Ok, heres a thing: Kobold press technically has 30 or so 5E products https://koboldpress.com/kpstore/product-category/all-products/dungeons-dragons/5th-edition/ Now, some of these (or at least their content) will be part of the forthcoming Midgard Campaign Setting. In any case, do we add all 30 here? What's the typical page count on those $2.99 PDFs? (Thought I notice so far only print products are in the wiki post -- what's your intention there, ChapolimX?)

  • 02:41 AM - SkidAce quoted ChapolimX in post Ravnica: Is This The New D&D Setting? [UPDATED & CONFIRMED!]
I'm annoyed by this, not because I hate new things, but because I'm being told that I can't get a 5e hardcover for my favorite campaign settings as that would cause some sort of mystical fracture in the player base which would lead D&D to bankruptcy. Yeah, I see your point. That argument won't be valid any more I reckon.

Displays discriminatory attitudes: This is a serious accusation to be made without any evidence. What would you consider proof? Keep in mind that witness & victim statements ARE proof. He was active during Gamergate: So he has a different political view? What a crime! Sexism is not a different political view. It's just sexism. Has been known to harass women and members of the LGBT community: I can only guess that to make such empty claims about anyone you dislike is fair game nowadays. I have seen him do so. I have seen him being a trolling jerk. Are you calling me a liar? I followed Angry on Twitter for a long time and read his blog, and found that he was not someone I liked as an individual, being bitter and mean. The more I saw the more I did not like. And he is definitely not someone I want to support financially. He has cultivated his reputation as an overly angry, mean individual and now he has to live with it.

On the Kickstarter segment is worth checking the The Angry GM: The Website: The Book. This project was overfunded in the first hours and is about to launch a book filled with advice for experienced and newbies GMs by the Angry GM. You can expect the same quality and depth present on his articles published on theangrygm.com now revised and condensed in a book format. If you're not familiar with his work I recommend start with this series that teaches the basics of adjudicating players actions, narrating scenes and starting your first game. Thanks for the heads up. Angry has an interesting in your face style that is a refreshing change of pace. Also if he is associated with Jim McClure then that is an extra plus to the whole deal. I enjoyed following Jims old podcast series Talking Tabletop back in the day.

So we can say, backed by statistics, we are the coolest kids in town? Plus, since the mainstream market of video games draw a lot of inspiration from tabletop RPG, we can say we are trendy too? ;) So... the hipster defense? ;)

  • 07:38 PM - Edwin Suijkerbuijk quoted ChapolimX in post The New D&D Adventure Is - Tomb of Annihilation!
According to Mearls the book will be like a Gazetteer of Chult with an adventure on top. This is an interesting approach! I wonder if we will also see a Chult adventuring guide with some player options like the swords coast adventerurs guide.

According to Mearls the book will be like a Gazetteer of Chult with an adventure on top. This is an interesting approach! I like this approach - it was done in SKT for the North and now it sounds like we'll get a similar approach for Chult. If we're not going to get a full-fledged FRCS, then a piecemeal approach to updating the setting is a good (if somewhat more extended) substitute. Hopefully we'll see one out of every 2 or 3 APs go somewhere new and interesting (say Thay, Mulhorand, or even the Dalelands for a Myth Drannor adventure) and get a 60-page chapter like we got in SKT that describes and updates the region... Aaaaand the first live game has begun. So likely no more announcements for a while. No news on minis or Neverwinter expansions. Or other support. And no news of the fall hardcover. According to Mearls the book will be like a Gazetteer of Chult with an adventure on top. This is an interesting approach! Based on this, I think my plane-hopping prediction was wrong. With that much information on Chult, there's not going to be any space left over for the planes. But like other posters, I'd like at least a nominal explanation for how Acererak traversed the multiverse. Hopefully this doesn't turn into another ten pages, like all threads, about how FR is the worst. We've read it already. I really hope we get to talk about this product.... Yep. I wish this forum's rules against edition warring extended to setting warring as well. Like, we get it, some people don't like FR. Good for them. But 5E is the current edition and FR is the current default setting. Kvetching doesn't help.

  • 04:39 AM - Von Ether quoted ChapolimX in post Ken Hite Is Lead Designer of VAMPIRE 5th EDITION!
I'm not familiar with Ken Hite or Tim Powers work besides what I could find in Wikipedia. This makes me curious about your comment meaning. Tim Powers is an SF writer who specializes in taking odd and rarely known factoids and building an occult conspiracy around them. By the time you are half way though a novel, you can see the "logic." i.e. Our modern 52-card playing deck is based on the Tarot. What if a magically talented person could still use them as a focus for magic? What if some the famous gangsters of our time were magic users who knew that? What does that make of the original Las Vegas mob-backed casinos, then? etc. Ken Hite does the same stuff. What if the Nazi occultists were right? (Day After Ragnarok) What if Count Dracula had been invited to England to become an supernatural espionage asset and the famous book is a cover up? (Night's Black Agents) And what if a fantasy version of Cambodia had been the victim of two gods instead of two super powers? (Qelong). And he j...

This controversy is not about the new edition. It was related to the video-game "Vampire The Masquerade: We Eat Blood" released on Steam and mobile plataforms. The article gives the impression that Zak Smith (or Zak Sabbath) was hired for work into the tabletop game, which, as far as I know, holds no evidence. and the quote: a man who has been accused of serial harassment of LGBT game designers and community members and those promoting feminism and equality. seems like it the opposite of what he is actually doing. changing it to: a man who has been accused of serial harassment of _ game designers and community members and those demoting feminism and equality of LGBT. would be more correct.

No, it is not.. Vampire: The Requiem and Vampire: The Masquerade aren't editions of the same game. They're different games with the word vampire in the name. Why people insist in calling them the same game is beyond me. So, we can say there will be 2 editions of Vampire: The Masquerade avaiable in print if you take into account the print on demand products. They're not identical. And I don't think I'd call "Vampire: The Requiem" the VtM third Edition. But they're the same game in the same way that D&D BECMI is the same game as Advanced D&D. But they're both Storyteller System games where you can play a gangrel vampire who identifies itself as a Kindred and uses the Animalism power and were originally published by White Wolf. They're arguably more similar than D&D and Pathfinder. Heck, the difference is really more one of lore. They're different campaign settings to the same game...

So there will be 3 editions of Vampire in print at the same time? @TerraDave No. There will be: Vampire: The Requiem - A different game with its own mechanics, setting and themes. It holds some resemblance with Vampire: The Masquerade because it was released as a spiritual successor when the game line was closed. It will be supported by Onyx Path as a licensee. Vampire: The Masquerade - 20th Anniversary Edition - A commemorative compendium released by Onyx Path that evolved to its own game line. Probably it will still be available as pdf and print on demand but there will be no new releases besides the ones that are already in production. Vampire: The Masquerade - 5th Edition - A new edition under development by the new White Wolf now belonged to Paradox. Which is a "yes" there will be three in print (if you consider Print on Demand as "print"). But only two will have new products.

  • 01:40 AM - Morrus quoted ChapolimX in post Gale Force 9 Comments On Brazil Translatorgate
That would make the game out of reach for many customers around the world. Indeed. I have no local store. I have to use Amazon. Not selling via Amazon would make it a very local hobby. And this site probably wouldn't exist as I'd not have seen any D&D books since the 1990s. Given the collapse of local game stores worldwide (yes, please tell us how you have 42 gamestores in your street!) not selling on Amazon would be a horrifically stupid decision.
