Went ahead and tried something. If Sovereign or Diggs have anything more specific on what to search for, please do. JohnathanHawke: Not clear, sorry, but that last line as supposed to be an IC, inside his head question :) GreenKarl: This perticular door happens to have a monster behind it though... Though we - bar Davos - haven't heard/seen the details yet, granted

...I 5). You render yourself hard to notice with a telepathic effect which causes others to simply ignore you. Perception filters work automatically on those with an INT attribute of less than your PSI score, while more intuitive creatures will notice you immediately. If you make an attack, the effect ends immediately. Creatures aware of you cannot thereafter be affected by the perception filter. The beginning is straight forward. Any creature with a INT < my PSI doesn't notice me. Next part says if I make an attack the effect ends immediately. The bolded part is what I am curious about. I see this as meaning that any creature that becomes aware of me can't suddenly be caused to ignore me again. The cannot thereafter wording is throwing me off. It could just mean that once a creature is aware of you you can't affect them with the power again until they are no longer aware of you. Or it could mean that once a creature is aware of you you can never use the power on them again. GreenKarl I am curious how you interpret this power. As the 1 time use only interpretation makes the power incredibly limiting and not really worth taking in my eyes.

..., sometimes it’s even explicitly stated. Unless you have an exploit of some kind that negates that, I’m pretty sure I can sense Strong Emotions in anyone I converse with. I can’t read anyone’s mind. Only sense strong emotions. And then, only in people with which I converse with. You could, I suppose, do a check yourself to see if you can keep any strong emotions from coming to the surface, or just use one word descriptors, such as “angry” or “bored”. I’m obviously not going to push this on party members, it’s more for NPC’s, but since you brought it up. I think it is just poor wording. Anything can be considered to affect a character. In this instance your PC is trying to read the surface emotions of those around him that is an affect. Though you are probably correct that the specific rules in each exploit would supersede the rule on page 62. My other problem is the way empathy is worded. It states strong emotions, what would be considered a strong emotion? I'll let GreenKarl rule if my character can prevent the reading.

The incorrect dice count (5d5 at 11) was just a typo in the code. Should be fixed now! Also I added a printer friendly version of the final character. (Sorry GreenKarl -- looks like this side topic rather overtook the thread!)

"Yeh, that Jawicho guy says he gonna do some awchemy, minds if'n ah can check tha out, I likes awchemy." Narkle goes and knocks on Jerichos door to ask if can watch and assist him with alchemy, he has his own Alchemical Tool's but has no formulas. assisting GreenKarl with Aid action (assuming he lets the little bugger in his room ;) ) vis a vis: Multiple characters can cooperate on the same task. If it’s a simpler task that just requires a roll, treat this as though all of the characters but one were using the Aid action. If it’s a complex task, treat this as all of them working on different parts of it at a time, so all their efforts count toward its completion.

...eal life logic and physics as it can, while still remaining playable. One of the basic assumption of turn-based combat systems is that *everybody* is doing all they can not to get hit *all the time*. In "reality", if you were watching a turn-based-simulated combat, you would see combatants moving all the time - feinting, jabbing, dodging, taking cover, moving for position, etc, etc. Our one attack roll per turn represents either the sum result of all that (i.e. cumulative RL effects of multiple attacks/wounds/fatigue/strain), or that one occasion where you see (or have successfully created) an opening/opportunity in the other guy's defenses. Nobody, either you or your opponent, is really standing around doing nothing for 6 seconds and then pulling their trigger/swinging their sword once. Saying "I should get a bonus shooting at close range because we're in a turn-based system that has the whole world frozen while I take my move and action" makes no sense to me. But again, YMMV. GreenKarl: The mossberg shotgun is pistol gripped, not meant to be shot as a pistol as I understand it (except maybe by trolls?). See here to see what happens when you try to shoot a sawed-off, pistol-gripped shotgun one-handed. :) Or here for a more serious example of pistol-grips vs normal stock. Now I might be wrong on this as I'm imagining the SR mossberg like: this. i.e. definitively, no-question a two-handed firearm there. In general though, the rule above - whether warranted by reality or not - does heavily skew things in favor of guns vs melee weapon in melee. Is that what you wanted for the system?

Hey there, GreenKarl Went ahead and posted a conditionnal action for our troll. Could you look it over though? I wasn't sure if you had to roll a magical attack against something unmoving at melee range (?). Treat it as Unconscious maybe? (Advantage tohit and auto-crit if attacker within 5 feet)

This is the PF2 playtest adventure "Doomsday Dawn" in character thread for party #1. When he remains, he says he was asked to find out if will be attending. You promptly open the envelope. It is an invitation from Lady Keleri Deverin, a local scholar and aristocrat. You became acquainted with her some time ago and she occasionally meets with you to discuss mutual interests. In the invitation, she reminds you of the times you told her you were hoping your life would involve more adventure and that she might have the job to kick off that new part of your life. No other details, other than lunch being served at 1 pm are listed. The messenger who delivered the invitation waits for you to say you will attend and hurries off. You have a few hours to do something in town before you describe your arrival at the Deverin ...

GreenKarl, I was looking over Silver Streak's character sheet - and the rules - and I discovered that I did something illegal with him: I made a Sense power part of an Alternate array. I am willing to drop his Electricity Aura to provide the points necessary to correct this. The result would be: Electricity Aura would be removed. Device Sense would be renamed ElectroSense and would no longer be part of the Lightning Control Array. Device Control and Overload would become separate slots in the Lightning Control Array. This would increase Device Control to rank 5, and Overload to rank 8. Point Changes: Electricity Aura: -12 ElectroSense: +11 Device Control: +0 (Takes over slot) Overload: +1 (slot cost) Are you OK with these changes?

GreenKarl: Juno's gas mask and hazmat suit don't help vs the mutant's stench? tglassy: See the map in this post, that should help? Basically we're crawling in an east-west ventilation tunnel just big enough to fit us lying down (and a bit too tight to fit the troll comfortably). Juno went right towards a vent-grill 15 feet away, Davos went left and is turning a corner to the north 30 feet away. Juno just got attacked by *something* (her body is in the way so the rest of us don't have line of sight to whatever the $%$! it is). Shooting through her is not recommended by 4 out of 5 streetdocs ;) I'll wait to see what Juno does before acting. Basically, if she exits the vent go that way, else go after Davos.

GreenKarl, I just took another look at the Weapon Focus talent (on the Adept tree Magical Focus). It says, "Weapon focus must be based on the PHB melee (only) simple or martial weapons and cannot have the Keen Blade upgrades listed in equipment." Does the word "only" refer to wespons in the PHB, to melee weapons, or both (melee weapons in the PHB)?

binder Sorry i never got back Binder. That's cool. I thought you knew more than the average. GreenKarl don't downplay those circumstances! It's easy to bla bla away depression and other things. Plus, it's way more difficult to maintain a game as a GM than as a player. Plus you originally warned that we were playtesting your rules, so we had to be prepared for something, which might not have lasted forever. This game was the longest pbp i've ever played, the longest game in general actually, well aside from living pathfinder, but the burden of dming there is spread out over multiple dms with that setup, so Even if an individual game dies, the characters simply return to the base thread. It's not easy for me to see all the changes you've made, but i've noticed little things, like save bonuses increaseing at certain increments, which i like. It looks like you've streamlined the rules here and there too. The changes i can see are more like a subtle tightening of the rules yeah? Plus the structure is even tidier than before. It looks good enough for pdf format haha! Yo...

GreenKarl? I just wanted to mention if I haven't already, I hope you haven't minded my 3D postings. I've GMed a play-by-post before and I know how difficult it can get when things slow down. When momentum slows up, a break (sometimes a big one) is almost always necessary. Then (For me at least), the guilt builds up, day after day. By posting my stuff here as opposed to in a new thread, I figure it's kind-of partly keeping conversation in the thread alive, but in a no pressure way.... If that makes sense? I know about 6 months after I stopped DMing my game, I could've jumped back in, but it was too late by then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reloading something with a magazine is 1/2 a move action, full move if you want to stash the empty for later use. Full text: If the weapon only says reload it requires your Move to reload the weapon (except for bows and crossbow, then see PHB). If after the shots is listed an ‘m’ (magazine), p (powercell) and b (belt) each requires ½ your Move speed to expend and reload a new clip, cell or belt into the weapon; If you wish to also collect your empty clip or powercell (too recharge it later) it takes your full Move speed that round.

Ok... well it might be a while before I can fit you in BUT if you need any more help just let me knowYep, just 2 things. I was thinking of a multi-class at least a 1 level dip into Wanderer or Treasure Hunter. The idea being that he's been basically hired by some wealthy benefactor to acquire certain rare and forgotten texts and discovered that scholarly pursuits beyond the library require an entirely different skillset than he began with. The second thing is, one of the hobbit bloodlines I like, but the skill it provides overlaps with one of the Scholar's automatic skills. Can I choose another class skill in it's place?

That moment when you realize AP ammo (not APSD) is only 2x base cost, so 150nuyen...and see you have 250nuyen in cash on hand. Damnit. Shayuri: You know, we haven't used any of our "We planned for this!" points yet... “We had a plan for that” is when the group can edit something that is happening in the present by saying they planned for it during the off-screen planning part of the adventure. This could be buying some extra gear before the advance or having some plan. Basic edits might be worth only 1 exploit point and require a low DC skill check. Higher, more complex ones might require 2 or even 3 points with a higher DC check.

No roll to hit wall Hm... I refer you to our discussion on the Ram spell vs the air conduit? For NTensity, remember Armor Class is not just hitting something but also being able to dealing damage. I am fine with giving the troll advantage on the attack but the AC would normally be 12-15 I would think. Check here for striking objects. Also, isn't that elemental at disadvantage for it's Athletics checks while Prone? (not that it matters this round, of course :)) Also these guards and Samuel have ½ cover (+2 AC) next round. See four posts above for where NTensity created the new wall: with the east-west section one square "north" of the barricade, like the wall it replaced. i.e.: No barricade for you! :D

Hmm I am not 100% sure even after re-reading both BUT ok, and in that case Rumble gets +1 Hero Point as Herculan re-rolls his Fort save, Fort save re-roll (if 1-10, +10 to result): 1D20+6 = [17]+6 = 23, made it. He is no longer suffering any affectOoc: It is a Will save So I believe he rolled a 21. Still saves! Since that makes my intended turn moot I am going to redo my actions. An interesting thing is it is Insidious. Herculan didn't even know he was effected. As a player we wouldn't have known we had penalties.
  • 04:35 PM - jonathonhawke quoted GreenKarl in post Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'
Yes 100%... if you want Davos farther away that is cool. Your Acrobatics got you over the barricade as a free action so you can put yourself anywhere on the map within your move that you want. Here's my original post for this: Davos will take a moment to catch his breath (Bonus Action: Second Wind - heal 12hp), then jump back over the barricade ([roll0]) and take cover behind the desk (Dash up to 2 times, as required). If a second Dash is not required, he will then Hide ([roll1]) behind the desk. If no Dash is required, he will sheathe (or drop) his katanas, and draw his pistol. hp 13/29, Second Wind expended So if I needed to spend movement to stand up, then I need to Dash once in order to get behind the desk with Fluffy.
  • 04:47 AM - hero4hire quoted GreenKarl in post [M&M3] Astonishing Tales of Centropolis Vol. #3, Issue 1 ‘This Island Apocalypse’
Yes but that requires a new "attack" (or in your case just an action as its Perception) check. It does not happen automaticallyOoc: As answered by others. It does indeed happen automatically, when they fail a save. No action needed on my part.

"It's not going to hold for f***ing long!" warns the troll. "Prepare for it, I'm gonna drop the left side on four, three, two..." <Delay until everyone that wants to readies an action...> "*ONE!" NTensity abruptly lets go of his remaining wall and jerks both hands *up*, yet another of his 'protecting wing' walls erupting from the floor and blocking off the *east* half of the room beyond! (The guards on the suddenly exposed *left* side look a bit taken aback.) They also look completely, f***ing trigger-happy. Without further ado the troll dives behind the desk next to Davos, shotgun held in both hands like a talisman, back pressed hard to the desk. "Glad you found yourway back t'us, Steely!" A battle also rages in the astral - unseen, unheard - the Bathrrom spirit yanking hard on her yellow reins and *screaming* -- the screams she couldn't fully scream the first time... Delay as above then Free = Drop the wall Standard = Physical Wall on the East side of the chamber, h...

Ursa smiles. "This is a great place ye found, elf. I just hope that's not the infamous man-eating elf grass of legend." When Belgo looks at her, shocked, Ursa bursts out laughing. "Fooled you! There's no such thing as man-eating elf grass." Then she looks at Caranthir. "Right?" Still waiting for @Tesseract's extra checks but they don't affect the first part. Actually he edited his post to add the extra checks, right after your last post. Assuming you are going to set watches, in what order might you want to set them? Ursa can use her special ability to scout around in spirit bear form at night, although that means she cannot take a watch. At least, the rules do not specify if it counts as a rest when she does that, but it seems logical that she's sort-of awake. Would anyone object if Ursa scouts around at night instead of taking a watch?

It does not appear that the big mutant could have gone anywhere else but if its in their its keeping really quiet. Bled itself to f***ing death if they're lucky! "Alright, so let's jet." A bit reassured, the troll drops his surveilance and grabs the big 'lock door from the side. "On three? One. Two..." After giving everybody a chance to ready whatever actions they want, NTensity will open the door from the side (using his Reach to be out of the direct line of fire). Ready-action to slam it back closed if something jumps out.... If nothing does, he'll peek in

I live in Burien myself but might be interested depending on how often you change and what you mostly play. @bulletmeat what part of Seattle are you in. We are on a break but should be starting up something late next month. We meet up on Saturdays at Uptown Espresso in West Seattle. :D I know you were asking about bulletmeat, joining, but I live in the area and would be interested in a Sat game, depending on the time.
