SUPPLEMENTAL INFO: You are in a roughly-hewn room with a sand floor; digging a little reveals that about 4 inches below the sand is hard-packed clay, with streaks of limestone. You won't be digging your way out of here anytime soon. The lone, sputtering torch provides just enough light to see that there is something peculiar about the north wall. It is roughly hewn stone, just like the rest...

Sheldon and Indigo assist Bolo in harvesting useful material from the giant eagle. Though the eagle has a suitable wingspan and enough power to carry off a colt or full grown burro, the bird appears to be all skin, sinew, and feathers, no meat. The talons are each as long as the forearm of a normal person. Of the ten, one thumb talon appears to harbor some proclivity of Way Lines. As...

  • 04:47 PM - Tellerian Hawke mentioned Diarmadhim in post Moving The Campaign Forward...
.... Everyone is bathed, groomed, and dressed by 7:30 am. Breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. The party members who need to are now able to retire to their rooms, for study and prayers. Spells are regained by 9:30 am. [Everyone should take this opportunity to adjust and/or update your spell lists, as needed.] @Aust Thale DM's NOTE:Vale, before turning in last night, you talked with the bartender downstairs, and he told you that there is a Dwarven Shrine in the Royal Grounds district, near the Mayor's Tower. He says that the shrine is run by three Dwarven priests, one of whom is a High Priest of Moradin. The shrine would be an excellent place to pray in general, and they may even have trinkets for sale that would aid against undead. It's probably worth checking out. Respen, you have a hunch that you may be able to acquire the scrolls and alchemical equipment that you need from Laramon, and possibly even at a discount, since he has agreed to accept you as an apprentice! @Diarmadhim DM's NOTE: Dewydd, it occurs to you that the party is very well off, currently, in the way of cash reserves. It might not be a bad idea to visit The Dog and Hammer, to see if there are any weapons available which are forged from special metals (cold iron, silver, mithral, etc.) which might aid you against the undead. EVERYONE: It's the sunny morning of a brand new day! What do you do?

... The man walks forward with a smile on his face, “... I've had these vivid dreams of a temple of Erastil in a forest clearing. Ruined steps lead up to the temple – carved into stone. A large grizzly bear inhabits it, preying upon all interlopers. If you find this temple, please come and lead me to it so that I might restore it!” Adrin rubs his left thumb against the first two fingers of the same hands. It is an unconscious action, the hand relaxed at his side. "That is fairly specific. It should be easy to remember. I see no reason we cannot do that."

I shout as I take a slight step back and slip seamlessly into my aggressive fighting stance. Whatever else Lathir may be doing at the time, it is no longer considered important when he hears the loud proclamation of his friend. He moves quickly to the location to be ready for altercation should one present itself. When he sees the ring Dewydd mentions he says, "Hey! That ring! That is apparently the same cursed ring that Sir Denby was wearing when we were able to come to his aid. There are several prominent members of society wearing its likeness, here and now!"

In my youth, I played this board game with an elderly gentleman where each opponent placed colored stoned upon a checkered board. ... The man that spoke before tugs at the collar of his full plate and gives a perfunctory nod of his head in greeting. “I'm glad we decided to give a challenge rather than just firing. That would have been... embarrassing,” he grins jokingly... Shillaadrini shakes his head. "... rather than just firing? Great business tactic for a trading post." He then moves off to look at the wanted posters. Adrin has knowledge local not noble, but if it can be untrained, he has a +1. Roll = 11.

The pockmarked man speaks up after taking a moment to collect himself. "You keep referring to 'these two,' and I can only assume you mean the lad and I... What do you intend for the quiet guy there? I've never heard him actually speak either and people often forget he's even around. I grew up a street urchin and have only ever known banditry. Not sure I'd be of much use doing anything. Never really been the useful sort." The silent man merely shrugs and keeps his head bowed. The younger man responds dejectedly, "Apprenticeships cost a premium. I don't have that kind of money... It's why I turned to this to help my family." Emudre addresses the silent man. "Are you able to speak? If so, do you have something you wish to say for yourself?" She studies his reaction. To the young man she says "I will inquire about finding an apprenticeship that will allow you to pay off your expenses incrementally." She nods in agreement when her commrades suggest bringing the prisoners back ...

The bandit in the watchpost sends his quiver and short sword over the tower's ledge, following his bow. He then slumps dejectedly to his butt and awaits further instructions. Shillaadrini climbs down from his claimed tower with his newly acquired bow and arrows. He quickly approaches the other tower, knocking an arrow, and loudly tells the bandit, "Climb down." When the bandit complies, Adrin will return the arrow to its quiver and shoulder his bow. He will then proceed to bind the bandit's hands behind him with some corded twine. He will not tie it so as to cut off the circulation and does not treat the man forcibly. He performs all tasks as necessary and without emotional involvement. "Move over this way toward my friends, then have a seat there so I can keep an eye on you." When nearing his friends he addresses them. "I am not skilled in any healing arts, whether mundane or otherwise. I will keep an eye on the prisoner and keep a watch while the most injured are tended."

Holding his wound sight in his left hand, Shillaadrini momentarily stands and throws one of his darts at the Bandit that shot him, before once again ducking to cover.

Oleg nods at Sarvek's suggestion. "I can bait them in and then take shelter with Svetlana in the main hall. We can bar the doors and stay out of the way of you all as you work. I think if I'm out there to greet them with you all hiding - maybe in the stables and the guesthouse - it'll put them at ease enough that you can catch them unawares." Shillaadrini looks around the fort and area where the bandits are said to make their collection for a good hiding place, as close as possible, even if it is to wait in the rafters, since his projectile assault is limited to darts. He would prefer to engage with sword, but surprise must come first in this situation. He addresses the group. "I am built for speed not strength. We need to pin this scum in here, so that none can escape. One of us big enough should close the outer doors as a signal to attack."

As you three go to look for tracks, Svetlana speaks up, “I have some experience in tracking and I can tell you that since they come on the first day of the month, it's been 26 days. We have no chance of finding, let alone following, them. The weather and time have obscured any potential tracks outside of my meager talent. Even the best tracker in the kingdom would be hard pressed. We know for sure they will be here in two days at dawn though... Just as well, I really don't feel comfortable with just Oleg and I being here alone should you all leave,” she adds, her eyes tearing up slightly. “I don't know how long they'll be okay with just taking part of the profits. Eventually they might decide to use the trading post as a base of operations.” Maybe you could show us the pathing they take to get to you when they arrive. We could check out some vantage points along their route.

After the warm meal, Shillaadrini goes outside the fort to take a look along it southern border. He takes a few hours to thoroughly search the area looking for sign of the path the bandits have been taking. 1d20+7 = 14 + 7 = 21

Waking up the next morning, you break camp and continue your journey west. Your quiet ride is broken by the sound of low-pitched grunts and angry squeals. To your left, you see four boar near the water's edge. It is quite obvious that they see you too! What do you do - will you ride hard and fast from the threat? Or do you brave the encounter? Adrin says, "I do not think this can be avoided. Boars are not known for passivity. I do not want to risk my horse." He is prepared to halt his horse, dismount, draw his sword, and approach on foot, wanting to keep his mount protected at a distance.

"I am willing to ride hard to avoid the beasts, or I am willing to fight. I haven't ate boar in a good long time. And if I recall, it was rather delicious. However, there seems to be four of the beasts. A lot of food, and a lot of waste. But if we lead them just enough, we may be able to bring them along without killing them until we arrive. Then we have the food deliever itself. Just a thought." I look to the others with a mischievous grin. "Does anyone have a opinion either way?"

Gripping my sword in anger, I stalk toward the shrieks of terror with murderous intent. Seeing that there is a door to the party's right, Lathir will hold back at the vantage point of the corner to keep an eye on it and see forward while Dewydd moves forward to the unpleasant sounds.

Kuvarious looks at our group with anticipation, waiting to get out into the real world and roam. I turn to the group, "We gonna be getting some exploring done. Everyone have horses outside? What's everyone hoping to find out there? I'm hoping for treasure, a tale, and a little bit of glory." Emudre smiles cheerfully but answers rather vaguely. "Those of us who are followers of Desna embrace exploration. My horse is waiting impatiently outside." After taking leave of the Lord Mayor and his steward, Emudre compares the maps. When you check your maps with the one in the scroll, they appear to be the same. She pauses, thoughtfully, then looks at each of the other group members. Her eyes rest on Sarvek, and she hands him one of the maps. "I want you to hold on to this. If our group is ever separated or our belongings lost or stolen, it will be better if each of us is carrying a map."

  • 05:38 PM - MacConnell quoted Diarmadhim in post Kingmaker: Stolen Land
Despite their conversations being hushed, Sarvek and Shillaadrani overhear a couple people from the large group mutter “bastards,” “half breeds,” and similar insults under their breath. One particularly self-important looking fellow from another group sighs, “when will they be done in there? I have better things to do than stand around here like some workhorse waiting for its master in the field.” Adrin expects such contention in situation of such a conglomeration of peoples, especially one such as this. He chooses to ignore them. Shillaadrani immediately notices that Sissen Set, the commander of a band of adventurers known as the Iron Wraiths stands in one of the corners with his party. You know them to be well outfitted and relatively experienced. Also of note is a low-ranking, but eager to impress, Swordlord named Maegar Varn standing in another corner with the third group. Adrin makes a mental note of this particular group and its people of note so that at a more appropriate time and a ...

When Lathir describes the spell being cast, (Dewydd) shrug and share, "...I suppose I could tone my recklessness down a bit and deal with the orc encampment..." Lathir holds out his left hand in a halting gesture. "Hold up there. That thought has merit. I know I am not prone to speaking at length, but I feel some necessity. I am deducing some possibilities based on our gathered information and what Nel has conveyed. In Skorane, we discovered a tunnel system beneath the town with teleporters and another tunnel leading to the unknown. Nel confirmed that this is indeed used by the Drow of the her birth city to come up and travel between there and that other city under where we are, now. It stands to reason that a tunnel system would exists under this very fort, since the machination we are currently witnessing are allocated to a Drow matron from that city. What I like about Dewydd's last off-hand statement is that while we have been hitting patrols on this side of the fort successfully, we stand ...

  • 08:22 PM - MacConnell quoted Diarmadhim in post Lathir Joins Dewydd
Breathing a sigh of relief at the demise of the golem, Lathir moves over to where Dewydd is examining the runes. "What say you all we explore this section a bit more? I would like to examine these portals and see if there's a way to disable them. Be careful - they are most assuredly trapped with some sort of electrical attack. I saw the rune for lightning as I was charging. Equally interesting note; the golem was modified with a light rune and a fire rune. The fire rune strengthened it, but I have no clue what the purpose of the light rune was on it. Any ideas?" I ask as I begin to examine our environs and the portals. "I do not know how much I might help, but I will give them a look." Spellcraft: 16 + Skill: 1d20 12 = 28 Sylvar puts away his lute. Thankful at not needing to use his song. I say we collapse the cavern on top of those portals, or set a trap of our own for anyone who uses them. Lathir looks up at Sylvar's comment. "I do not think that collapsing the cavern on the portal will do...

I nod my agreement. "A mirror capable to look over far distances and make travel instantaneous? Sounds fun. Question - is there a way to come back through the mirror once we are on the other side?" Lathir - "I am not expressly familiar with these devices, but it stands to reason that mirror's true owner would have some particular command word that might withdraw him from his traveled destination. Having no key words, I suspect that if we go by means of this device, our return will be necessarily mundane."
