Core yes. But I'm talking core, and splats, and PO, and that's not even getting into supplements. That was a problem for me BitD when I didn't have enough experience to balance and customize things properly. These days, I can handle that better, but much of what I want to do 3e does already.

My current game is 2e having last played 3e and some PF previously. I'm reminded of just why I went fully over to 3e BitD. 2e has a lot of great ideas, but the rules, well they have problems. 1e has a lot of passionate fans, and I think it's because the early edition is fairly consistent, largely being under Gary's direction. From some of the discussions I've seen over on Dragonsfoot, the...

  • 02:03 PM - Coroc mentioned Ranger REG in post XGTE has the Samurai Subclass
Ranger REG but then they Need some more "eastern" subclasses. Generally it is strange that they did not do so already, all the stuff looted from other campaign worlds and put into Toril but the things that were there from the start have not been mentioned.

  • 03:27 AM - BacchusNL quoted Ranger REG in post "How do I beat the Matt Mercer effect?"
Sounds like an age-old problem. Even BEFORE the popularity of CR and Matt Mercer, players have certain expectations of their DM. And yeah, it puts a lot of burden for the DM. It's a thankless job, IMNSHO. The only enjoyment one gets from being a DM is that you manage to keep your players entertained... for that one session/night. And you have to do it all over again the next session. If that is the case then I feel kinda sorry for the DM tbh. Both in my regular playgroup and the wendsday night one-shots I play in its super rare for people not to thank the DM after a session.

  • 03:23 AM - redrick quoted Ranger REG in post Kate Welch is WotC's New D&D Designer
Congrats. I have but one question: Besides 5e, what other editions do you also like to play or have enjoyed playing? Who is "you"? Are we role-playing an interview? DM: Kate Welch steps into the room and sits down. "Thanks for agreeing to interview me for this position, internet forum. Wizards has already offered me the job, but it's important for me to get your approval before I actually move into my office." PLAYER 1: Ok, so my character is going to stay standing. They're going to nod as Kate walks in and then give a tight lipped smile. "Congrats on getting the job." Then they're going to lean forward and put their hands on the table in front of us. "I have but one question. Besides 5e, what other editions do you also like to play or have enjoyed playing?" DM: Ok, roll for, umm, Intimidate? PLAYER 1: Can I use my proficiency in Performance? Because of the way I put my hands on the table in a dramatic way? I actually don't have Intimidate.
