Read up on the No True Scotsman fallacy; that will explain why you're having such a hard time in this conversation, and why people are finding it a frustrating experience trying to talk with you.

Ah, I've figured it out! The way your proclamation that "Hollywood doesn't really do new movies" works in your head is that Hollywood = Disney's 4-5 blockbusters each year, and all of the other 500 movies each year are not by Disney and therefore aren't Hollywood. Ergo, Hollywood doesn't do new movies any more. The No True Scotsman fallacy needs to be renamed, because, man, you not only...

+1. It makes for a very frustrating conversation when No True Scotsman is constantly invoked to move the goalposts every time someone points out a factual inaccuracy.

Patrick Stewart sounds older than he does currently in real life, and Spiner has been de-aged. Interesting! Reports also say Riker is in it. I knew he directed some of it, but apparently he’s actually in it. I hope there isn’t too much focus on the Romulan stuff. With Nemesis, and the Abrahms Trek reboot, I’m kinda bored of what wasn’t a very interesting plot thread in the first place. I’m...

I really don't understand what your point is, and it seems to change with each post. My interest in the conversation (such that it was) has expired as it's gong nowhere interesting, but I'll reiterate that if you want to see original movies, there are tons of them every year, and they're awesome and available to you. If your requirement for them is that they have to be blockbusters, then I guess...

Again, why does it matter to you that films be blockbusters? There are lots of non-blockbuster films every year. They are great. Go watch 'em. They're still making them, plenty. There's no "fault" to assign. Nothing is wrong. Blockbusters are there, small films are there. Watch either, or both, or whatever.

What's with your obsession with blockbusters? Does a film only count if it's a blockbuster? So? Go see them if you think you'll like them. You're not an investor. If your requirement to see a film is (a) it be original, and (b) it must be a blockbuster then you're only hurting yourself. Otherwise -- go see the films. They're there.

I was thinking about that very thing earlier today. That’s an artifact of using average rolls rather than the Judge rolling for the monsters. If the Judge rolls, you’d need a monster with 19d6 in its Defense skill (which doesn’t exist) to make it impossible to hit by a starting character. I like the average rolls because it makes play really fast, but you do lose that randomness. One...

By the same argument fighting, shooting, and defence are al forms of combat. Any skill list can be pared down indefinitely until you just end up with “skill”, but I do feel those two things are different enough. I wouldn’t want the average orc to charm somebody.

Yeah, if you were racing the dragon or it was chasing you. Flight v Athletics. Phew! You escaped! Appraisal just figure dragons can count their gold hoard, so they can make a check to value stuff.

50/50 is the chance most people get for most things — it’s the standard difficulty. You have a 50/50 chance to pick a lock, bust down a door, shoot most things, etc.

According to WotC, talking to Bloomberg, 40 million people play D&D annually; 9 million watched D&D on Twitch in 2017; and sales increased by 41% in 2017 and 53% in 2018. UPDATE! WotC's PR agency has reached to note that Bloomberg's figure refers to the number of people who have played the game since 1974, not annually! You can find this information and more in this article over on...

Simply6 is a fast, light tabletop roleplaying game for 2 or more players which you can play using just six-sided dice. I put this together over the last couple of days in my spare time (based on something I was playing with in the forums a while back) and have uploaded it to DTRPG. It's only about 20-pages long, and will likely be tweaked and updated after I get some feedback.

They aren't. Anybody who has access to the final book die for release in August is. Well, that's just silly, isn't it?

The current plan, for anybody following along, is to close the site again on Tuesday for another attempt. The site will be closed for 1-3 days.

As we're imminently moving to the new platform (Xenforo), this bugs thread for vBulletin is about to become redundant, so I'll close it.

It said "Playtest" on the cover. It was very clear what it was. If you were under the impression you were sneakily getting the finished product a year before everybody else, I think that's on you, not Paizo.

Guys, this isn’t a Modiphius product, and it’s not 2d20. We’re not going to hijack it into yet another patented Water Bob 2d20 hate thread. Stay on topic, please. Water Bob, if you want to rant about your personal dislike of 2d20 yet again, start your own thread. Thanks.

So this thread had a root in RPGs in that we were talking about WotC’s creative director’s statements. Now we appear to just be talking about gender pronouns and dictionaries, which isn’t on topic for this forum (or even this thread). If you want to talk about Mike Mearls and his tweets and how they relate to the gaming community please feel free. Otherwise, we’ll close it as entirely...

About DMJefsterTrixx
Introduction:
Hello Fellow RPG Addicts!
About Me:
I've been gaming since 1980 and I still game with all of my buddies from high school, as well as with our grown up children. I worked in the medical field for 25 years as an LPN. Now as a stroke/open heart surgery survivor I've continued gaming and I look at it like it's therapy. My morale is great thanks to close friends who have encouraged me to be a continued part of their games.

My gamer buddies' kids call my wife and I "Aunt and Uncle". My nephew Jake and his wife bought us a 5th ed PHB and asked us to DM for them, and I'm looking forward to running a campaign for them set in Cormyr.

I love playing dwarven clerics and half elven rangers and I love both D & D and Pathfinder. I live in the St. Louis area. Although I'm on a limited income now I still enjoy gaming, hosting games, making food and memories with my gamier family.

I'm always looking for new gamer buddies to share ideas with!

My campaign is set in Cormyr some 200 years after the Goblinoid Wars of King Azoun IV. The party of PC's have to unravel the mystery of who they are to defeat the rising evil. This group of 0 level children must rise up to be the heroes Toril needs...

Tilverton has long been an ancient crater. The events that happened there, then later with Tiamat's attempted rise to power have set into motion a course of events that could be cataclysmic to all of Faerun.

My Character:
My favorite character to this day is Aron Stonehammer, a AD&D half elf Ranger/Cleric adopted and raised by dwarves in DR1365. He never got higher than 6th/7th level back in '93 but he was a blast to play. Our whole party started as 0 level children, orphaned while our families traveled in a caravan. We were fleeing from Waterdeep to Cormyr during the times of Azoun IV.

My buddies Eric, Jesse, Lori, Vickie, and I still call ourselves "The Stonehammer Family" in jest because of that game.

I've written there history into my current campaign.
