either take the tortle AC, or take the monk AC. use the higher of the two.

ultimately, the negative behavior is not rule knowledge, or pointing out forgotten or mis-remembered rules. the problem is when people argue with the DM. however, because of the name attached to this negative behavior (wasting everyones time arguing), the label sometimes gets applied to those of us who read and remember the rules. sort of like how people will call you a munchkin or power...

some systems already do this- the slowest initiative declares their action first, and the fastest last. then actions try to resolve. I dont think it would work very well for D&D however, as a slow fighter would see his declared target run away too often, and make things less heroic. it would also either screw the slowest initiative over for the combat, or need an initiative roll every round. ...

non-monetary loot is a wonderful thing... an NPC with a sack holding 5 pounds of carrots? hey, thats loot. they may have tools, or other random odds and ends. in general, i would suggest just going with whatever feels like common sense for the enemies in question.

dont worry about it, let your player have fun with an epic kung fu battle. this becomes most relevant for the drunken master, who gets a free disengage when using flurry, or open hand who gets specific options with flurry of blows. plus, you dont have to worry about reaction, if the enemy is stunned. I would say that 'immediately' means that after the attack, and before the bonus action, you...

barbarian 20? +4 str/con capstone. lets see... 24 con (+7) 20 dex (+5), +3 shield (+5) is AC 27. you could go higher with a ring of protection, and/or a cloak. or an ioun stone of protection. an AC 30 is possible, but thats 3 attunement items. to hit... str 24 is +7, proficiency is +6, and the weapon is probably +3, but thats only +16. a belt of storm giant strength would give a +9 however, and that would do it. by comparison a defense-style fighter in +3 full plate with +3 shield is also AC 27. Yeah even without epic boons +19 to hit is doable. And AC in the 30s very doable which is more of a concern.

stealth is greater than passive perception. its true. shadow monks get a hefty +10 from pass without trace, need high dex to start with, and get other nice bonuses to mobility. dip a level of rogue for experteise, and you souble your proficiency bonus. disadvantage on passive perception is -5, so the cloak of elvenkind is advantage and an effective +5 at the same time. add in mask of the wild, and a wood elf shadow monk can hide a lot easier when outdoors. oh, and at-will invisibility at 11th. lets compare perception- a wisdom skill, so few will max the stat bonus. passive perception is 10+wisdom+proficiency. so 10+5+6= 21 passive perception, or +27 for a rogue with experteise (it does help spot traps). it is easy to build a character who will have a bonus higher than the total passive, so they make their stealth check even on a 1. stealth wins over perception. yes, you have to optimize a build to do this, but it works great with any wood elf- they can get the wood elf magic feat, f...
