He listens to the bit about the tower and frowns. "Abandoned magic tower, infested by kobolds and who knows what else... what could go wrong?" Wary of the dicing kobolds, Owyn gave a half-hearted yank on one of the weakened bars, testing...

Chrysagon had been saved from the vines, and now he stood with Dellrack, hacking at them. Harb had only his scythe for cutting, and this he used now, slashing and kicking at one of the tendrils now holding Miss Imogen. .com/roll/742791]Sythe and Unarmed: 1d20+5 10 1d4+3 6 1d20+5 11 1d4+3 6

Suddenly Dandin understood what had drawn Tidus away from the others. He wasn't sure how best to help, but getting the girl away and out of immediate danger seemed best at this point. Moving up he called out to her. "It's okay! He's a friendly wolf, he won't hurt you! Come over here and we'll protect you! As the girl came to him he ushered her to a spot against the wall. Hmm, sounds interesting I suppose. Of course, with the way the dagger functions, that does leave a serious problem in that the dagger is unlikely to recharge fast enough to keep up with the demands put upon it. On average it should be recharging about 4.5 charges per night. With 3 mordguard, he was basically playing it safe with only using the mimimum roll of charges every night. 4 is a bit...

Honestly, the cloaks and masks were more of a way to keep the Mordguard lowkey in a world that generally abhors necromancy. He's not about to go walking about civilization with a pair of giant sized skeletons following him around even with cloaks and masks. They'd stand out 'far' too much for that. 'If' they survive this mission, he'll likely destroy them himself before we leave.

3/7 charges left on the dagger. Also, Mord can only be amused by a priest of Lathander himself creating undead. On a side note, I stated that Mord didn't have time to loot/dispose of corpses. But I do suggest that some others do so. This place does have at least one necromancer at the very least and we shouldn't go around leaving ammunition for them.

It was decided to give mord some time to create himself some bodyguards. He was originally going to animate the kobold bodies, but as he communed with the obsidian dagger he felt that it's magic had altered a bit as his connection to it had grown. He had the others drag two of the troll bodies into the chamber with the frozen giant and laid out for the ritual. The other bodies were to be...

Better to have this discussion here. We do seem to be short on tanky types. Early Bird is gone? That said, Mord's used up his spell slots, so he's down to EB until we get some rest. He can use the kobold skeletons as additional chaff in the short term if it helps.

Mord accepted the healing although he scowled slightly at Sesto's insistence on continuing forward. "If we must, though I cannot cast any more large spells until we do rest. Give me 20 minutes though, and we can at least have some chaff to throw into our enemies faces. Also, considering past experiences with this cult, it may be advisable to destroy the bodies that I don't use now."

Yeah, not like an Assassin Vine is directly sentient. Unless it's made to be. It's like the Venus fly trap. Trapping up it's victim is more a programmed reflex than an intentional action. Chrysagon probably just brushed up against a vine and set it off.

I guess this is my first true fighter in this edition and so stuck on the idea that chainmail is Medium armor and chain shirts are light. Yeah, Owyn is a medium armor specialist and as such is actually better off in Scale than chain mail. (Max DeX increases to 3 with the feat.)

Maybe he shouldn’t have drank that skin of wine. Maybe he shouldn’t have been traveling alone. But he’d thought Essess was pretty safe, and he was only just off the road. Now he was coming to in darkness. A dim flicker of light came from a torch on the wall, casting a shaky pool of light. The darkness seemed...oppressive and ominous, the light struggling against it. He was in a dungeon of some kind, metal bars surrounding him. A thick wooden door with a barred window in it showed further torchlight beyond. “H-Hello?” a voice came from the darkness. There was movement in the cell. “Are you awake yet?” It was a woman’s voice, raspy from disuse -- or screaming and crying. A gentle hand touched Owyn’s face and someone offered a skin of water. Okey doke, it looks like it's just Fradak, gargoyleking, VladtheDestroyer and Neurotic that are in right now, so we'll go on without Shayuri, and Bunny can hop in anytime (see what I did there?) Y'all are currently in "Planning Mode", so if you want to take time to converse and come up with a plan, go ahead, just let me know when you're ready to take on the fort, if that's what you're doing.

Also, tglassy would Primus drop his Wall if the Hunger is dropped, or no? Also, everyone would have had 3-4 rounds (I had dropped out of rounds) worth of actions before Lorenn arrived near the Kobold Warren. Do you both want to concentrate fire on a single pterafolk (say, the one on Rodrigo), or would Chrys go for the one trying to drag Tarri away? In other words, any target preferences here? While the goblin pushed back its chair and swatted at the little construct, the Shield Guardian slammed his hammer-fist into the filthy creature, crushing it to the ground. The elves ran in and spread out around Angis and Titus. They all fired arrows to wound, rather than kill, as it had been discussed that Dandin would try to lull them to sleep with his magic. Unfortunately, they were trying to be a little too tricky and only two out of six arrows found their mark: Tarthagal shot the goblin with the fire-poker in the shoulder and Ganalan shot the meanest-looking of the goblin gamblers in its arm. Darn it, I completely forgot about the necromancy discussion of a few weeks ago gargoyleking , I wasn't trying to spoil things :( I'm sorry. Mord probably has a lot to teach to Kalorn, seeing how Kalorn doesn't know he himself is a warlock (there was never a formal pact after all). That's what the roleplay is about, Kalorn's ignorance of warlocks, and thus confusing Mord as a necromancer.

Ancalagon Yes, I understand and accept all that. You, as a player, know what happened and have been told what I am thinking. FitzTheRuke Yes, this is also true. Other Sticks had suspicions (or have said they had suspicions) of him, too. Miss Imogen has not betrayed any of the PCs. gargoyleking I don't know what "played her hand way too early" means. We've been with these characters a calendar year at this point. Whatever in-game time has passed, I do not agree that a year into play there is not the opportunity for a significant character choice. No one is discussing my proposal that we keep the ring but not wear it. I also do not have clear indications on whether you want me to walk back the hiding of the ring. Whatever happens, she is not going to lie about it: she will say it is hidden, or she will say that she has it but believes it is better not being worn with us than being worn by Cimber.

... good. No problem. It's interesting, all right. Two things: a case could be made RAW. That the tho for samurai only last as long as the advantage does. I don’t think that is the intention, but I see that reading. I can find a thread that discussed it if you are interested. I'll go read it. I see what you mean, but I think it's a stretch. You gain Temp HP when you use your focus. You lose 'em through battle, or after a long rest like the usual rules. Also, I don’t know if Miss Imogen gets any more opportunities to save against the ring. Right! Let me check. Yup. She does! After [roll0] HOURS. Feel free to deprotagonize me, if that makes the fight go smoother. Otherwise I will keep going. No way to avoid the opp attack, but additional distance might avoid other attacks from the party (unless they run to Miss Imogen’s Defense, naturally). Good thing my map keeps going! She can go into the statue, but she might get caught in there, so she'd probably avoid it. gargoyleking, Harb can make an Opportunity Attack against her, unless you already rolled one too many. I don't know if you used that Ki point or not.

Oh I wasn't asking you to justify the score, just commenting on how good he was (sometimes "tone" is hard on a forum, sorry!). It would make sense that a mystic has highly developed senses. Kalorn is just wary - been ambushed a few times. He can sort of see in the dark/invisible creatures with his familiar. I guess the real question is how Sesto will react when he catches on... gargoyleking: clearly I don't have a high perception score since I don't remember much about where that dagger came from (maybe it was a part of the adventure where Mord and Udit weren't together?) or how it works. Does it need corpses for replacement, or victims?

Better to have this discussion here. We do seem to be short on tanky types. Early Bird is gone? That said, Mord's used up his spell slots, so he's down to EB until we get some rest. He can use the kobold skeletons as additional chaff in the short term if it helps. Short rest would help with healing too. And yes, EarlyBird seems to have vanished. He was running several games too. I hope he's ok :( There was also this guy who had this very interesting goliath "paladin of the mountains/stone" concept that would really have worked well as a party tank, but he bailed out... but it's earlybird that worries me...

GM: That is Harb's free "object interaction" and his movement (with a skill check and a saving throw) but he technically has not used his action, which he can use for an escape attempt (athletics or acrobatics dc14 (I think)). Sorry, Harb would have gone to help, but the terrain in his way is extremely prohibitive. Honestly, not sure what he's going to do. Maybe throw another dart? I can have Hup'lo disengage and you can climb up on the raft and fight the mound, if you like. I'm not sure how you can help Chrysagon. Maybe you could try to pole-vault over the hazardous terrain? It's only fifteen feet. I'd let you pull that off with a dc12 acrobatics if you want to give it a shot. Failure would have you fall 5' short and have to roll the save against the hazard, though.

Go Mountain dwarf wizard with War Magic specialty. At lv 4, you can take heavy armor and buff your strength at the same time. Str becomes your more primary stat, but Booming Blade is great for locking down enemies, or punishing them for trying to go elsewhere. Once you reach 6th level spells, Tenser's Transformation gives another 50 THP on top of advantage, extra damage and an extra attack of it's own. That definitely has the magical defender angle in there.

Also... Tinket: [roll0] Rank insignia from a lost legionnaire. Too easy, it was his missing father's. I seem to have picked description details that point to an Old Ones Human, or an Arideen, I guess. (Fair skinned, blond and blue eyes.) I'll go Old One, might be more interesting. For the Old Ones, think like Celts. Their tribes were pushed to the western fringes of the Empire when the Arideens moved into Essuss and Helveki. Many tribes integrated into imperial society. If your father was a legionnaire, he might be one of them. Others maintained the old ways and exist now mostly in western Essuss and the Ingha Swamp. Many on the island of Gilead are "civilized" Old Ones with an Arideen nobility (like the Norman French in England).

I'm afraid to build something 'too' tanky. I could pull off a frontline fighter off pretty easily though, and with these stats and a variant human, he could be pretty survivable in medium armor and a shield(And still be stealthy enough). So yeah, looking at that. There are certainly plenty of options with those stats. Although something frontline would be welcome you certainly don't have to limit yourself if you don't want to play that. Just having another character of any type would be nice.

The butler comes in at that moment, seeing the child’s temper tantrum and the Kobald standing, confused, next to her. “I’m sorry, but you mustn’t be in here,” the butler says, hustling the Kobald out of the room as the child’s tantrum runs its course, shutting the door once the Kobald is out.
