https://ideas.lego.com/projects/d0c19cd7-ad7a-4775-b185-debbf29968d7 LEGO has a section about suggestion of ideas for future products, and one of them is a version of the classic hack & slash board game. I am not kidding. The suggestion is real. I loved this game, and sometimes I miss them. There was a project about a 25 anniversary edition, but they are working about it... for years. ...

There are millions of Spanish-speakers, but we aren't enough rich to buy all. You can see in many free-to-play online videogames there are translations to different languages but not for Spanish. China is a great market, but there the future of the industry of the speculative fiction isn't good. Its censorship doesn't like undeads, supernatural elements nor even their own pre-Mao historical...

Halflings and gnomes weren't created as PC race to play with all the classes, but they are more specialised in stealth classes, or in the case of the gnomes, illusory magic. I see gnomes like the mixture of feys and dwarfs, not like fantasy Jews. I am Spanish, and in the first Christian century Jewish community was the 10% of the population of the Roman empire. This means if I have got...

I like gnomes because they are the little ugly duckling, unpopular among most of players. In the right hands they can be characters so cool like Tyrion Lannister. About metagame their racial traits are to used like illusionist spellcasters or stealth classes like rogue. I guess the solution may be the racial traits to be replaced by an optional list of racial feats, like in Pathfinder 2. ...

In a fictional world you are allowed to do some horrible actions, but when it set in our real world then the things change. For example in Game of Thrones you can destroy a cathedral with Valyrian fire but don't dare to publish a novel or script for TV where a group of black-metal fans start a fire in a temple. Let's imagine a fan-fiction set in Vampire: the Masquerade where the anti-Spanish...

The master-slave morality is good for antagonist characters in the fiction, but it is too dangerous for main characters, or PCs in a RPG. Playing bad guys may be fun, but we should take care. Fiction or reality we can't forget we have to defend the respect of the human dignity. The saga of "song of ice and fire", Game of Thrones, is a good example of innocent people suffering because noble houses...

Are we talking here about "toxic geeks/fanboys"? I don't like when the speculative fiction and the RPGs are used like propaganda weapon, for example Castilla and the inquisition in "7th Sea", bul also I have seen some pieces of social darwinism in some titles of World of Darkness by White Wolf. I don't want to be off-topic, but I guess we can use the speculative fiction and the RPGs like a way to promote ethic values like the respect of the human dignity. I am Spanish, we are half-blood people and we don't shame about that (but by other things). We are a land of emigrants and immigrants, we see the both sides of the matter. There are enough monsters and magic item. I am not interested about subclasses. I like PC races, racial/monster/template + racial paragon classes. If I buy books, not only PDFs, I would rather in my language. I want more classes, but theses can't be only a list of superpowers, but each one has to be an interesting concept, and with a fun gameplay.

Sometimes I wonder about why genis give wishes...and I have got some theories. - They are magic slaves by a punishment, like in the teleserie "upon once time". - In the old past they were enslaved by the mankin (or our ancestors, the titans). We don't remember them, but they do it. - The magic lamp is to collect mana. The genies get that mana and the wishes are the reward. - Fun....

I am against the limit for the number of classes. You can't say "we have enough classes", because it is like saying "your favorite toy franchise has enough characters" or "your doll has enough clothings and you haven't to buy a new dress". If WotC doesn't create new classes, then it will be by 3rd party companies, for example the warlord. I say it again, the keys to create new classes are: ...

For example comedies as "Bewitched", "Genie in a bottle" or "Sabrina the teen witch", but also "monster of the week(/season)" like "Charmed", "Buffy vampire slayer", "Grimm", "Supernatural", "True Blood". Some players don't want urban fantasy because is too close to our real life, and they would rather...

In the beginning the fighter is stronger than wizard, but later in the highest levels the spellcaster is very much more powerful. * You can't say "we have got enough classes". The crusader had got a random system to recover spent maneuvers, and this was too complicated to be used like nPCs by the DM, but maybe like a solo boss. My opinion is the first step to reintroduce the martial maneuvers could be new subclasses, and later something like the pathfinder archetypes when some class features are replaced by others..(gladiator class from Dark Sun would be an example...

My opinion is this matter is about background more than true gameplay. Druid are primal spellcaster, and they need to be attuned to primal forces. Metal has got a special "smell" and animals can sense it. Primal spirits want the taboo of the metal armour because this is a symbol of human civilization. The true trouble is when a player want to use "biopunk magic" to craft a no-metallic armour,...

After the goblins were attacked by therianthropes, maybe wererats, or werevernims. These were the lord of the zone until...

@LuisCarlos17f in D&D you can play drow and play them following Lolth or you can play them having abandoned those darker teachings. In 2e there was an adventure (I forget its name) but you played the humanoids defending your home against the evil adventurers/ heroes who were invading your home, slaying your kin and taking your treasures. In the BECMI series there was the Gazetteer Orcs of Thar which provided a table of XP for pillaging, slaying and capturing slaves. Hell, one of the stories I'd like to run is where the main PCs are illithids protecting the elder brain from a violent uprising of of ex-thralls helped on by the Githyanki. In Vampire, you have the opportunity of playing kindred with outrageous views, opposing mortals and the supernatural alike not only in combat, but in politics, religion and more - nevermind the inner struggle with the beast within and the effects of immortality on such mind. To have this desire to continuously apply real life ideology to a game seems a little too rig...

LuisCarlos17f That seems reasonable under a nine alignment system. Good, Evil and Nature are the three most important factions in D&D-world, with a possible Cthulhu/Tharizdun/Far Realm as a fourth. Under the three alignment system I'd place Nature as neutral. This is a different approach to Tolkien, where nature is very clearly good and the forces of evil, represented by orcs and Saruman, are strongly anti-nature.

But in the RPGs is different. The balance of power between superpowers, ranged and melee weapons is difficult, at least with the d20 system. With modern tech your PC can kill an elephant with only a shot, or you can drive a truck to run over a horde of zombies. Now with a remote-control drone you can kill somebody from a different city, or continent. D20 system isn't ready yet to be an universal system, but I dare to say Hasbro wants one for an adaptation of all its franchises..(inhumanoids could be a good horror movie for young adults, couldn't it?).Some of my favorite old RPGs mixed them, usually by making them end-game content. Wizardry, Might and Magic, Ultima, etc.

I wonder about the future of RPGs will be paper and pencils replaced by tablets, and books will be only "collector edition" because players will buy PDFs. And Rol-liveplay shows will be with a videogame replacing miniatures. I'm waiting for virtual reality glasses/suit that can allow me to play and get exercise. The computer could slow my actions down or speed them up to get more attacks or cast spells and such. It may be like Fortnite but cooler.

LotR is a jewel, a master work of the fantasy, but as RPG is a world too closed to can add new things, and I like to mix thing from different sources. Tolkien himself just threw in all kinds of random monsters, like the tentacle critter outside Moria or the rock-throwing giants in the mountains. I think a genuinely Tolkienesque game would do the same. Instead we all fixate on just reproducing slavishly what was in the books.

It may be Dragonlance because this year is the anniversary, but in my wishlist the main is Dark Sun. (Why not new novels, or comics, to continue the metaplot?). Other option could be Kara-Tur, to create a videogame for Asian players as a hook to get new fans. Darksun would make sense as the whole psionics "mystic" class and material would be a major part of the setting. But planescape is on my wish list beside greyhawk and mysteria/ Hollow World on bottom.

Dragonlance is the setting what needs most a teleserie adaptation, maybe a cartoon or CGI. The question is if this could justify some little retcon. Other idea is about "time spheres", alternate timelines where Krynn Story is..."different". There was an attempted adaption. Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight (2008) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0825245/?ref_=nv_sr_1 It was all animated except for the draconians, who were all CGI. And boy did they look out of place. And after the success of Lord of the Rings (and more recently Game of Thrones), I am surprised a proper series/movies has not been release. Sure, there have been rumors of such.

I have thinking about a mas-up + reboot of the franchise, because I miss a lot of things from Star Wars legends, but I also want to add more things, for example mind-transfer and digital immortality. Other important change is I want to add more force-adept factions because I don't like too much jedis as attention centre always saving galaxy. Jedis are cool, but we can't wear the same dress everyday. And I would change something about the background of Yuuzhang Vong, with biopunk technology, but not all their machines would be organic. Their robotphobia wouldn't be so radical, only they have bad memories because their worlds suffered collateral damages by a war between beings as the cybertronians (transformers). 'Ya know, I was thinking that Starfinder would've been great as a Star Wars RPG. Honestly though, if someone else wants to do that more power to them. Now Conan is public domain, isn't it? Does this mean any company could publish a reboot of Hyrborea setting? Original characters wouldn't be necessary. Conan RPG was a D&D setting in the past, but now it is published by Mophidius. It has got a d20 version also. I don't know the legal status of Conan, but you could probably publish Con-Ed O'Barbrien as your satirical example and just have the class more or line up as needed. Modiphius currently publishes the Conan RPG and that should indicate who owns what.

W40K is a franchise too grimm for my taste. It isn't about good vs evil but bad vs worse. The human galactic empire is a xenophobe theocracy who wants to destroy everything they can't understand. And sci-fi get old very bad, new generations miss in old things now are usual in our current technology. • 07:09 PM - Kurotowa quoted LuisCarlos17f in post Critical Role's Kickstarter Breaks $1,000,000 In About An Hour!
I am surprised. I wonder about this could be a revolution in the industry of animation. Cartoon studios could use this to test what titles would be interesting for the public. No. That's the opposite of what makes for a successful Kickstarter. Big Kickstarters come from proven properties and experienced teams. No one's going to throw millions of dollars on an unseen title from someone trying to move up a rung on the production ladder. They want Order of the Stick prequel books because they know and love OotS. They want Critical Role animated episodes because they know and love Critical Role. Kickstarter is great for tapping an existing audience. If you're trying to get an actual kick start for something brand new, you have to set much more modest goals.

I wonder about this settings would allow the mind transfer and digital immortality, something I miss in the current sci-fi RPGs since I bought my Eclipse Phase corebook. have you even looked at the Ultramodern5 (5th Edition), NeuroSpasta (5E), and Apex-5E From Dias Ex Machina Games they are great

Of course I change everything I want but my question is if "time spheres" should be canon to allow some retcon by WotC. Aha! Okay, I understand what you mean, now. Something that allows for WotC creative license in the face of canon, that gives them a solid metaphysical justification for taking the tangled mess that are the official campaign settings and doing something cool and new with them. This... is tricky. Not shooting down your ideas, because if they're going to do something like this, that would be a fun way to do it. It provides a solid "why" for the changes, and time travel and alternate realities and so forth are a fantasy/sci-fi staple. But I'm going to tell you why it possibly might not work, and it's not because your ideas are bad ones. It's because your good ideas may run into certain realities. First of all, I don't think that DMs absolutely need anything like this. You change things, I change things, and so do most DMs. I know very few DMs that run settings out of the box. I kn...

Now I have a doubt. If artificer isn't in the SRD.... could a third party to publish a technomancer from Starfinder as a D&D class? Yes.

Do you think WotC should WotC allow as canon parallel earths in D&D? We don't need a description of this alternative timelines, but only a opened door for us to create our own versions as we wanted. This could allow a Dragonlance where the fifth age didn't started, or Lord Soth avoided the cataclysm, or Oerth (Greyhawk) suffering its own "sundering" changes in the geography of the continents. Or war in the island of Jakandar has to stop because they are being invaded by defilers from Athas, or Mystara being visited by the alien races from d20 Future (star frontiers + Star*Drive), or Cerilia (Birthright) discovering planar gates to a post-apocalypse world like Gamma World (not our Earth but with the same creatures). "Allow"? A lot of us have been doing this sort of thing for years.

In an earlier, unrelated thread, the subject of milestones vs. XP points came up. I didn't want to squash the discussion, but I also didn't want to derail my own thread...so I forked it over here. In a nutshell: I plan to use milestone leveling in my next campaign, instead of assigning XP points. Here's how it all went down. I would like a d20 Modern 2.0. but there are some problems about balance of power. How to explain it better? Do you remember the survival horror videogame "Alien: Isolation"? Only a xenomorph is a true nightmare, but in other games, for example the 1994 Capcom arcade "Aliens vs Predators" you can kill literally hundreds. A psycho-killer with a knife, for example the night slasher from Stallone's movie "Cobra" is too dangerous for an unarmed civilian character as Ingrid Knudsen (Brigitte Nielsen) but Marion "Cobra" Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone) could kill all the cult of "the new world". With the right weapon you can kill a dinosaur and only a shot is enough. With remote...
