...steps onto the raft, taking the pole from Wat who had taken it from Zuri, and pushes off. When you are well out into the lake, a thunderous voice shouts, 'This island's mine, fools! Soryth and I have already won!" On the shore you just left, a male pixie in blue robes flies just above the grass. Over him floats the shadowy image of a fanged man with large horns. The image looks as if it is sculpted of dark smoke. To the pixie, the fiendish vision says, "Kalbon, master of this isle, commands you into battle, slave. Summon your winds. Crush these intruders, then bring me Orlando." The face looks like it might continue its rant, but as the pixie moves over the water, the air shimmers. Like smoke on an unseen wind, the foul vision fades. "Yes," is all the pixie says. Four small water spouts erupt near him and move forward like predatory beasts. Roll initiative! Btw, does someone want to NPC Rava? CrimsonFlameWielder hasn't posted in over two weeks, so I suspect that we lost him. If he shows up, great. But, PBP is slow enough with someone not posting for half a month and I am totally ok with someone taking over Rava until he shows back up.

Whoops! Sorry for my absence, CFW and Voda and co-players. Christmas was busy busy, and my computer is only kind of working. I'm working on getting a new one but until I do my posting will spottier than usual. Sorry again- spotty posting is an understatement. My computer is only kind of working, and a move coinciding with a total lack of business means I'm way too broke to replace it and too busy to use a public one. Posting from my phone now. I keep trying to post with my computer and it crashes before I can. Posting turns from my phone is too cumbersome. Please NPC me as necessary til I can post again CrimsonFlameWielder and Voda Vosa . Sorry again, and thanks.

@CrimsonFlameWielder By my count Gray just reached level 3 with 2396 xp; if you want to retire him I think announcing that now is a good time. The xp totals have all been worked out and adjusted with time gold and xp on the first page. I don't know what you have to do exactly to make that oficial, but get whatever you have to have done, done and get your new character up and ready and I'll give it a check when you are ready, and we can continue. That should buy me enough time to get the next little bit of prep done. I'm going to be very busy over the next little while as I begin a new job in teaching. My posting rate may drop off for a while. I'll work Gray's exit from the story and the new PC's entrance as well as possible when the time comes.

Nemesis Destiny Roll an acrobatics check for Sabynha Neil1889 Roll an acrobatics/athletics check for Rain Son of Meepo Thanks. Corrected. No roll needed for Wat obviously. CrimsonFlameWielder I will move on some time later this afternoon. IF you want to have Gray participate in any special way let me know, otherwise I will just have him be enjoying the festivities in a generic way (which is what I am imagining for Zuri.

I think we are waiting for an update from CrimsonFlameWielder at this point
  • 07:58 AM - jbear mentioned CrimsonFlameWielder in post [Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)
It's not updated. The mini stats I posted are her updated stats. Edit: in order to hopefully get things moving I'm going to update the round so far. Mid Round Update Rain uses her second wind, marks pixie 3 with her Aegis of Shielding and moves to strike the hamadryad for 10 non lethal dmg Wat coaxes the small unicorn to head south, which it does: SU has 2/3 successes Wat then blasts at the pixies striking pixie 2 for 18 dmg Sabynha challenges the small unicorn to run on as fast as it can, which it does: SU Complete: 3/3! Heading at a gallop across the 'border' Sabynha impresses the large unicorn with her moves and then successfully mounts LU has 2/3 successes Gray is KO Zuri to act At this stage everything has happened nearly simultaneously, so I don't want to go into the consequences of this rounds actions until Zuri has acted, as it is happening simultaneously so she isn't yet affected by those consequences (to your advantage at this stage). CrimsonFlameWielder I'll post Zuri's mini stats below; I think it is enough info to run her off. Wat: 32/32 hps Rain: 31/37 hps (6 non lethal dmg); Second Wind: +2 defense TENT Sabynha: 33/33 hps Zuri: 29/29 hps Gray: -27/27 hps; TKO (non-lethal dmg) Nymph (Hamadryad) 10 non lethal dmg Used Spellbinding Beauty (recharge 5) Pixie 1 used Fey Shot (recharge 5) Pixie 2 used Fey Shot (recharge 5) 18 dmg Pixie 3 used Fey Shot (recharge 5) Marked by Aegis (Rain) SU 3/3 successes LU 2/3 Success; mounted by Sabynha Nymph (Hamadryad) AC 17 F/R/W 14/15/16 Pixies AC 16 F/R/W 13/15/14 Unicorns AC 18 F/R/W 16/17/15 Boulders: 5ft high; DC 9 athletics to climb; Blocking Terrain Fruit Bushes: These plants are difficult terrain, and bush squares are lightly obscured. • 11:00 PM - KarinsDad quoted CrimsonFlameWielder in post Adventure: Escort Duty (DM: KarinsDad, Judge: TBD)
Rava was beginning to get a bit suspicious of the random, unescorted travelers. People don't just walk into a room full of armed mercenaries, thugs, warriors, etc, asking for an escort, if they don't have good reason to suspect that the escort may be needed. Either that, or every volunteer in this group should have the word SUCKER tatoo'd on their forehead for so easily falling into a trap. She didn't have specific evidence against Jasper's involvement in such a situation, but she wasn't about to walk willy-nilly into a trap either. She kept a weather eye on Jasper's looks, reactions, and mannerisms as the woman stepped aside to let them pass. Just as an aside, could we keep the "tactical thought conversations" to a minimum? Nobody else can hear what Rava is thinking (unless Hilkalas is setting up a mind link), so observations, ideas, and suspicions that are not spoken aloud shouldn't be relayed to other players. If you need to express private thoughts, figure out a way to get Hilkalas to hel...

"Excuse me, good sir. I was wondering... did you happen to encounter or see any bandits on the road today on your way here? Our employer here is worried that we will encounter such an obstacle on our way. With the current state of the land, do you not feel the need, also, to have some form of escort?" she asked the man guiding his mule. "Bandits? No, ain't seen no bandits." the man replies a bit cautiously as the two groups get closer. He pulls his mule further from the well armed group, watching them carefully, the drizzle pooling in his hat and pouring off the side.

From my previous experiences playing Kalashtar characters (not in this PbP so the rules may differ), the telepathy that a Kalashtar has (without the use of the Group Mindlink feat) only the ability for 1 on 1 contact with another being, though that one being can respond mentally to you (and only you). This is correct, with Group Mindlink, you can talk to everyone within 5 otherwise it's one-on-one, unless you take time to say the same thing to everyone around you.

Although he had only been in the Hanged Man for a short while, he wasn't anywhere near done to venting his frustration with the bandits who had got in his way over at the d'Argent manor, and blasting some bugs might not be a bad thing. "Just gold?" he queried the two kobolds. "I prefer items of a magical nature as rewards for my services, but I suppose gold will do. What kind of bugs are we talking about here, and how many of them are there? Also, I need this guy here to read my tome for a few minutes before I come along with you...but so help me if you don't make this worth my while...I'll let It take over...and believe me when I say that there won't be much village left for saving if that happens..." As Malakai says It, his eyes flare molten red and slowly fade back to their normal color. Both kobolds cringe at Malakai's words. Tak responds, "You hurt village?!" She looks at her companion and whispers, "Deemus, say something!" The male kobold nods and then says to Malakai, "You... uh... T...

More XP? Well hell... twist my arm why don't you ;) Pacifist cleric it is! Actually, you can play whatever you like. If we do not have a healer, that's totally ok.

Yaknow... I have 2 strikers in L4W...I think I'm going to switch Blehn Dir out for a Leader. I've been wanting to try out a pacifist cleric. I'll post him or her by Monday :) I'll make Blehn my 2nd character for LEB... Up to you. With a major healer in the group, it just means that I up the difficulty accordingly and everyone gets more XP. ;)

"And that is no discounting of your skills at all, good dwarf. Knowledge can be discovered by many people in many different ways, and a different perspective is always appreciated. So I'll take you up on your offer as well...when you have the time." Flervin sits up a bit more, and with a jovial tone in his voice. "But of course, I am willing to offer my services to any who desire a hand. I shall continue my current task while Master Sheng has a look. Upon completion, I shall see if I can appraise any new information for you, Warlock." Anyone privy to his actions can tell Flervin is sincere in his offer.

Lilli is enthusiastic, "Oh, certainly, I could draw you up a list of the more basic runes for you to start with and their meanings and uses in Allarian (which I hope you can read). I learned how to read the dwarven language through a study of a dwarven scholar's religious manuscript, Patriarch Mordinion’s Treatise on Religious Affections in the Age of the Isles, which though incredibly informative, was sometimes quite a daunting read." Attempting to conceal his excitement to learn something new, Flervin replies; "That would be much appreciated, and I shall do the same for you, friend." Flervin pulls out a piece of parchment and a quill to begin his task when his attention is pulled away by Malakai. "You seem to be quite the intellectual student. Would you perhaps know anything about decoding manuscripts of an arcane nature? I would be so pleased if you could assist me with this tome I was given by my mentor. He never got the chance to teach me anything about it, but I would very much like...

@treex: Since you're back, and you've been back for a good while now with little (I'm just speculating here) chance of disappearing again, why don't you talk to jbear about rejoining A Call for Lovers with Themes? We recently lost Zuri, who has been NPC'd for the last few weeks. You may be able to convince jbear to let Themes back in (I thought he was really interesting anyway, and was sad to see him leave the adventure right after the awesome pirate stuff just before my character Gray joined the group (who I have now replaced with Shandra...in case you get back in and start reading the addy). Well, honestly, between me and myself, I was actually quite dissapointed with my level of play with him, I didn't think I made a very good pirate. But I'm pleasantly surprised that you liked him. I'll shoot jbear a PM, and try to get Themes back in.

Then in that case, a 15 is not a success. If Joy manages to roll a 17 on her Athletics check, that will bump your total up to 17, in which case you both stay at buffer 3, otherwise, you will both drop back to buffer 2. Joy flinched as the strange insectoid reached out for her- while it was only a momentary stumbel, the timing could hardly have been worse... >Athletics 1d20+9= 16; roll http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3908795/ This is just a straight Athletics check- not sure if any other modifiers apply this round.

  • 08:05 PM - VanderLegion quoted CrimsonFlameWielder in post [ooc] He Chained Their Minds
@VanderLegion: If I remember correctly (totally possible that I'm not), Ignatz took his turn before you did in Round 2, when he granted said +4 bonus. If so, then that +4 bonus applied to the athletics roll you made in Round 2, just after he used Pixie Dust on Kane. If I'm wrong and Ignatz went after you did in round 2, then I'll apply that +4 bonus to round 3's athletics check for Vander. Super busy at work right now, so I can't take a look, but if you want to go ahead and take a look for me and report back with your findings, we'll add the +4 bonus where it is supposed to go. In round 2, Ignatz hit a bunch of the guys chasing us with the tree, giving us all a +4 bonus for round 3. Then in round 3, he went just before me delayed the rock wall the gnome's were putting up, giving everyone else another +4 bonus. I included the +4 bonus from the tree in my roll, but didn't know when I posted (since I posted after ignatz but before you) that I got another +4 bonus from the rock wall, so the 23 I rolled...

  • 02:10 AM - Son of Meepo quoted CrimsonFlameWielder in post [Proposal] Revamp Approvals (Again)
PROPOSAL 1a: I wouldn't automatically approve all characters that have 1 approval in the queue. I would simply say that those characters with only one approval would need to meet the 2 of 3 guidelines mentioned in proposal 1, once they were in an adventure. Especially since we're allowed to adventure without approval anyway, the only thing that would be removed from the process is the idea that we can't earn XP/treasure until approved. So here's where I'm coming from with this. I spent a few days approving about 2 or so characters in the queue. Most of those still need a second approval. It took them months to get one. How long before someone else comes and looks at them? Personally I have a character that is stuck at the end of an adventure still needing a senior review. Unless a senior reviewer comes around, this character is in limbo. I also have my character (and my wife's) that are in your adventure needing 2 reviews. I can't review my wife's character because I manage the sheet for her...

  • 04:36 PM - Phoenix8008 quoted CrimsonFlameWielder in post OOC tread of "The Broken Tower"
I think treex's thought process is like this: Goblin A walks into, or is slid/pushed/pulled onto a yellow square. This causes the floor to make an attack against the goblin's reflex. If the attack hits, the goblin falls to the floor below. If it misses, then the goblin gets to move to the side on a stable square. BUT... should a goblin even GET the chance to move to the side if it falls onto one of those squares from a height (due to crashing right through the unstable flooring... since it would be kind of tough to move to the side in mid air in an uncontrolled fall)? This would be great to know as Arshaka was planning on trying the same thing. If he can pull one of the two goblins up on the platform forward to drop them off the front edge, he's gonna do it. Especially now that he knows the floor may break right through. I understand they'll still get the save to avoid falling off the edge of the platform, but knowing what happens after that for sure would be cool.
  • 04:11 AM - jbear quoted CrimsonFlameWielder in post [Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)
We all took a long rest in the Gnome Tree before heading out to see Robyn if I'm not mistaken. So that should mean that Gray was back up to 7/7 healing surges, right? CFW that is correct. You all began the encounter at full HPs and with 1 AP, and all daily powers. Nemesis Destiny Have a go at it; convince me that she does something suitably intimidating. Wat just used a pretty darn intimidating Daily, so riding on the shirt tails of that, I can be convinced :) Pixie 1 has fled; unfortunately as he is stunned the fleeing is in his head! SO no chain reaction of crumbling morale just yet.

Phoenix8008 : You can use Telekinetic Leap on someone within 2 buffers of yourself. Because this is a move action on your part that gives someone else a flying movement of 5 on YOUR turn... that is about the equivallent of a +5 bonus to speed on their part. That means that they will NOT get a +4 bonus to athletics.... they'll get a +10 bonus to athletics! I forgot that it was a +2 bonus for each 1 movement. Thanks for the reminder. Hopefully Vander won't need the help (since he's the only one left to go this round) and I can save that power for later if it's really needed, but its there if needed.
