Let me check... ok that is not what I had in mind. Doesn't look like a viable alternative to me. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, it looks interesting in its own right, just not a substitute. I kind of expected a more serious effort to have surfaced by now.

On the semantics side, Spanish needs more information to convey a message than English does. For example if you have to translate "I'm bad at studying and I could use your help." Which of the six possible constructs -each one with different meaning- should you use? You need a lot of contextual information to decide. That is more work than many translators bother to do. Some would only take the...

first you state Hollywood doesn't really do new movies then you quantified: ones that make lots of money. Now you say name an original non MCU/DC movie that broke 500 million. So, I'm starting to think you're moving the goal post.

I have another theory, Spanish translations require more work, some other languages don't. For other languages you can easily take the plain text in English and just straight translate it without paying too much attention to context. So the result is either a trainwreck that mixes/ignores gender/closeness/person or is more expensive. Many times this is done in Spain for videogames by people who...

I soon becomes clear that as long as you remain stealthy, you can navigate these tunnels with relative ease. The Vescavors that infest these tunnels are all newly hatched...

Personally, I found Ursula LeGuin a much more entertaining writer and they were contemporaries of one another. IMC the fine motor skills of Orcs is only quarter that of humans and as such their weapons and armour tend to be crude and ill formed. An Orc cleaver will certainly hurt when they're hacking in to your flesh, but theyre too cumbersome and rough for other races to use or want to purchase.

LIngua francas, koines and creoles exist. Indeed the English language is said by some to be a well established Koine Creole. I think you are correct that the gnome as presented in core DnD is a ill conceived mish mash that lacks a viable niche, but thats because no race in DnD is given a real culture. You could play most DnD characters as straight humans with the right stats and feats. So my two points of advice are YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHOE IN EVERY RACE. I've run campaigns with only Humans, Half-giants and Gnomes -...

RPGs live and die by their setting. Only D&D can afford to go "setting agnostic" (and that is barely) by virtue of its size and prominence. Without a strong setting a random RPG is but a set of bland mechanics, and if it's fantasy themed, it is just a heartbreaker. For identity purposes World of Darkness is Storyteller, Freedom City is M&M, and Golarion is Pathfinder. Yes, other settings can work...

it looks like Cameron's producing and has had a hand in the story, with Tim Miller directing it,whose directorial debut was Deadpool. The film's writing credits, as recognized by the Writers Guild of America are screenplay by David S. Goyer & Justin Rhodes and Billy Ray; story by James Cameron & Charles H. Eglee & Josh Friedman and Goyer & Rhodes.

Its what MCU is trying for. But the super intelligent , rich superhero would be Reed. But you are correct that they are giving that "vibe" to him.

It all depends on context, it isn't a clear cut black and white issue. In this particular context doesn't matter that badly. But for example, in 5e what's core and what isn't does matter. I still can't have an aasimar divine soul in AL for example, because neither is core! Core matters, some DMs play with core-only. Some groups demand core-only. Core classes/races receive more attention from...

On the boat ride Phar does his best not to stare at Hornauer's staff or mate though his is mightily curious about both. "Indeed, I could use a repast. And I would prefer to stay here with Aureus in any case." He turns to Quinten. "What do you have cooking? Enough for all?"

Use some of these stats http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/elemental/elemental-earth/small-earth-elemental/ But they are superseded by the animal companion chart here http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/animal-companions Things like saves, hit dice and bab come from the second link and are based on your level.

I dunno if this thread covers it, but one of the reasons I liked PF1 was it’s broad compatibility with 3.5 and 3.0. Not only adventures and monsters but even splatbooks and classes. In fact it was MORE important at the time. I looked at other games but it was among the best for backwards compatibility. PF2 in the playtest was far from that kind of ideal, as far as I could tell. And I haven’t...

Aha. The classic "my animal companion checks for traps" maneuver. Bonus: can be used after said companion is dead, too--provided the corpse is still somewhat intact.* Quote from a campaign I ran: "We throw the dead goat onto the suspect square (of the dungeon). Is there enough blood left in the corpse to run out (and outline that square)?" *This may not, in fact, be a Lawful Good...

Want a barbarian with class skills involving uncommon skills done (cooks are very popular in my games) 2) You can make any encounter memorable. Going up against goblins at 10th level? If they are ninjas with a psion leader...

Okay, so I'm at the point where I might be able to get this game going again. I know you guys have been waiting a while, and I want to find out if you're still up for continuing from where we left off. I likely will only once or twice a month so I don't burn out, but I, at least, want to give you guys a suitable ending to the game. Scott DeWar, I realize you probably won't be able to continue on, and that's okay. I'll take control of Quinn for you. I probably won't ask new players to join at this point unless the game builds steam and we all want to keep going. What do you guys think?

I have returned after a disappearance of over three years. Main reason was job stuff. I won’t bore you with the details. Binder Fred Deuce Traveler Kaodi Scotley Scott DeWar Shayuri I am not sure if anyone is even interested in Pathfinder First Edition. Most of what I see active are D&D 5e games. Since you six are all that is left of the players from my four Pathfinder games, I thought I would check with you six first. Give you a choice to see if you might be interested in playing an Adventure Path for Pathfinder 1E. Right now I am thinking of running “Return of the Runelords”. I don’t want any character thoughts at this moment. Just a simple yes or no if you are interested in playing in such a thing. It really would be hard to pick up with any of the original games as they were all in the midst of the action and we only have part of each group still active on EN World. ...None of it is wasted. The wererat's rhino hide armor likely originated from the Northlands, although the wererat's features don't mark him as a Northerner. More than likely he stole it or killed its original owner. Note that on Kulan, Pleistocene megafauna still exist throughout the world, although the numbers of these animals aren't as substantial as normal animals. Harqual, however, is one of the few continent's of the world with more numerous types of megafauna that once existed on North America (and a few key choices from Eurasia and South America -- thus the woolly rhino). This includes american lions & cheetahs, camelops, dire wolves, giant beavers, giant polar bears, giant sloths, glyptodons, mammoths & mastodons, short-faced bears, smilodon, stag-moose, etc. :D Direct link to Caerth's PC sheet on the RG: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?250956-Rogues-Gallery-Aerie-of-the-Crow-God-PbP-Campaign!&p=6341042&viewfull=1#post6341042 ================================ Scott DeWar: FYI, I'm going to post another reply specifically for Quinn. Okay, here's a map. Vakeva Kiihko is marked 'K to avoid confusion with Viridian who is marked with a V. The B is the newly summoned Demon. G1 is the Ghoul entangled by Thorn (T), While G3 is the retreating Ghoul pursued by Viridian. The Summoner/Priest Ghoul is G2. B for Banaq, D for Denir (currently npc'd) and M for Meliara (currently npc'd as well) I put Fatoon and Adrian at edge of the map just at the top of the stairs and since I had room used full names. If you want to join now Scott DeWar we'll assume your character, Voorgan Komkoski, is stage left just behind Adrian. If not, then still downstairs with the army. Since I'm all out of V's and K's for the map would you prefer to be D for DeWar, W for Wizard, T for transmuter? Something else? Had I been more prescient I'd have started out referring to Neurotic's charater by his Kobold name, Claugendeem Calaun, but he was introduced as Viridan, so we'll let it stand. D2 is the ruined stable already explored by Vir.

My character Fatoon will have come by boat first and then overland to the area, with the intention of aiding those fighting demons. Fatoon has had experience fighting devils. I'm open to just falling into a random group along the way that includes the three. If you are some kind of fighter, would you be willing to be a bodyguard? To a self-appointed saviour of priestly might :) Of course, given my story and current location, you could be a prisoner too :) Unless our DM decides we just caught up with the army and came looking for the leaders... Will you post the character to RG? Do you have any suggestion how we got here? Same question to Scott DeWar If I'm not alone it may be a stretch that we're all prisoners, but given the opposition, maybe not so far fetched... There is some equipment on the grounds which may be ours (but that robs others of fair loot) - maybe better if we just caught up with the army (or return back from advance scouting since we saw the camp fires ?)

History (character background) is up - a bit epic and the guy is lucky to be alive and all, but then again, Desna is goddess of Fate, Luck and Dreams... Okay, we will have 3 new characters to introduce shortly. As GM it would be my preference that you collaborate on your reasons and arrive together. The army was easy enough to follow. Lou Scott DeWar

Viridian walks calmly, safe distance from Thorn. His small stature and wings help him navigate treacherous steps much more easily and he pays attention to wiry human in case it slips again. "I need to find out which ones are egg keepers and which are hunters." he thinks to himself. As Thorn joins her companions, he stays comfortable distance from the group and calls out to them presenting his arms with claws sheathed as before. "Strangers! i present myself as Claugendeem Calaun of the clan Claug Atar! Thy kind hath called mine own ruler Viridian Queen, thus thee may calleth me Viridian! I cometh in peace to parley. So, just for clarification, there is no one more qualified to wield cruel justice other than Aureus. And he is a Sentient lawful-good adamantine Scimitar? Any other properties I missed? The weapon is lawful neutral not LG, and, yes, I would say that Aureus is the most qualified to use the weapon. Quinn, being a neutral fighter, would be the next best choice, but there would be mental clashes about the rigidity of law over chaos depending on how Scott DeWar wishes to handle Quinn's morality. Plus, Aureus was the only character that didn't succumb to Cruel Justice's detect thoughts ability when they first discovered the blade. • 08:50 PM - Knightfall quoted Scott DeWar in post Knightfall's Aerie of the Crow God [Kulan] (IC)
Phar keeps his own council as the issues discussed are not directly his. He does nod in approval however and once the maps are available he rejoins the conversation. "This is most helpful, but Hornauer is no sage of threats." "Death?" "Bad?" "Big Bug?" He frowns in disgust as the lack of scholarship offends his sensibilities. "And Book? That could be very interesting, but how many? What kind. Nothing for it to go and see for ourselves. At least we are forewarned." yes, we sure know about that bug. what troubles me is the room next to the rooks labeled eggs. I don't think those are chicken eggs. "Hornauer did say that his ratwere lady created them," Aureus notes over Phar's shoulder. "She may have a very literal mind. And yes, I think eggs are rook hatchlings." Caerth frowns, then moves over. A bit more rude than he intends, the half-orc demands to see the map. "Must be rook eggs. Underground nests? Those are certainly not natural," he mutters before handing the map back to Quinn. The m...

    ...who in his right mind steals laundry? Wait, I think I answered my own question there. Someone not in his right mind. That stinks, good luck! gerrrrrr! :mad::mad::mad: Sorry to hear that. Very annoying I'm sure. He must be way more fashionable than my dad...or me for that matter. It turned out that dad had left his laundry in the washer; he'd thought he'd put it in the dryer but hadn't actually done it. :p His memory is iffy, sometimes. :( Anyway, I had dinner out with him, my aunts, and my sister tonight. They're all doing stuff tomorrow, but I need a day to myself. So, I'm going to finally start working on my next reply. Hopefully I will get it done and up, as the next few days afterwards are busy. It will get up sometime this week. {Knock on wood.}

Terry Pratchett May decry pledgerism from the Shannarah Chronicles. Okay, first of all, Terry Pratchett wouldn't care anything about it, because he wrote different books: The Colour of Magic, Wyrd Sisters, Discworld, etc. You're thinking of Terry Brooks. Secondly, it's not plagiarism to be inspired by an author's works and create a new character based on existing one. Truthfully, I hadn't even considered Allanon when I thought about this character. I did read Sword of Shannara again last year, but my character would be very different from Allanon.

"Caerth, perhaps we should keep our present promise to Hornauer, get supplies for an extended trip below and return in stealth." Caerth is pleased that Balorix asks him for permission directly, even though he realizes this is not about him. Still, the proud half-orc shows himself to be satisfied with this outcome. "I have promised Hornauer we will not harm him or his brood, and them leaving makes sure we can keep that promise without breaking the one to the Lady. So that is what we do first," he says, trying to sound like a leader instead of just a guy from the woods. Aureus nods her head in agreement and even Elijah relaxes, a little. Sir Balorix seems content with Caerth's decision while Sir Ghal shifts his feet, uncomfortably. Balorix notes the knight's uncertainty and puts his hand on his shoulder. The young knight sighs and nods his head. Keeping his eyes on Balorix, the druid hesitates for a moment. By the sound of it, there are a lot of cultists down there, and they worship a can...

Caerth listens and watches everyone intently. He is sceptical of everything Ghal and Balorix say, but he listens nonetheless. Trouble between a wererat and his former nestmates seems a small thing, even if they bring along their lycanthropic afflection. Hornauer seemingly ready to depart of his own intent, good, that would mean not breaking a promise. Cultists of some demonic crow deity... ”Wait,” says the half-orc suddenly, ”They worship a crow and yet they stay below the earth? What madness is that?” "No idea," Hornauer replies. "And I never felt like intorducing myself to them. The seem to accept my brood as a simple fact of life and I've kept my dire rats away from them. They aren't aware of me or my mate's presence here. I'm certain of that," he nods his head. "Well, I'm fairly certain they aren't aware of us." "So, you are not their ally," Aureus notes. "That's good." "There is no way that I'd align myself with crazy demon worshiping cannibals." "C-cannibals..." Elijah says ...
