-altering chemicals exuded from the amphibian’s skin- a la the Colorado River toad, a.k.a. the Sonoran Desert toad- might help the process along. In addition, your description of the breeding process indicates to me your creatures may be distantly related to- or convergently evolving towards- slaad.

Perhaps. I recall that conversation, and probably weighed in on the “not gonna pay for it” side. Still, it IS a skill. And not everyone can develop it. Maybe it took time for the hobby to grow big enough that the % of hobbyist GMs was too small to support the number of players looking for games. OTOH, I have never seen a listing requesting or advertising a pro GM.

Indeed. I mean, there's always cantrips. A firebolt or eldritch blast never runs out, but those 3rd level spell slots burn up pretty quickly if you keep using them for counterspell every single round. Each counterspell that a foe casts is a lightning bolt that won't happen. It's also a Reaction that won't happen, and that can be a big deal. A caster who uses counterspell can't make...

What are some of these must-have items that you keep close? Here's mine. A deck of Tarot cards. I don't have a problem with Counterspell, except that it should probably be on every spellcaster's list (going back to what the OP had written about it being something that all casters had.) But even that isn't a deal-breaker for me. I mean, it uses both a valuable 3rd level spell slot and your Reaction, and requires you to see the spell being cast...fairly balanced IMO. If your foe is...

It can't be possible that people actually think the earth is flat or an out of focus star is a space ship or the moon is a projection. Well, I personally see the Heavenly Host from Doctor Who as a missed opportunity in that regard. While they are made to look like angels, their faces are mostly fairly masculine, while angels are supposed to be androgynous. So in this case, “the point” would be making them more closely resemble what they are emulating. I could also see androgynous androids as being perceived as less...

Yeah, that’s a good suggestion. Anyone who saw yours and had participated in a prior thread would likely post a link to it!

I skipped around and looked at your notes at the end. I'm not sure they announce arriving flights like that, but I believe the announcement would use the whole location "Los Angeles, California" mainly because just using LA could be confusing to some like foriegn travelers. Also the line above it is missing the word one.

I do both. As I have nerve damage that is spreading I am painting less and less. Each have their benefits.

I listened to portion of an interview with astronaut Jim Lovell as he talked about orbiting the moon and seeing Earth first time. He could hold his thumb up and hide the whole planet. He thought about the 5 billion people, and everything he knew just being behind his thumb. It had to be surreal. I often think about wanting to go to space. Looking back, could handle what I was seeing?

Even that term was more an exception than a rule, though.

We use the optional rules for encumbrance. Having the players track their carry weight really does cut down on the amount of battered junk getting hauled around to be sold.

I went and checked: PC Dwarves could be Fighters, Thieves and Assassins. NPC Dwarves were limited to 8th level. All races except Half-Orcs were unlimited as Thieves, who were instead unlimited as Assassins.

You might want to check that: dwarves could be Clerics, too. (In addition, when the classes were added, they could be alchemists and psionicists as well.) Also, every race had at least one class in which their progression was unlimited. As I recall, that was Thief for dwarves. (Possibly all races.)

Yep. Seen it many times, but it never seemed to stick. Just like “man” became a synonym for humanity, the male-rooted “Android” became the term for human-stimulant artificial life. Nobody seemed to care for a female-rooted version of the term.

When I was a teen, I went back to Europe. The last half of the trip was behind the Iron Curtain- it was still a thing, then- and I ran out of my antiperspirant halfway through the trip. “No biggie.” I thought. I would just go buy some at the hotel store. Problem #1: there were no American brands at all, nor any European brands I knew. All were Eastern European. No roll-ons, either. So I...

We also smell different from Europeans, IME. Americans- of both genders- tend to favor detergents, soaps and perfumes with floral or powdery smells...and sometimes, in unfortunately large amounts. In that context, we almost smell like babies. After living in Europe for just a few months, I was often able to tell when another American had wandered nearby. After a few years, I could...

  • 05:35 AM - Knightfall quoted Poisoner in post [Tell me about...] Palladium Fantasy, 1st Edition (plus Palladium's other books)
Forked from: Tell me about these older edition D&D products [revised list] It was Trade Day Today! I went to a local used book store and traded away some non-gaming books of mine for two used game-based books. <snip> The second one I traded for to use as trade bait at Whyte Knight. How rare is this Palladium book? http://www.enworld.org/forum/attachments/general-rpg-discussion/39911d1240264089-tell-me-about-these-older-edition-d-d-products-revised-list-102_6615.jpg That's first edition Palladium Fantasy. I don't think it is rare, and I'm not sure if it is sought after. On Amazon I can buy one used for $5 and new for $6 and that includes shipping. The second edition version of the game I have usually seen as the preferred game. Good to know. I would have hated to give up something really rare, that I didn't know about, for very little. (I thought "Revised Edition" might have meant 2nd or 3rd Edition, but since I don't know anything about Palladium books, I didn't ...
