1E adventures were harder. 2E adventures were narrative heavy. Not many were actually good and most of them are in Dungeon.

4E the main problem IMHO was the class/role design or the 4E playstyle it enabled. A lot if 4E stuff would work fine in other D&D games.

1E may be deadlier due to adventure design but if you designed like that in 2E you would be just as dead.

Yeah Lenders are more or less the worst race ever. Never really like DL as a Gameworld and it's a bit meh in terms of novels, way to hit or miss and even in the 90s the main DL novels hadn't aged well IMHO. Krynn needs to be interdicted both in Spelljammer and Planescape. Keep Lenders there.

In other circumstances I would have pre-ordered already. I kind of need an alternative where character building is less cumbersome and fiddly than PF, but I want a little more that what 5e gives. I want to like PF2, but I need to see the finalized rules before committing to it.

In 5E virtually every new player regardless of ability score generation tends to match up their main racial bonus with their class. This means unless your race has a plus 2 whatever orcare the variant human you will never see a Dwarf Wizard for example. Back in AD&D you had racial restrictions and ability score negatives but you would often see races in classes where they lacked a...

It's kind of a problem with kitchen sink settings. Let everything in nothing stands out. If you just add a few races or even 1 they stand out more. Kender and Warfirged for example. Gnomes are generally seen as a joke race. I blame Dragonlance.

RPGs live and die by their setting. Only D&D can afford to go "setting agnostic" (and that is barely) by virtue of its size and prominence. Without a strong setting a random RPG is but a set of bland mechanics, and if it's fantasy themed, it is just a heartbreaker. For identity purposes World of Darkness is Storyteller, Freedom City is M&M, and Golarion is Pathfinder. Yes, other settings can work...

Ideally I would have ability modifiers not affecting skill bonus by themselves, I would rather high ability bonuses helped you have higher proficiency levels faster. Edit: An on topic, this isn't necessarily a judgment of value, what I got from the playtest was that PF2 somehow managed to have the bad parts of 4e without the good stuff. I'm still on the fence on whether to give it some of my...

The young girl is apparently John's replacement and he dies at the start. According to leaks from test screenings could be BS. Robots are not Skynet some new company. If they pull the old variant timeline thing meh, Skynet being replaced could make sense depending on their storytelling. Especially if the Terminators develop free will or can break their programming.

I think it is a glaring omission because: a) The witch is important in Golarion (the most common non-divine caster) and b) the witch is an obvious primary occult caster, by not having it the bard was square pegged into the tradition and as a primary caster at the expense of other stuff. (IMO primal or arcane fitted better for the bard)

I don't go because I'm not into the MCU. We used to go a lot. The young people aren't going either for these reboots. Sure PR might claim they're aiming movies at everyone but that means you're really targeting no one. Depends if they're marketing nostalgia but the target audience is younger crowd makes little sense. I think that's why they're getting so many flops lately. They're rebooting 80s and 90s franchises but trying to aim them at the wrong crowds. If you're young most won't care to much about Arnie or Linda so why use them in trailers. Men in Black no Will Smith. Young ones don't have the...

I designed a rough Warlord chassis, it's a lot of work converting a full 4E class. I would probably covert stuff a little bit different than 4E fans mostly due to ogl/gsl. The Warlock I think can be used as a template for 4E classes tweaking things like hit dice etc as required. I don't think at will attack granting works in 4E but you can design a class better at it than the Battlemaster.

Marginal and even you said it was 1/3rd warlord iirc. Might have been Tony. It's not the only example though. You can build the warlock like a 4E one or 3E one. 4E races are there but optional, so are 4E type feats like sentinel and martial healing. Simple fighter champion, complex one Battlemaster. Throw in the optional rules like short rests being 5 minutes or weapon speeds....

Lightning leash makes sense in a D&D world. In world's where supernatural abilities exist it's no big deal if people use psionics, magic, the force etc. It's an unavoidable mundane effect which is the problem. As I said if you like that sort of thing it's fine but that's why it gets mocked. A flaming sword is no big deal in D&D land.

Stick that ability on NPCs and start using it on PCs every combat. See if if you have any players left after a month or two. Forced anything in D&D no save doesn't tend to go down well. Minor damage maybe like magic missile.

If you want a non magical/psionic version people will continue mocking it as every enemy it gets used on is an idiot. If you like that sort of thing it's fine, but that's why people laugh at it.

The dreaded word reshoot and negative reactions to test screenings are doing the rounds. Seems to me they made two more big mistakes. 1. Identify your core audience. If you like Terminator you probably like Terminator 2. Your age target demograph is probably 40 to 50 years old. T2 was 1991. 2. Failing to identify what makes Terminator tick. Arnie as the T-800 is a big part of that....

4E was functionally out if print by 2011. Still combine that with the start of the 4E phb about the next decade it seems the assumption is 10 years for a D&D edition. Spitting out 3 editions in 7 or 8 years doesn't work as they did 3 editions of Star Wars as well.

It all depends on context, it isn't a clear cut black and white issue. In this particular context doesn't matter that badly. But for example, in 5e what's core and what isn't does matter. I still can't have an aasimar divine soul in AL for example, because neither is core! Core matters, some DMs play with core-only. Some groups demand core-only. Core classes/races receive more attention from...

It's a marginal increase in damage at a level a lot of games won't make it to and the Paladin is still better overall because if everything else it's does. The...

Maybe I should start charging lol. Locally DM shortage but there's also a gap age wide. A few oldies like me in late 30s early 40s and a heap college age ( who are mostly broke). Shortage of reliable DMs might be more accurate. Most can't afford a phb. The DM charging is in Seattle or somewhere like that? His clients were Google staff iirc.

It's not red box figures but it's not to far off. Starter set has sold more than every edition except red box and 1E phb. And Keep on the Border Lands. Depending on how many phb sold it's not quite peak D&D but it's close that depending on what metric they are using they could at least make that argument. No one knows exact red box figures but if they can keep up sales they will hit...

What are people's thoughts on the celestial warlock. I have one and I built it for utility, tome lock, healer feat lots of cantrips, bonus action healing. It's spells are not very exciting but for what I wanted it does very well. Damage is ok hex plus agonising blast. Weak at AoEs relative to the fiend. Generally I like it, probably wouldn't play it again any time soon though.

Probably more spell slots, more efficient healing spells and tweaking buff spells so there's more than bless and spiritual guardians being used. Right now they have lost the healing much thing to Druids (life clerics might be an exception) and you have things like Celestial Warlock and that healer Druid who are better at bonus action brevival as the in effect get 4 free healing words built in....

Which is one reason the Warlord doesn't work as an archetype, to 5e Fighter is too deeply committed to all-DPR, all the time. Off on a basic level, IMHO. If you can't think of high-level abilities a class should have, you don't have a handle on the class, yet, and you won't create a viable class, but another LF to be overshadowed by all the Qw's in 5e. It seems to me, the Fighter is a great chassis for the Knight/Warlord. The Fighter has so much ‘uncluttered’ design space. Because the Fighter base design space guarantees excellent damage dealing, the design space for the archetype can focus exclusively group enhancement capabilities. @Zardnaar, @Garthanos, I found it easy to translate Come and Get It, into a 5e format and sensibility. It is also an example of how there is little difference between 4e Encounters and 4e Dailies. Taunting Strike // Barrier Attack 3 Worldly Mind, Intimidation // Action Target: foes in close Versus: your Charisma versus each foes Charisma Hit: Barrier: each foe moves into melee Target: foes in melee Attack: your per-turn attack You taunt your foes, goading them to come attack you. When they reach you, you bust out to punish each of them. Each hostile in close range (30 feet) who can see or hear you must make a Charisma defense, or as a reaction move toward you, adjacent within melee range (5 feet) if able. Then you make one per-turn attack (such as using a weapon or a cantrip) against each hostile in melee. [Compare 4e Come and Get It PH1]

  • 03:22 PM - Yaarel mentioned Zardnaar in post 4e Clone − help create it!
Zardnaar The 4e defaults to ‘attacker always rolls’. Yet it included variant possibilities. For example, ‘players always roll’. In other words, when players attack, they roll against a defense. But when monsters attack, the attack is a fixed number and the players make saves against it. So, it is easy to just leave ‘attack’ and ‘defense’ as raw bonus numbers. If rolling, add d20. But if needing a static number, then ‘Take 10’.

All right... if you're going to make an alternate 5E then just say that. Or if you want to make a personalized 4E variant then just say that. But if that's the case, then you have no need to worry about the D&D SRDs or the OGL. Do whatever you want with no expectation of publishing or publicizing it and keep it for yourself (which it looks like you, Zardnaar have already been doing, which is great.) But my presumption is that if you are coming onto EN World to work with other posters to combine to create a "4E clone" together (and not just your own personal hack)... then you actually have a desire to make it a more universal and faithful port that is OGL compliant and thus able to be "published" like so many OSR games are. And if that's the case, you cannot start the process by introducing all your own rule hacks to get rid of personal bugaboos. Because your personal bugaboos are not going to be other people's, and thus this game you are trying to make will already write off 98% of the people you are hoping to get involved and/or play it. If you want to clone 4E, start with 4E. Write up the 4E Player's Handbook 1 (all the races, classes, themes etc.) in SRD OGL form so that you know you are compliant to begin with and you actually have a base game foundation to use and publish. Once you've done that... then start talking with oth...

@Zardnaar, @DEFCON 1, @Charlaquin It is worth having balanced abilities. Rather than the eight abilities, it is possible to have four abilities. • Strength • Dexterity • Intelligence • Charisma In this four ability setup: • Strength includes hit points. • Dexterity handles jumping and climbing. • Intelligence includes the five senses. • Charisma includes willpower and empathy. In this way: • ‘Strength’ equals exactly 4e Fortitude • ‘Dexterity’ equals 4e Reflex • ‘Intelligence’ equals 4e Perception • ‘Charisma’ equals 4e Will So, for example, it is possible for the 4e clone to talk about the ‘Strength ability’ and the ‘Strength defense’.

  • 04:59 PM - Yaarel mentioned Zardnaar in post How To Clone 4E Using 5E Rules
@Zardnaar, I basically like these half-feats. The main issues are: Flavor-neutral mechanics Avoid baking setting flavor into the mechanics. Rely more on ‘flavor text boxes’ for flavor. Especially avoid terms like ‘gods’ within the actual mechanics themselves. Defenses In 4e, there are no such things as ‘saves’. Instead, the attacker always rolls. The defender has ‘defenses’. Ideally, the redundant defenses AC and Reflex consolidate into one defense. Meanwhile Perception becomes a formal defense, since 4e refers to ‘passive perception’ highly frequently. • AC/Reflex defense • Fortitude defense • Will defense • Perception defense Consolidate micro-bonuses 5e has the right idea of eliminating and reducing most bonuses, while allowing the DM to use ‘advantage’ on the fly to represent a situational bonus. Untyped bonuses must cease to exist. The list of bonus types needs to be few and impossible to stack. • Ability bonus type (Strength, Intelligence, etcetera) • Proficiency bonus typ...

Regarding multiclassing. A discussion with Zardnaar in an other thread helped me be more open to multiclassing, even including limited-level ‘prestige classes’. A 4e ‘Paragon Path’ is exactly a prestige class that is suitable for levels 13 to 20 (or whatever). As long as a Path focuses on being alternative features, rather than strictly superior to a base class, then it seems useful. Many class features that are shared between several classes might work better as a Study Course (levels 1-4). Meanwhile the class itself is chosen at the Heroic tier. Thus there are four different types of classes, depending on tiers. Student Course (levels 1-4), Heroic Class (levels 5-12), Paragon Path (levels 13-20), or Epic Destiny (levels 21-24). Here a ‘base class’ means a full track of advancement, including a Study Course, Heroic Class, Paragon Path, and Epic Destiny. But it is no problem for a player to diverge and customize by picking a different Course or Path.
  • 05:02 PM - Yaarel mentioned Zardnaar in post How To Clone 4E Using 5E Rules
@Tony Vargas, @Zardnaar 5e long rest grants complete healing PLUS hitdice. What if a long rest only gives hitdice? Thus someone who is fresh (unbloodied) can spend hitdice in the form of second-winds. But someone who is injured or exhausted must spend the hitdice immediately to recover, thus is more vulnerable to further damage from future battles. @Tony Vargas, @Garthanos, and others Personally, I love the 5e proficiency bonus, and feel it more than adequately addresses the 4e half-level bonus. Student Tier Levels 1-4 (Proficiency +2) Heroic Tier Levels 5-12 (Proficiency +3, +4) Paragon Tier Levels 13-20 (Proficiency +5, +6) Epic Tier Levels 21-24 (Proficiency +7, also allows ability scores to improve beyond 20) Moreover the Epic Tier can come with an Epic Destiny, becoming ‘Immortal’ by various methods. 5e feats include certain ones that are a ‘half feat’ plus a +1 ability score improvement. It is easy to equate smaller 5e feats as one or two half feats. I consider 4 skill proficiencies to be ...

While the goal is to reverse-engineer 4e, the clone is also an opportunity to finetune the system. To improve it for certain sensibilities if there is enough agreement. Here are suggestions that interest me.FYI, your suggestions do not interest me in the slightest. I would personally like to see a 4E-esque game that reduced the level spread to 10. Much in the spirit of what Zardnaar has been saying, I don't think that it's a coincidence that so many fantasy heartbreakers have designed their classes around 10 levels instead of 20. It's easier to condense the leveling experience so that you can do much of the same with less levels.

  • 08:08 AM - Hussar mentioned Zardnaar in post Favourite D&D edition that’s not 5E
My question then is why did 4E only last four years, and why were so many of its innovations stripped from 5E? Did WotC put out content at an unsustainable pace, did they cave due to vocal 4E detractors, etc? The Rick & Morty vs Dungeons & Dragons comic series even skipped talking about 4E, with Morty questioning why and Rick replying with "we don't talk about fourth edition". This after the comic criticized both 1E (too deadly) and 3E (wizards dominate). Well, the fact that it was still only getting played by about a third of gamers pretty much doomed 4e. As far as why we "don't talk about fourth edition", well, there's a very good reason for that. One only has to peruse the forums from about 2008-2010 to see why we don't talk about fourth edition. It was impossible to talk about without it turning into a giant edition war wank. /edit to add Heck, see Zardnaar and his discussion with Immortal Sun for why we don't talk about 4e. Imagine it was like that for every single thread, every single day, for three or four YEARS and that's what it was like to talk about 4e.

  • 11:22 AM - Aldarc mentioned Zardnaar in post How To Clone 4E Using 5E Rules
Why would you want to do this? The point of 5e is that it's not 4e.His intent was clear. 4e has a more restricted license for developing potential content whereas 5e does not. So if one wants to expand content for something more 4e like (or an evolution thereof), then 5e would potentially serve as a better chassis due to its less restricted license. So how would one do that. If you wouldn't, then that's fine. Zardnaar, I would also look at the d20 3.X license as well, especially given how 13th Age was developed.

  • 04:58 AM - Maxperson mentioned Zardnaar in post Is RPGing a *literary* endeavour?
That they are dancing is more about content than description. The thing that makes the scene more interesting is that the kobolds are dancing for some reason, not how the GM describes the dance It's not, or at least it's not entirely content. Dancing is a description of what the kobolds are doing up on the hill. Dancing is also content. This brings me back(again) to the point I made pages ago. Both qualitative description AND content are both necessary to make an interesting scene. One without the other is going to be dull. Also not sure why my posts keep including that quote I think it has something to do with multiquoting. Zardnaar was driving Morrus crazy with it in a thread recently. Maybe one of them could help you figure out how to stop quoting it.

Yes! Heck that's a story all by itself! So you *call* yourself a skald, and you even have the entertainer background (BTW, SUPER IMPORTANT: If you are new to 5e, be sure to read the background chapter! It's not just roleplaying fluff, half your skills can come from your background. It's like a mini-class!). You know how to heal, you know how to fight (pact of the blade maybe?), you know how to sing... but you have a secret. You really didn't have that *spark* that distinguishes great bards (ie the one with bardic magic) from others. Until one day, you met that mysterious teacher... Thanks for the replies @Paul Farquhar @Zardnaar and @Ancalagon, and all due respect, but I really want to stick to playing a bard and just interested in having him be an archer so that he can deal some attack damage/and survive combat because he's further from the worst monsters. Things like Paladin, Warlock wouldn't match his backstory or the way I want to RP him.

So from reading all of the replies, here are my follow-up ideas/questions for you guys - @Zardnaar, @TwoSix, @Mistwell, @Tony Vargas, @Treantmonklvl20 I'll format this to go by topic: Is there something you'd recommend outside an archer bard that would fit my char's style (maybe some simple-type multiclass I mentioned in the OP or something else)? Also, is a ranged bard preferable to keep him safer due to lower defense/HP and for spell concentration? Ability Scores: Cool so I'll probably take the STR10 DEX16 CON12 INT10 WIS12 CHA16 then. (I care about strength as I'd like to have decent athletics score and wisdom, again, for the skills) Although, I'm a bit worried regarding the CON - I've seen a lot of talk that it's important - for concentration I think? So in order to avoid issues casting, I should equip just a sword if I'm not using ranged at the moment, not the shield? (and keep shield around just in case, but I'm not sure when I'd use it) For armor, yeah I don't want penalties to stealth as I'd like my char to be able to sneak around in the wilderness camouflaged or ...

Not really. Yes, things take more time when something goes wrong, but Hofstadter's Law is less about things going wrong, and m ore about how poorly humans estimate. Basically, even if everything goes well, your estimate of completion date will still be wrong. And in case @Zardnaar missed the subtlety (and the joke) of Hofstadter's Law: it's recursive. Even if you take into account Hofstadter's Law, you are underestimating, no matter how many times you take into account Hofstadter's Law.

@Zardnaar, I empathize with some of your issues with TLJ and don't think questioning whether Rey is a Mary Sue or not is inherently sexist, but I think you are going a bit overboard in trying to line her up with Luke and compare them in every detail. No matter what way you look at it, their "Mary Sueness" is similar. The only thing that bothered me about Rey's Mary Sueness in TFA was how she could hang with Kylo Ren in a lightsabre duel. I know he was injured, but it still seemed a bit absurd and definitely damaged my suspension of disbelief. But overall she wasn't really any more Mary Sueish than Luke. If she was, it wasn't by much - and not worth getting upset about. The Mary Sue is a female version of wish fulfillment. Luke, and superheroes in general, are male versions of wish fulfillment. I don't know why female wish fulfillment would be any worse, except insofar as TFA felt like fan fiction and the Mary Sue is derived from fan fiction. The more obvious difference is that it is generall...

Zardnaar The data you’re citing is all about the fanbase prior to The Force Awakens being released. Based on that, it’s not surprising to find out that the “average fan” was someone who grew up on the original movies. But that doesn’t mean that’s who the movie IS or SHOULD BE aimed at. The goal is to reach a new generation of fans. To get viewers interested enough that they continue to enjoy the films and merchandise for decades. Now, there’s no reason that the films cannot appeal to both a new audience and the traditional audience. I’d argue that these films do exactly that. But there’s a clear “passing the torch” element in these new films that seems to bother some fans. Imagine if the episodes had been released chronologically. I would expect many fans would have lost their minds when Obi-Wan was killed off to start the second trilogy and pass the torch to a new hero. The criticisms of Luke would have been very similar to those of Rey...with one significant difference. People ...

Weapon specialization and increased weapon dice. 1d12+2 and 1d8+2. Max damage 24 Round two. Extra attack with longsword. 1d12+2 max damage 38 a round. Two rounds 52 damage. Dart specialists could also put out around 4 or 5:attacks. The dual wielding fighter with the fighter handbook could offset all of the dual wield penalty. 2E you tended to level up a lot slower relative to 1E and B/X. No xp for gp. You notice it a lot running 1E or B/X adventures for 2E. I don’t recall improved weapon dice as core. But I admit, I played mostly 1e with only a few 2e elements (like thief skill progression). But I will also remind how you got massive penalties for dual wielding. So theoretically a hyper specialized drizzt clone at level 1 could do a lot of damage, with a 20 THACO that got a -2/-4 penalty to hit, you weren’t hitting to do that damage. Also, I’ll note there are more classes than fighters, which folks seem to be forgetting. Only fighters in 2e could specialize. EVE...

I'm also assuming that you'll be able to pick them up remaindered once the actual book comes out (I suspect there will be a flood of PF1 and PF Playtest stuff hitting their discount tables - or getting shipped off to remainder retailers like Half Price Books - sometime in the next year. I'm already seeing a lot of the smaller Pathfinder books and adventures showing up en masse at the local Half Price Books stores in town in new, never been used condition). I'd return it and wait a few weeks for the full rules to drop if it were me.

In 5E virtually every new player regardless of ability score generation tends to match up their main racial bonus with their class. This may be your experience, but it doesn't match mine. This means unless your race has a plus 2 whatever orcare the variant human you will never see a Dwarf Wizard for example. One of the first 5e pcs in my game was a dwarf wizard. I don't think this is as universal as you seem to believe.

In 5E virtually every new player regardless of ability score generation tends to match up their main racial bonus with their class. I do need to throw in one exception. There are brand of new players who don't care about matching abilities scores to class at all, instead matching them to concept. For example the first character my daughter made was an elven moon druid with an 8 Wisdom because she wanted her to be impulsive and lackign common sense, and a very high Dexterity because she wanted her to be "agile like Peter Parker". (Not like Spidey, but like Peter Parker. I've always wondered at that distinction. But I digress). Anyway, she had a concept in her head, after discussion it druid fit what she wanted the best (going for moon at 3rd), and that's how she wanted her ability scores in order to play the character as she wanted. Was it sub-optimal in terms of mechanics? Yes. But that was a lower priority then hitting her concept. It wasn't completely bad, as a moon druid wh...

Back in AD&D you had racial restrictions and ability score negatives but you would often see races in classes where they lacked a relevent bonus. Probably due to multclass rules and racial packages. Just something I have noticed. You can usually have a decent guess at a players class by their race. THAT IS A FACT JACK! And why is it a problem?

New race though, I don't mind people wrecking their own stuff.Kender don't usually confine themselves to their own stuff. That abomination is tailor-made for griefing.

Dragonlance had a unique race and it treated Gnomes as a joke.It treated kender as a far worse joke.

This means unless your race has a plus 2 whatever orcare the variant human you will never see a Dwarf Wizard for example. Yeah, so? What's you're point? It's a fact, most new players tend to gravitate towards the easy/obvious choices. Always have, always will. Some of this is because of the math, some because of tropes & clichés. As they lv up as players, then they start branching out. That's when you begin to see dwarven wizards etc. Back in AD&D you had racial restrictions and ability score negatives but you would often see races in classes where they lacked a relevent bonus. Probably due to multclass rules and racial packages. Zard, it was AD&D. You didn't get bonuses unless you had 15+ in a stat. Wich some race/gender combos couldn't even reach. An example from 1e, not considering UA: Strength (ignoring the weight allowances & BB/LG%s wich wh...

Just something I have noticed. You can usually have a decent guess at a players class by their race. Umm... You have never seen a Dwarf Wizard?... You have seen less Dwarf Wizards than in AD&D?... First, Dwarfs get a Constitution bonus which is nice to have if you are a Wizard. Furthermore they are the only race that grants you access to medium armor proficiency-- which is super nice to have if you are a Wizard. Their lack of intelligence bonus literally does not matter at all if you simply avoid the spells that have DCs that the target can ...

It's kind of a problem with kitchen sink settings. Let everything in nothing stands out. If you just add a few races or even 1 they stand out more. Kender and Warfirged for example. Gnomes are generally seen as a joke race. I blame Dragonlance. You both credited Dragonlance for having few races like Kender, and detracted for having too many like gnomes?

You can usually have a decent guess at a players class by their race. That's right! When I see a gnome, I think ... "There's a no-class player."

Back in AD&D you had racial restrictions and ability score negatives but you would often see races in classes where they lacked a relevent bonus. Probably due to multclass rules and racial packages. I don't remember this, though I ran B/X and only really engaged in AD&D as a player, and it's been a long time, so perhaps my memories are shaded. What I remember was that the class/race combos you could play were insanely restrictive. If you were playing anything other than a fighter, magic-user, or fighter/magic-user you were playing a human or a half-elf. When I played I was almost always a cleric, so I was almost always playing a human. Because only half-elves, half-orcs and humans were allowed to be clerics, and the level caps for half-orc and half-elf clerics were stupidly low and the benefits of not being human weren't that great (I googled it real quick to remind myself, and it was worse than I thought - half-orcs were capped at level 4 and half-elves at level 5 - honestly in retr...

That's rough. I don't think we can call it one way or another. That playtest just left such a bad taste though. That’s a pretty strong statement. It’s not many sequels that ruin the original like Highlander 2 does. LOL it was a joke. I was trying to one-up the prior jokes. I think Pathfinder 2 will do fine.

I don't care if people don't like OSR games. I play 5E as that's what everyone plays. Happy the play OSR and would sign up. Not going to stand on a soapbox and claim it's the greatest thing ever. Don't like it that's fine don't play. My D&D KGB aren't going to turn put a gun to your head and drag you off to the OSR gulag and make you play. It's not for everyone and that's fine. That should so be a faction/place in a less-than-serious game.

"I got it you have to do the dance". My response was "well off you go, you want the door open or not". It's not really something you see in modern D&D. That's awesome! I had to go and look that area up in the module... Comedy! :p
  • 03:43 AM - Sacrosanct quoted Zardnaar in post OSR ... Feel the Love! Why People Like The Old School
Sarcosanct you did a good job with Felk More, printed it out and got it bound up. Thank you for the kind words. I definitely wanted to go with a heavy OSR and 80s pop culture theme lol. Lots of lessons learned though, as it was written during the playtest in 2013-14, and then hurriedly updated in 2016, so some things may be a bit outdated on a pure 5e context.
