You aren’t really in the dark, at least on this level of the tower with the big windows. The light is Dim, so if you don’t have Darkvision you will be at Disadvantage for Perception and Investigation unless you get a light source. Once you leave the top level into the tower below, you will be in the Dark, so all Perception will be at Disadvantage. 2. Yes, spell slots gained from leveling up, as well as the new hit points, are available. As Theremin and Mindra made their way down the stairs, they heard what sounded like panicked screaming. As they descended, they found they were leaving the light behind “Kobolds found ghost,” Sayine said, interpreting the Draconic for Theremin. They could see that the stairs opened into another door closed door below. Mord & Primus vs Troll2 Mord blasted eldritch energy at the Troll and retreated back down the circular corridor, only to spot Lorenn come gliding down the gradual slope, pursued by a few kobolds. Primus rummaged through the Troll's unimpressive mind, cutting thoughts and memories at random. The troll bellowed, confused by its aching head. It lashed out in all directions, biting Kalorn and scratching at Sesto and Loklafd with its claws. I'll try to get this round done by the end of tomorrow. @Charwoman Gene, if you're around take two turns ASAP! @tglassy, Surely Mind Thrust doesn't do d20's for damage, does it? ...n's illusion to fire eldritch energy at the second troll as Sesto struck it in the knee with his mace. The troll howled and was struck by the eldritch bolt. It elbowed aside Sesto's flying spectral mace as it ducked Mord's second bolt. Deciding that the illusion was no longer effectively aiding him, Mord moved out into the circular tunnel. He saw Sooty flying down from the gradual slope up toward they way they had entered, and he could hear the sound of Lorenn fighting the kobolds that Kalorn described. The last of the Trolls seemed reluctant to slide down the steep slope with a fighting crowd at the bottom, so it tore another chunk of ice off of the wall and hurled it at Kalorn. The ceiling sloped as well, so throwing the hunk of ice over the other troll without striking the ceiling was difficult, and this time the troll failed to do so - the hunk of ice struck the overhang and crashed to the ground behind Kalorn, skidding to a stop near Primus. I'm gonna roll the round over. Charwoman Gene Alhana hasn't gone, so take two turns when you get the chance. Unknown location/Tower Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/12:18 PM Weather: Chilly temps, light wind, light rain Round 0 Theremin can't recall anything. As the heroes debate whether to rest or not, a shimmering begins in the air above the body of the slain kobold sorcerer. It coalesces into the image of the kobold, whole, and without the white blemishes. The form is wavering and insubstantial as it moves. The vision said something in a language the heroes couldn’t understand, looking to the south, toward what had been the Cold Forest. Sayine whispered in Theremin’s ear, translating the Draconic, “She said, ‘Free at last!’” Charwoman Gene Lord Twig Steve Gorak tglassy Combat Map: Player Overview Map: [sblock=Status] Coriana (+2) AC 15 24/24+5 thp PP 14 Liam (+2) AC 14 14/18 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Mindra (+4) AC 15 6/19 Unconscious, stable PP 18 Darkvision Theremin (+5) AC 15 5/19 PP 14 Darkvision Sayine (+5) AC 15 8/14 PP 13 Darkvision, Breath, Spells (Yellow, 1/d): dancing lights, mage hand, minor illusion, color spray*, mirror image* Engir AC 15 30/64 6r to engage characters again. ...he effort as, even wounded, they refused to fall. Instead they were amazingly well organised as they thrust their spears at him. He was quickly forced to throw up a magical shield as their spear lunges quickly overwhelmed his ability to parry. Even with the shield up, a lucky sling stone struck him in the leg as some of the other kobolds made their way through the burning webs. The alchemist continued to work at burning the web away as one of the armoured kobolds broke free of the webs and moved to cover him while he burnt the other free. A kobold sorcerer came out of the side tunnel and watched as Eko distracted Lorenn's opponents. Cleverly spotting that Lorenn would be a difficult target with his shield up, the sorcerer sent a bolt of fire hurtling at the owl familiar and Eko burst into flames. The other kobolds cautiously approached the tunnel where the battle raged. Damn that took me a long time. I'll try to get back ASAP to deal with everyone else. ...lly temps, light wind, light rain Round 0 Liam looked out over a rather dark, desolate landscape. Where once the green grass of late summer had waved in a warm breeze, the air was cold and dry and the grass gray. The trees of the Ravesnwood and Cold Wood had either lifeless branches or brown, dead leaves rustling like bones in the light rain, the wind sounding like moaning voices, giving it a dead and haunted aspect. The road still stretched to the distance, but it was broken and uneven, desolate. The sky was cloudless, but there was no sun, merely a diffuse lightness that made it dull grey. The tower itself seemed much as it had been before, but now it was whole, and made of a dark obsidian stone, as black as night. It was also free standing, with no hint of the other outbuildings they had seen before. The wall surrounding the tower as complete, the same black stone, with strong, black gates closed shut. The entire construction seemed more angular, sharper, more...sinister. ...ward Primus. As it did it began to shake its head from side to side, as if something was bothering it's ears. Perhaps it was the trickle of blue blood coming from one of them as Primus hurt the Troll's mind. Still, on it came, taking a glancing blow from one of Kalorn's eldritch blasts. Sesto's glowing mace appeared, and it swung at the troll, but the creature brushed it aside as it lunged forward, avoiding Sesto's scorching light while it took a mighty swipe with its claws at Primus. The mystic tried to shield himself, but the blow was struck. To avoid the troll's follow-up, Primus shimmered and disappeared, reappearing at the bottom of the ice-ramp while the troll swished his claws and fangs through a fading image of the man who had just been there. I'm pretty sure that's basically how Primus' TP works. Increases his AC to 20 on a hit, which might turn it into a miss (in this case no) and then TP 20' away. Right? Also: Anyone seen Gene anywhere? (I will move on soon either way). @Charwoman Gene Damage Taken: (BGs) Troll1 21 (Primus' Mind Thrust) & 1 (Kalorn EB); (PCs) Primus 18 & he teleports so the others miss; (NPCs) None IT1 Int Save vs Primus 1d20-2: 7 [1d20=9] IT1 Dex Save vs Sesto 1d20+1: 17 [1d20=16] IT1 Claw Claw Bite vs Primus 3#1d20+7: 3 # 27 [1d20=20] 17 [1d20=10] 19 [1d20=12] 2#2d6+4: 2 # 12 [2d6=5, 3] 10 [2d6=5, 1] 1d6+4: 6 [1d6=2] Crit. ...d 0 Mindra’s death fail went away when she was stabilized, however briefly. When she went down. So her nat 1 would put her at 2, and then Liam stabilized her again, so we won’t kill her off just yet. Or did I miss something? Unless you’re wanting a new character! Did Theramin use the Potion of Healing he found in the cart? I can’t recall. And right. Forgot about Liam’s blindness retcon. That’s fine. Also, I need to retcon something a bit. Sayine didn’t knock the black ball off the pedestal, since the ball, and the mysterious box, didn’t make the trip to wherever you are now at. Also, the big boulder that was in the room is gone, and the tower is more or less whole, though the stone seems...darker. All that is in the room is the big table marked with the arcane runes. The bodies of the kobold sorceress and her ambush drakes are still in the room, as well. And you can hear panic from what sounds like more kobolds coming from below. So just let me know what you want to do. Her wings stretched out, knocking the black stone ball from the pedestal, sending it rolling with a clatter off the table. Constitution save: 1d20+1 15 “Oh!” Sayine exclaimed, blinking as her vision cleared. “I can see again! Yee!” she cheered excitedly. She crawled over to Theremin and licked his face. “Mindra needs help. She hurt!” she told him, looking at the unconscious and bleeding elf. “Where are we? Why it so cold?” Indeed, a chilly breeze blew through the open windows of the tower, definitely not the late summer warmth of a few minutes ago. DC 14 Con now to recover blindness. Liam is immune to that already, I guess LOL And Mindra should make a Death Save (she has 1 Fail). Sayine will Help and provide Advantage to a Medicine check to stabilize her. Those adventures shouldn’t give you a particular advantage in this chapter. But the PCs’ previous exploits are what brought them to Lady Vord’s attention, and her mysterious invitation and her offer of a healthy payment have drawn the PCs to this, their latest mission. When this adventure begins, the PCs have been summoned to a meeting in the trade town of Kelmarane in the nation of Katapesh. Overrun years ago by bandits, gnolls, and slavers, the town spent most of its recent history in ruins. Within the last year, the town was reclaimed by adventurers and is now well on its way to seizing its original mantle as a prosperous trading post. While several buildings in town remain in ruins, numerous work crews toil at repairing the major structures, while canvas roofs on smaller buildings provide temporary lodgings. It’s in one of the larger buildings, an ancient church, that the P...

He built his wizard tower on the old family estate east of Bredonshire in 675. The estate collapsed mostly due to neglect, but the tower remained, though no one knows what happened to Eobold, as the Sheriff of Bredon and the Count of Oldhold lost contact with the mad mage. The tower lay abandoned and rumor-haunted until 842 when Essess rebelled against the Empire. Sir Ghaves Ledet and his friend the mage Ebrehem Caravon garrisoned the tower, along with a company of elves led by Silvor Dawnwhisper. Ebrehem and his apprentice Iarno Albarek attempted to unlock the tower’s secrets. While Ledet was off fighting a Helveki force in the Ravenswood (Cragmaw Castle), Eobald’s Tower was besieged by an Arideen force. To this day, no one knows what happened to the two armies, and the tower has lain abandoned as cursed. I think, the labels are ambiguous) I'm aiming for both blooded orcs and the warchief. Yes, sorry, I had them lined up then did some stuff that screwed up the map. I will try something different next time that should make the alignment better.

"Which dwarf? Dale or the armored ones?" Leonan slaps his forehead. "Armored ones, of course. We need to cut the connection (if any) to the source of this...this...mental fog. Maybe we can find out something. Assuming he isn't completely lost his mind."

I'm just having trouble engaging Alhana into the conversation. I'm following along and am still interested in where things are going.I'll try again soon - I think that I have a decent question/comment from Kalorn to Alhena once we are on our way.

D&D uses imperial tons. D&D coins are 50 per pound. 10 tons copper = 20,000 pounds = 1,000,000 cp = 10,000 gp so exactly enough. Throw in some good haggling and we acheive profit. After traveling through a thief infested city with 10,000 gp.Those are some big coins! Although I do remember that value now that you mention it... did it change in 5e?

"Most potions are only identifiable through taste, I'm willing to try.""Don't be daft!" Templeton admonished. "Yew dwarves may have hardy dispositions and iron stomachs...but tasting' and mixin' potions will getcha kilt!" He took a look at the clear vials. "These here be crystal clear as water." He then looked at the one with a bead. "Da udder be some sorta size changin..." Ooc: Religion check on the clear ones?

Skill modifier = ability modifier + proficiency modifier + circumstance bonus + conditional bonus + item bonus + circumstance penalty + conditional penalty + item penalty + untyped penalties Just found out the important part of this, pg 292. Multiple item, circumstance, and conditions bonuses do no stack. You only take the best one of each. The penalties do not stack either you have at most one circumstance bonus and one circumstance penalty, one condition bonus and one condition penalty, and one item bonus and one item penalty. That's interesting.

Skill modifier = ability modifier + proficiency modifier + circumstance bonus + conditional bonus + item bonus + circumstance penalty + conditional penalty + item penalty + untyped penalties The first two (and item where applicable) are the only ones that end up on the character sheet.

"I fail to see why we shouldn't just charge right up through the open gates to the stock yard." "Because we don't want to wallow in mud with pigs? But I agree in general, we shouldn't really wait for them to find us. This is obviously new building and it serves some purpose for them. We destroy it. Kill as many as we can. And when the rest come running toward the smoke, we go around and scout deeper into their territory. And we can pick up stragglers as we return. What can go wrong?" Ordrar smiles hefting his hammer.

She could be fairly local. Her homeland is kinda not specified, so I suppose she could come from some local elven society.I see. Please feel free to read my and Fradak 's backgrounds. You could be somehow related, or have an opinion, on either character - elven matters and all that jazz :) Edit: even tglassy has elven connections

So I decided to go with the Arcane Archer, just posted her to the RGOoooh. So we have an exile, a misfit and a rebel, all with elven blood? Fantastic! :D Was your character born in the area? I saw mention of Neverwinter.
