So Fenris it's your turn! and then its the monsters after you. Because you're starting your turn within Shayuri's gust of wind, make a DC 13 Strength save or be pushed 15 feet away from her following the line. As Tamaran launches himself headlong into the grasping pea-soup mists, he can hear the murderous hissing of awakened spirits behind him, to his side, and ahead of him. His reflexes keep him just out of the grasp of whatever spirits lurk in the mist, his shins clipping a small rock wall which he clears at the last moment. There is a spirit somewhere close to the elf, causing the hairs at the back of his neck to stand on end. Listen to pinpoint a creature in the mist that is making noise (e.g. a fellow PC, old witch, Kynee, troll/ogre, or maybe something else). Make a DC 13 Wisdom (Perception) check; however, failing by 5+ mislocates that creature in weird mists. Listen to make out what Kynee and the witch are whispering to one another. ...een the case, if not for a mysterious ally, one that called for a late-night meeting, not far from the cottages that served the travelers. "Meet me at the shack by the Crow Tree", said the message. Even for a foreigner, the meeting place was an easy finding. The Crow Tree had been, in ages past, the cruel fate of many a criminal. Many were hung from the branches of the crooked, massive thing. Because of it, the place became ideal for secret gatherings. Most people avoided the area, considering it to be haunted. [You may engage in all sorts of activities during the day, meet NPCs, make plans, and so on. If you choose to go to the meeting by night, just describe your arrival; all PCs are invited. If you choose to do something else, just describe it as well. :) Welcome back, everyone, and sorry for the delay. Work, sickness and trouble stirred life a bit, and this thread is particularly filled with details. This is why kept it silent as I walked through the worst of the troubles.] Fenris Queenie tglassy Neurotic

Also let me make sure I have this correct Queenie - Katarina's native language is Spanish Shayuri - Nia's native language is Jamaican? peterka99 - Etienne's native language is French Matthan - Blaise's native language is French Thateous - Jacques' native language is French Fenirs - Ole Zef's native language is ????? Si, Senor. But Kat also speaks French and Thieves Cant as well as English. Fenris Zef's native language is Dutch. But he can speak lots of languages. I think as long as you also speak English, you'd be fine with any language.

There's also Fenris playing Old Zef the surly and often drunk dwarf. Thateous is playing Jacques (I believe that's right) the rather remarkable chef. I believe he was most recently seen wooing our captain with pastries. I think that's everyone that was active.

I played gust of wind a little wrong – it doesn’t require a DC 13 STR save when cast; it requires it at the start of a creature’s turn who is in the gust’s area of effect. So I am gonna roll saves (again) for Old Witch & Kynee. I'm envisioning Shamra the wolf entering into gust of wind. If gust of wind is still ongoing at start of wolf’s turn, she'll need to make saving throw as well (same goes for anyone else in gust of wind's area of effect). That positioning *feels* the most realistic to me, but if you have problem with it let me know Azurewraith. Fenris You have a choice. Do you want Fergus to enter into the area effect of gust of wind (benefitting from no difficult terrain in that area, so allowing you to get closer to Kynee, but risking as I explained above)? Or do you want to stop just outside gust of wind's area of effect?

After an uncomfortable pause while the creature awaits the introduction of the rest of the group, it lowers itself on the haunches and leans forward on its arms looking like a small dragon stalking the prey. Finally, it speaks to Meliara as she spoke last. "I am quality people. I giveth thee mine own solemn holidam upon scales of apnu yond i shall holp howev'r i can 'gainst the demons. I gage to thee yond nay harm shall cometh from me 'r mine own tribe to any of thee." "I am quality people. ...m the OP? There's a list of 12 options at bottom of my OP. Story-wise, Ferdinand is as anti-Nilfgaardian as they come. If we were running a game set in Temeria, it'd be easy to tie him into things. But the story starts in Dol Blathanna. I make that very clear in my OP. So... We'll need to devise a damn good reason for him to be so far east of occupied Temeria, near Dol Blathanna, land of the elves. How does he know about Odvara and why does he care? My OP is really clear about the story. I'd help more, but I need more to go off of, and really this is your job as a player to tie your PC into the story & party. FYI, I'm not planning on thrusting Ferdinand into the scene mid-fight. I just did that with Barakor Aramalian, and while I was able to pull it off, having that happen again would be verging into slapstick comedy. We need to devise a more nuanced intro for Ferdinand. I'd recommend looking back over our Rogues Gallery of character sheets for commonalities... Fergus Fenris has a Soldier background, but his backstory presents him as a consummate wandering witcher from Skellige who was never part of a military unit. So...if Fenris wants to expound on his Soldier background and make some connection to your PC (vis a vis the Blue Stripes or another military unit like the Free Slopes), that's up to you guys to figure out.

... making it seem like they might become trolls at any moment. Even as some of you begin to press deeper into the fog, you can hear whispers in Elder Speech echoing from the fog in multiple directions, and the fog coils into surreal amorphous shapes, becoming more solid. Tendrils seem to grip at your appendages, sheaths, and cloaks, and wisps reminiscent of screaming skulls intermittently dart through the air. This is a lair action called Solid Fog (based on the old D&D spell), that causes the fog cloud to become difficult terrain for you, and causes any ranged weapon attacks to be automatic misses. Additionally, strong wind requires twice as long to disperse an area of Solid Fog (i.e. gust of wind requries concentration for a round to disperse it) or twice as much force (e.g. casting gust of wind with a higher level spell slot or something similar). He listens quietly as the group begins the verbal sparring that is inevitable when meeting another in such a hostile location, his only words a brief introduction: "I'm Vakeva Kiihko, Veridian." He nods as he greets Veridian, then returns to his slouch and guard duty. Vakeva would probably recognize the language as something spoken in the area some years (centuries) before The Wound. He was around when everything went south, right? I believe that leaves only Leif and Fenris?

...g from injuries. Hopefully we can get back on track! :) Again, my apologies for the delay. Btw, I've been reading more of the books for Beyond the Wall and there are lots of cool ideas there that *feel* right for the Witcher setting. Not that I want to change systems – I've already done a lot of work converting to 5e, and I have lots of good monster books for 5e now, but there is a lot about Beyond the Wall that fits the gritty setting assumptions of the Witcher. I'll try to pilfer some of the better ideas. If anyone would like to read more about it, feel free to PM me or pick up the books on DriveThru RPG. Several of the spells/cantrips/rituals, for example, *really* feel magical. Anyhow, maybe I can advance the scene to you guys ascending the hilltop toward the stone henge, trying to avoid the lumbering brute/ogre/troll? You have the cursed/transformed sorceress Margarita with you, so you could bring her along maybe? Let me know what you're planning Aramalian Azurewraith Fenris Queenie Shayuri ?

Meanwhile, down by the moonlit docks... Jacques' face contorts in confusion. "Monkey's? A kiss? What strange things boys concern themselves with." he thought. He placed a hand on Kat's shoulder as he turned to head toward the kitchen. He held up his index finger signaling 'one moment please.' Passing through the kitchen he and into the storage area he finds the worst fruit he possibly can, barely edible by human standards and returns to the boys. He nods to Kat as he returns with the fruit. "We should leave lest I have to whisper into children's ears now." he whisperes jokingly into her ear. Kat laughed in return at Jacques' comment and smirked at him. "Aye, let'sh be off." "Why don't you boys show us where this ribbon is, and if the fruit doesn't work, I have another idea." She gave Bella a scratch behind her ear as they walked out, more interested in seeing how these boys worked than anything else. Ok, I am looking at a cleric, war domain. Death and destruction. I figured the first gods were for the harvest, second for war. So those two areas are the last to die out. Warriors everywhere will always look for some help before a battle. And that gives a nicely rounded out party. So earyes, any particular pantheon you were planning on using? I can go with a generic War God if you like. Just trying to line up weapon and specific aspects of war. I usually play this world around 20 years in the future from where we are going to be playing and the God's are all dead and gone then, so I never really wrote a pantheon, feel free to use what ever best fits your character, it can be generic but if you want to pull from D&D or pathfinder help yourself.

No worries. If you are around I will get things rolling without a sheet. Although this week ended up being horrendously busy for us as well, and all the way through June 1 is crazy, so don't rush. I will try to get us started and that doesn't need a sheet. I'll be pretty much tied up until June 2nd myself. Meeting my co-author today on an academic paper we're writing, then all day appeal hearings tomorrow. Next week doesn't look much lighter, with student portfolio assessments on the docket. As non-tenured and not being able to say "No" to any requests, I wound up on all three committees that have work beyond the semester and into the summer.

Hi Gang, Ok, yes my bicep ripped off my bone and they had to drill into the bone to reattach it. But recovery hasn't been too bad. I even get to bend my elbow a little now! John better have done his taxes by now (let's hope) or he filed for an extension. So we need his character sheet up and for him to finish XP. I will be done with finals on the 9th. I have yet another court date on the 8th, Bella has surgery on the 11th, so that week is super super busy. SO I am setting a tentative start date as May 15th. Sorry for the delay folks but just two more weeks! i can't believe I missed this when it came up. I'm glad to hear the recovery isn't too bad considering the nastiness of the injury. May 15th is actually much sooner than I thought we'd be getting started again. I'm ready whenever you are!

What would Thorir know of Arvid's history. How much did Arvid tell him? That he is a jarl's son? Does he know his native land? How does Thorir see Arvid? A loyalist to Einar? A supporter of his father? Had they left on good terms? Just trying to establish how they will greet each other. Thorir was a Arvids pupil - both sons learned diplomacy and intrigue at his feet - Einar just took it more to heart while Thorir enjoyed martial diplomacy more. But Arvid did warn him about Einars change and not to return. I'd say they are familiar and close if not exactly friends. But with mutual respect. Enstranged by time maybe, but still... Thorir (or actually anyone) wouldn't know he's Jarls son, that would put a great target mark on him - he's 'Carefully Hidden' (trait). Yes, everyone knows his native land. Arvid is traditionalist and supports the old Jarl - only very rarely he calls Einar a jarl. Still using his first name in most encounters. He WOULD support Einar in any normal circumstance (as ...

I doubt you'd be bothering to write it out if it wasn't." The Captain turned her attentions back to the two standing with her while waiting for the very old man to answer. "There are crew left too that we could try, though Blackbeard only mentioned the Captain having whatever secret he is searching for." Kat tapped at her lips. "We definitely need more crew. A) Did we want to recruit other players for this module or just dive right in with the three of you (which I can easily do and would let us start more quickly and presumably post more quickly). I notified Steve about this thread. B) Secondly, I know the game has been going on a long time, and this is a query not a mandate, how does the group, and especially Jon feel about updating our rule system? I am quite enamored with 5E, I think the characters could be converted quite easily and it would make adding new characters easier. Thoughts? I would have to acquire some new books for that as I have not delved into 5th Edition at all yet, but I am flexible. As my friend Rick once said "Jon is never encumbered by the rules."
